I dunno. I personally think Orlando made out pretty good in this trade...at least better than what the Nets were offering.

No, the nets were offering alot. It was one of those better bang for buck deals. Hell Houston, and Atlanta could've had better deals. Although Orlando got 3 1st round picks from each team. It doesn't make sense because all of them are playoff teams

You already have a powerhouse like MIA (and formerly BOS and CHI), why make another monster of an opponent in your conference in the Nets?
Shipping D12 to the western conference insures that that Orlando isn't making another ridiculous team in their division... although Bynum to the 76er's makes that team ridiculously competitive as well.

^^Add to that, Brook Lopez was going to be a sign and trade, and he wouldn't sign any contract that wasn't a max-extension. So essentially, the Magic would have to swallow Brook's max contract, which they smartly, didn't do.
Bynum isn't a max guy, and Brook Lopez even less so.
...that being said, Philly, NYK, and BKN will have a nice little 3-way battle at center, all within an hour or 2 of each other.

^ Bynum's big downside was his maturity/ego issues. But you can't deny that after D12, Bynum is probably the best center in the league.
Even without D12 - Nash, Kobe, Bynum, Pau was a really formidable combination. Replace Bynum with D12, and its just down right scary.
Lakers will be legit this season - although their bench still looks kinda scrubby IMHO, and I'm not sold on Coach Brown.

^^no need to be sorry...part of being the NBA's premier franchise, as its always been. Things are just back to normal.
Besides, memes are funny as hell these days.
Anyways, where's the dude that said the Lakers weren't going to contend for anything for a couple of years?

Saw this, thought I share. I've seen just about every Magic highlight video, but this is a REALLY good collection.
I forgot how great Magic was on a game-to-game basis, not just 'when it counts'...he truly earned his name. I don't think kids today get to appreciate how great he is because they get caught up in this 'greatest ever' debate.
anyways, enjoy...you won't be disappointed.

^ Whatever that procedure is out in Germany, it made Kobe Bryant look 4 years younger on the court.
Knowing Bynum, he's going to come back 4 years younger in maturity.
And that Magic vid is amazing. It's kind of sad that the Passing Game in the NBA is dying... the last time I was wowed by a pass was from Jason Williams (the white guy).
Today, the only time you see amazing passes in the NBA is when you watch Euro guys (Ginobli, Rubio, Parker). All other NBA guards are almost always looking for their own shots first.

Regarding the euros, I recently read 'The Dream Team' by Jack MacCullum. Great read. It has a chapter dedicated to those Euros and how basically the Dream Team inspired them. Magic, Jordan, Bird, Barkley, etc, the way they played wasn't one-on-one, but in sync with each other. I think them having that basketball ideal (along with a hint of soccer's passing and movement game) has helped them develop their style of play.
They don't have our athletes though, that's for sure.

@ Rose...
Man, it's going to be very tough to watch the Bulls without Rose for most of this season...

Yeah, I hope Rose does not rush back...he needs to take all the time to heal and rehab.

That old school Shawn Kemp (where he points at Alton Lister?) was just awesome....one of my favorite old school sequences. Dunk was great, but the reactions afterwards were priceless.
Kinda reminds of when Jordan dunked on I-forget-who, but Stacey King came over put his finger in I-forget-who's face....but all done by one person, lol.

^^ooohhh, that's a good one. One of my favorites, from a favorite player.
have to say, when I was at ASU, I got to play Kevin Johnson, Dan Marjerle, and Ceballos in the summer or fall of 1993. They were playing pickup games, and they called 'next' on the court I was playing on. KJ couldn't have been nicer to this 18 year old kid.
Majerle was shooting flatfooted from half court...all arms and wrist, and making everything he shot. I'll never forget that.
