Giving Sparano some credit for the big turnaround in 2008, I'm very curious to see them take another shot with him and even with Chad Henne at QB. That part may not happen, but I definitely saw enough good stuff in his playing in '09 to think that maybe it was just the conservative playcalling that turned him into a checkdown specialist this season. Let's give him one more chance with Brandon Marshall and somebody with some balls calling the plays. I wonder if they can lure Scott Linehan back from Detroit...

Ha, yeah I remember the hype and when he got hurt. Him and later on Akili were supposed to turn the franchise around

Although it's hard to call a guy that has a serious injury that early a bust since he really didn't have a chance to prove himself. Akili gets no sympathy though

Well obviously you know a lot more about the Fins than me but from my view, what Dolphins management did was reprehensible. The active pursuit of Harbaugh while Sparano was still on staff severely undermined his credibility and will be extremely detrimental next season in the locker room. For Christ's sake, his assistants were boxing up all their personal belongings and Sparano had to sit around like a bridesmaid since he had over 2 million at stake to not quit Way to manage a NFL franchise Miami.

I like the Jets but Ryan is making that more and more difficult with each passing day. Getting "personal" against Peyton? Yeah, that's like picking a fight with a priest.

Er, yeah, they could've handled that better. Not sure if that really undermined his authority though, at least enough to affect the way the team functions next season. Harbaugh is the flavor of the week and they took their shot at him; Sparano was obviously in hot water after this disappointing season so that shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. Hopefully a head coach in the NFL is mature enough to get over something like that and make the most of his second chance.

I agree with Brutha Rick. Our franchise looks really really bad right now. And they STILL haven't told Sparano he has the job.

I meant insofar as the respect Sparano will command in the locker room next season with the players having witnessed how management treated him this week. Sheeit Thigpen and Marshall already are switching up calls on the field and disregarding plays called in from the sideline.

Damn Fins. I hope they give up on the Henne experiment already. I'm uncertain whether Thigpen is the answer but IMO it's not Henne that's going to lead the Fins back to the playoffs.

It may not be either of them, but I'd rather give Henne one more shot than to put it all on Thigpen - don't get me wrong, he's not horrible, but he's more Don Strock than Dan Marino. Ideally they will draft a QB to hold Henne's clipboard for a season and push him for the starting job. Worked out pretty well for Drew Brees when the Chargers drafted Eli Rivers.

As far as Marshall switching up the plays called, that's why I'm glad Henning is gone; he's the one who was doing the play-calling.

Wow you are a patient fan. So how come Fins can't win a game at home?

They haven't won a Superbowl since I was 2 years old... I kind of have no choice but to be patient. And I have no clue why almost all of their losses came at home this season, other than just a crazy fluke. Or maybe the stadium's been cursed by the Marlins. Eiither way I'll be glad when they get their own damn place next year. That dirt infield is a pain in the ass.

Hell, until last postseason my Cowboys hadn't won a playoff game since Clinton was in office. Reliving the mid 90s glory days provides solace during my lonely, cold Januarys of discontent. I just love how most of time talk about the Fins comes up late season when referencing their 1972 perfect season 40 years is a long time brotha.

No idea why Fins sucked at home and not on the road but the offense had such poor play calling and crappy execution. Our O-line has regressed thus our running game suffering. Henne's accuracy just sucks and if he doesn't want to throw downfield on a 3rd and long he'd dump off passes for little gain thus Dan Carpenter, the kicker, our offensive MVP. Fasano is an average TE and we have no WR speed. If we add a solid speed guy plus Marshall and former Rainbow Davone Bess we'll be ok there. Still puzzled why Fasano got an extension but then again that's Ireland. Would help if our DB's stopped dropping catchable picks.

As for QB, I was hoping Luck would come out so that we can trade up for a guy that can sit a year or so and be a star. It seems lately that only first round QB's perform well except of course Brady.

Yup^ Great organization folks. We'll make the Bengals look like saints soon.

BTW, Harbaugh went to San Fran. 5yr $25mm. Methinks though that Ross would go 4yr 32mm cuz 40mm is insanity.

Yes... yes it is. At least you can actually remember your Cowboys winning! And nobody talked about the '72 Fins this season because no team started better than 4-0 for the first time I can remember. Crazy.

Yeah, 3rd down and anything more than a yard, you could pretty much bet the farm on a short pass to Bess. Not too hard for defenses to figure out after the first couple games. As for the O-line, it almost seemed like they just wouldn't stop screwing around with the middle of the line... why all of the changes at Guard and Center when they had been looking so good last year??

If you go back and look at their scores this year, most of their games were pretty close, one way or the other (except when they played the Pats) so I guess it really was just the luck of the draw about where they won or lost. And they really did win that *&%! home game vs. the Steelers... f***ing Rapelisberger...

Yeah... good times.

Hey, it was actually a logical question!

JI: "So... I hear you come from a broken home... mom's a drug addict..."
DB: "Yup."
JI: "What does your father do?"
DB: "He's a pimp."
JI: "What does your mother do?"
DB: "She works for my father."
JI: "So............ ?"
[the next day]
DB: "F***ing Jeff Ireland called my mama a ho!"

FFFFUUU, he turned down $8 mil a year from MIA? Isn't Ross a "Michigan guy"? Oh well, Harbaugh isn't the one with the ball in his hands 4th quarter, Luck is. I'm really impressed that Luck is going back to finish his degree although in this economy I'm uncertain how valuable an architecture degree is. At least Luck didn't claim his main reason for going back to the Farm is to win a NC. The incoming recruiting class looks promising and I think my Cardinal will claim a top 5 preaseason ranking although as evidenced by Oregon and Auburn, preseason rankings don't mean sh-t.

I think he'll do well. He ran a Pro-style offense at my alma mater and his brother coaches the Ravens and prolly is a wealth of resources. OTOH, history dictates that the majority of college coaches transitioning to the NFL face a bumpy road, i.e. Saban, Spurrier, Petrino, etc.

I gotta say I'm quite excited though. Our new coach plans to run a West Coast offense, which is what we should have been running in the first place, since that personnel was basically in place for it for 4-5+ years now. I like that coach Harbaugh already knows what defined the Niners in the 80s

I didn't know about John Harbaugh much before a few years ago, and I know next to nothing about their dad, but I hope coaching ability runs in the family

All I know is if we can get a good, consistent QB and our o-line improves, it will only help keep our defense off the field. Our team is much better than our 6-10 record indicates.

He always seemed like a good guy. I think his brother is a pretty good coach, and he's certainly done a heck of a job at Stanford.

My wife doesn't like him but we know a tad more about him than is generally known.

Holy crap.... I'm surprised. But I wouldn't feel safe being up on the Saints, unless I was up by 28 or more. Even then, there'd still be that doubt in the back of my mind. I tend to agree with Mike Mayock a lot, and I agree they should have punted it. But this game is far from over
