The Los Angeles Lakers will get tested Wednesday after learning of the Nets' positive tests, sources confirmed to ESPN's Dave McMenamin. The Lakers were the last opponents of the Nets last week before games were suspended.

BREAKING: The Lakers will likely win the 2020 NBA Championship, due to unique bylaw
this sucks.
APRIL FOOL'S
A new development has emerged that will potentially have a huge impact on the current NBA season. Thanks to some very thorough researchers who likely had too much time on their hands, a specific rule from the league’s bylaws has been revealed, which clearly states that if this season ends up being cancelled — a possibility that is becoming more and more feasible as the weeks go by — then it appears that the Los Angeles Lakers will be declared as this year’s champions.
NBA Bylaws 6.23: If the season ends prior to April 1, the team with the best record in the year the NBA Finals will be held shall be crowned the undisputed champion. We are unsure why this rule has only been unearthed now, but is clear that there is already pre-set arrangement in the case that the league opts not to resume the current season. Having this type of contingency just makes a lot of sense, as it anticipates any unforeseen event or circumstance that might lead to the cancellation of the season.
Sadly, the current coronavirus pandemic appears to be the unforeseen event that might just cause the cancellation of the 2019-20 campaign. The number of cases continues to rise in the U.S., and while the recovery rate remains to be extremely high, risking the health and welfare of NBA players in the midst of this dreadful pandemic just isn’t smart.
To be clear, the rule states that the team that will be crowned as champions will be the team with the best record since February 1st. The Milwaukee Bucks may lead the NBA with a 53-12 record on the season, but it is actually the Lakers who have the best record since February. Since February, Milwaukee currently holds a 12-5 record, while L.A. stands at 13-3. This would mean that the Lakers will be crowned as the 2019-20 champions, handing LeBron his fourth NBA title in his career.

Yeah with how the virus is just rearing its most ugly head this month and then as the curve start to subside (hopefully) in the next month to 2 following that...from a public health and science perspective...I don't honestly see any real way to re-open the season as it used to be for quite some time. Still so surreal.

fark..... just i guess even God didnt want Lakers to win...
But yah even if shit dies in in a month or 2, most of the people and players will not be ready to act like everything is back normal right away.
By that time, it is already Oct, 2021 season...

it is too early to tell... The most important factor is the date that they are allowed to be back on the court....
i mean they could even do 3 out of 5, instead of best of 7 for the play off... there are many ways.. but all depends on when it is safe to be back on the court.
We will know who have kept up with their work out and who have been sleeping and eating all day right away

If the vaccine is at least 12-18 months away, it means that crowds of any number albeit JUST team personnel is not going to pass.
And let's play this out: NY and area is one of the biggest centers of this pandemic...so, you got the Knicks and Nets done. California isn't any closer with Newsom not committing to anything right now so, you have the Warriors, Lakers, Clippers toast. So, like...I dunno. Just don't see it.

FWIW, I do not see sports starting up in September, man.

The only other possible feasible way is if you can somehow prove that you're either free of the virus or already has antibodies to it before you're allowed to attend. I can't imagine 60,000+ packed into football stadiums either.
This could mean huge revenue loss for the league and owners and players by extension....one possibility is there may be a potential incentive in the owners of teams to help subsidize or even offer COVID testing (both viral load and antibody) for anyone who wants to attend games, so this way even though it's an additional cost/burden on the owners it's much easier to get crowds together if there is a way to ensure the crowd is pretty much covid free/resistant...

Woj reported yesterday that the season is aiming to crown a champion this season by around Labor Day weekend. They're exploring using the Las Vegas arena where they play some Summer League games. The key is obtaining the rapid testing and then quarantining affected players.

or they have a mandatory Q for all participating players and staffs before the game starts, along with testing to ensure all players are negative before entering the games...
Non-essential personnel allowed and no audiences...
That is the safest way....
and it would be funny if they wear PPE to play
