^^FWIW I think he is, but only because the real superstars (in both talent and notoriety) should be paid more.
He's on the second tier, but IMO, he's gotten much better than before. He's one of those guys you'll pay because it finishes your championship squad.

Bunch of pansies traveling to all these cities cus they are greedy fucks and all they want is the most money possible, just so they can go broke 5 years after they retire. For the love of the game
The NBA needs to learn from the NHL. 99% of their offseason trades were done in 48 hours.

Using Anthony as an example, what he leaves on the table if he signs with Chicago is a big amount...even if the Lakers offer max $$$ he'd still leave a pile on the table. But, here's the rub...if he goes back to NY for the max, what room does that give the team to give him a contender again? Isn't this what the Knicks did to ACQUIRE him in the first place? They gutted the roster and NY was mired in mediocrity forever.

I don't think the NHL and NBA are comparable on many levels. Kobe/Lebron have been in the finals 12 of the last 14 years. Magic or Bird were in all the finals from the 80s (80-89).
MJ made a billion dollars, won 6, and continues to make money in and out of the league. It pays to have stars, so you pay your stars. If someone is willing to pay, its not their greed, its what the market is willing to bear...and the very top stars are still underpaid.
...and let's not be naive here. All professional sports are overpaid. They aren't curing cancer or bettering humanity. If NHL players don't want to get their fair share from their team as whole, thats on them.

I'll believe it when I see it when some of the guys are saying "it's not about the money and about winning"...

Some will point to other players taking less money but everyone is different and in different situations those players (Duncan, Dirk)are in with winning franchises and they have confidence in their management. The Knicks even with PJ and Fish onboard have a long ways to go.
Melo was stuck in Denver hell for most of his career and he might never another chance to make this kind of money so he should take it while he can.

Let's say Melo goes back to NY and doesn't take the max, there's no guarantee especially with Dolan as an owner that the Knicks could attract or sign good enough FA's to win a championship or even get close.

Suppose LeBosh takes Houston's stupid max offer and leaves the LeHeat...it could actually work out terrifically for the LeHeat because guess who'd step into LeBosh's old spot? Anthony. So, you'd gotta think Miami is praying that LeBosh is going to Houston...
Otherwise, maybe both LeBron and Anthony go to LA? Otherwise, if both of those two are not teaming up...the best place for Anthony is Chicago. Best fit and the team with the most pieces for him to win now.
But, again...I doubt it. Money talks...and he's leaving a pile on the table.

Not jumping into the discussion here, but I have to believe that taxes are also taken into account when a player calculates what they'll net as salary. Too big of a chunk of money not to. In that situation, NY and LA aren't as lucrative as the same deal in Miami. Perhaps the max deal in NY is worth the same as a deal in Miami, and the LA deal is less than both.
I know Dwight broke even going to Houston. Just saying...Melo to Miami is entirely possible.

On paper. As a Bulls fan, I'm so jaded by the NBAs free agency that I do not see Anthony being in Chicago to even consider it. I don't think his selfish playing is conducive to Coach Thib's system.

Today Riley will speak with Lebron in Vegas. Riley will pitch how Josh McBob, Grainger, Shabazz, and whoever else he thinks he can get will get him more rings. I doubt Gasol joins since he probably wants to get paid.

He's going to re-sign with the Knicks. As expected.

We need a nice big, giant gong. Extra golden in color gong. So that we all can strike it.

He can do no right. He hasn't said a peep and has only met with the Heat face to face. Plus he's only been in Vegas and is going to Brazil for the Cup. The moratorium did just end this morning.

Call me crazy/naive but I really liked the way he handled this. That letter was a nice touch. Happy for Cleveland. Nice to see a small city land the big fish.
Now kindly give Toronto Wiggins so he can come home too.

Cleveland has Lebron back.
Although the Browns will probably continue to be a doormat, they now have Manziel and all the attention he brings.
Lots for sports fans in Cleveland to look up to. Congrats peeps!

FUCK YEAH! WOOOOOOOOOOT! He's back!
You will note that this Cavs fan kept his Cavs avatar here even when the team tanked, even when they got the #1 pick for an unprecedented 3 out of the last four years, and I even went to the games, even the losing ones. I believed even then, and I (and most average Cleveland fans) were not that upset with LeBron.
Now, I'm going to find some season tickets. I f-ing DESERVE some winning basketball.
P.S. His SI letter completely absolves him of the sin he made with The Decision 4 years ago in my book. What a surprisingly humble letter.

Good for Lebron he learned some valuable lessons over the last 4 years I too like the way he handled this no one should be mad at him now. I feel for D-Wade because I he may not be able to make the same kind of money on his new contract. One domino has fallen lets see where the rest will.
