If Bogut stays healthy, I'll be happy with the signing. Heard Seth has had flashes of being a solid player, just hasn't ever gotten a lot of playing time.

I never get my hopes up for free agents coming to Boston. Its just something that rarely happens
Dont get me wrong, we all love the Celtics here and our fans are some of the best in the NBA but they are 3rd if not 4th when it comes to sports priorities in Boston.
Edit: The more I think about the Celtics are definitly 4th behind the Pats, Sox, Bruins

Yeah I've noticed that... I have a bunch of family in Bean Town and the Celts (who are the only one of their teams that I pull for) are definitely at the bottom of the pecking order. I guess 22 years between championships will do that.
Still, I got my hopes up when they signed Horford over the weekend that they were about to pull off another coup like they did in '07 with Garnett and Allen, turning them into instant contenders. I think things are setup maybe even better now than they were then. Stevens is a very smart coach, and they have a lot of good role players plus Thomas and now Horford. If Durant opts out after 1 year with the GSW, there's your new Big 3. I think it would be a better situation for Durant, too - less competition in the East, less sharing of the limelight (neither Horford nor Isaiah even come close to Curry). Of course this all hinges on my hunch being correct about the Warriors' chemistry, but I know that "Dream Team" signings can be hit-and-miss: for every '07 Celtics there's an '03 Lakers...

I agree with most of what you said but you got to remember the difference between now and 07. Back in 2007 the Celtics traded the 5th pick in the draft for a 32yr old Ray Allen (great player but not quite in his prime anymore) then Kevin McHale gave us Garnett (31yrs old) in exchange for a bag of basketballs.
A little different than trying to sign a top 3 player in the world.

Horford and Thomas do not equate to part of a big 3 though they are all stars.

Edit: Forgot about '74 & '76. The pattern still holds, though.

True dat. But throw Durant in there and I guarantee you people will start calling them that.

That really only holds true to the Pats. Boston has always been a hockey town at heart (having some of the best college teams in the country helps) and then you have the Red Sox who were an original team back in the 1870's so it just happens the Celtics fall to the bottom of the order.
Again Im not saying people dont care about the Celtics its just the other 3 get talked about more.

So, what's going on with Chewslikeacamel (Wade) and the Heat? Why is it not a foregone conclusion he'd re-sign with Miami...?
Cuz, he's going through the shenanigans of meeting with the Bulls and well, I've seen this story before.

He wanted 3 years $60M and Heat could not even make a 2 years $50M offer
He could come to Lakers and get something like 3 years $80M considering how much we paid for that No body a few days ago.
There is no point for us to save for the salary cap since we are tanking for the next few years anyways.
