proffesion...axle breaker
ever since i switched to my dads RACs im shootin in the high 70s low80s, never thought irons would make such a difference, but the more greens i hit, the better chance i give myself to be sub par.

could be possible i suppose, but usually closer to 5 strokes... I just bought myself a set of the wilson pi5's and love them. only a 3 stroke difference, but they have gotten me back into golf and i am playing my long irons much better...

I paid 450 for the set on ebay. I'm certain my score will not be that low all the time (low for me anyways). I think the range is very productive, esp. when I'm not hitting the ball right w/ certain clubs. I just practice foot/ball placement and work on how to strike the ball for max effect. I found that playing 4 balls on each hole at the club worked well too.

OK, I think the clubs have a lot to do w/ my improved game: last nite I shot a 40 for 9 holes. From just over 200 out on a downward sloping fairway, I hit the ball w/ my 4 iron and was 15 feet away, pin high (bird). I never could do that before.

My goal is to become a solid mid 80s golfer, but that's not going to happen when you 3 putt a fair amount of greens.
I think I played twice last year, same the year before. This year I played about 6 or 7 times, then in July we joined a Golf/Country Club, so I've been getting out for at least 9 holes 2-3 times per week, plus I go up on the weekends to use the range facilities. In fall I'll be doing some of the clinics, and probably hooking up with one of the club pros, so I hope to be shooting in the upper 80's low 90's by next summer (currently shoot low 100's).

Playing a "Mr./Mrs" Tournament Sunday, though my "Mrs." is a friend from the ski patrol. We are paired up w/ my aunt and her husband. It's a Scotch scramble so ladies drive on odd numbered holes, guys, even then play the best lie in. I guess on some of the holes not only do we alternate drives, but shots from the fairway in, including putts. Should be kinda cool. Now I just have to keep striking the ball well and I should be in pretty good shape. My aunt's husband (2nd) has a 9 handicap, she has a 12-14, the new Mrs. has a 18 and I have about the same. Should be in contention for some prizes!

Very sweet! Good luck!!
I played at the club on Tuesday and shot a freakin 54 for nine (shot a 45 on the back 9 last week while away using rental clubs!). Granted the club course is much harder (one of the toughest in Charlotte), but I think I need to move up one tee box back to where I was. I need to get more consistant before I move back and stop trying to move back first, then get consistant.

Hey juniorbean, my brothers and I are playing Pinehurst in November and a few other courses, the names which I do not know. Got any recommendations for good courses, price is not an object as hotel/airfare is being comped (don't ask) as golf and play $$$ is all I need to worry about!

If you're going to be in the Pinehurst area, check out this site: http://www.homeofgolf.com/golf/areacourses/
I'm trying to plan a golf outing for next year with a bunch of my friends.

That's a great site. Also check out... www.golfnorthcarolina.com . I've only played courses in Union and Mecklenburg county which are around us (we live in Union). Those counties can be found under the Heartland Courses link. I play Firethorne which is our club (Union)... also played Charlotte Golf Links (Meck), The Divide (Meck) and Ballantine Country Club (Meck).
If you search by county under Heartland Courses, pretty much all of the courses listed under Mecklenburg are great. Quail Hollow is where the Wachovia Open is each year and most (but not all) of the Club courses are semi-public (call to confirm), though expensive which you said didn't matter. If you end up in this area (we're about an hour and change from Pinehurst), shoot me a PM or email and maybe we can hook up.

Mizuno Irons > all
Mizuno irons have been # 1 on the PGA tour for eight straight years! I personally love the MX-23's which I am getting fitted for this weekend.

Meh. Honestly I think my game wouldn't change much regardless of which irons I choose. Every once in a while I take my old set of Square II irons to the driving range and hit a few. Although they have an incredibly small sweet spot, I hit them pretty much the same as my Ping I3s. Golf is more mental.

Well the I3s were almost 13 years old so it was time for something new. Just got fitted for a set of Ping G410s. Holy hell the improvements is just amazing. Such forgiving irons.
Got a proper Ping fitting. Went from...
Regular shaft, standard length, black dot to...
Stiff shaft, +1/2" length, green dot (+2° upright)
It's just amazing what getting a proper fitting does.
Best part is my 15 yr old wants to learn to play so he's getting the old I3s.

Those look really nice.
I need golf clubs with the forgiveness of a Presidential pardon.
The best thing I ever did for my golf game was to put it out of its misery.

Nice looking irons. I try to tell anyone that asks what clubs to get that it is much less the model club you have compared to having them fit for your exact swing. You better off with a $300-400 set of clubs fit for you than a $1200 set off the rack.
