L.A. > the rest
Yeah, he can be dominant at times on both ends of the court and sometimes he can also be a non factor. However, losing Pau would hurt bigtime! The soft label is still there and who knows what's up with his relationship with Kobe but the LAKERS wouldn't of won their last 2 championships if it weren't for his contributions.
IMO, Kobe/Howard is not enough.

As well as the Clips are setup, even the mother of all superteams (the Heat) couldn't beat a couple of grizzled vets and Dirk Nowitzki (the Mavs).
Last I checked, the Lakers still had 3 all-stars on the team that have been together for awhile, had a 17 game win streak last year, and were swept by the eventual champions after winning 2 of 3 finals. Things tend to get blown out of proportion in hypersensitive Lakerland, but the situation isn't as dire as they make it out to be in the media.
Heck, the Celtics get more credit...they haven't done shit since 2008!!

I agree in part with what ur saying.
But takes a "TEAM" to win it all, not individuals.
I look at last year's LAKERS roster not as a "team", but as individuals that let outside influences affect their game and trust in one another thus causing them to collapse at the most crucial of moments. They have no one to blame but themselves and a very hungry and determined "TEAM" in dallas.
Same thing with the heat...it was always about the superteam and never about the "TEAM."
Hopefully the LAKERS will be the "TEAM" this year but that remains to be seen.

To be honest, I'm really happy for the clips...they are an LA home team. I'll cut em a little slack....they've made the playoffs 4 times in the last 35 years.

Take it from a Laker fan....with the talent, market, glitz, and fanfare of a team like the Heat or the Lakers, no one cuts you any slack for almost winning a championship.
It comes with the territory of being a premier team....
Meanwhile teams with young guys, or crowd faves, will celebrate making the playoffs, or victories over teams like the Lakers and Heat, as if it were the NBA finals. Clipper fans were celebrating like they won it all yesterday. I think Clipper Darryl had a heart attack...

As for the Clippers getting CP3 and Billups I can see them making the playoffs as maybe a 6 or 7 seed if they don't have any significant injuries. The Clippers don't play any defense, their coaching suspect so it will be interesting to see how they put it all together.

I agree with everything you said nobody cares if you lose in the Championship at least nobody in L.A. or Boston care some of these other cities might.

Kendrick Perkins also lost 32 pounds. What's up with that Boston cuisine?

Vanessa really took CP3 to the clippers really tough. She's REALLY off the Lakers bandwagon.
So I guess Kobe is changing his number to 12 this year?

Better backcourt duo...
Rip and Rose or CP3 and Billups?
Hmmmm....2 traditional point guards or 2 'shoot first' guards...interesting....

I dunno...in their head-to-head last year, Rose seemed to outplay Paul. ![Shrug](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif)
I'm obviously biased but I'll take the MVP.

I think it helps that Rose can create his shot or suck in the defense and kick it out to Rip.
However, having 2 point guards that can both shoot pretty well and play a bit of D is killer. My edjamacated guess is that CP3 is a smidge better on defense too. The Clipper guards have that old Bad Boy Pistons feel (Thomas, Dumars, Microwave) with all their short guards (CP3, Billups, Mo Williams).

its all good...they did have a deal in place for CP3 and then Howard, so you can't fault them. It took the league and a bunch of small market whiners to hold back the Lakers. Its not like they aren't trying.
Its the Lakers, there is always a reason to be optimistic.

And yes, while I don't think he's the BEST player in the NBA right now...things like this make me really appreciate Rose. From his press conference today:
"I would like to thank my teammates and coaches for pushing me...I'd like to thank the city of Chicago for sticking behind me. I think I can finally say this now: Mom, we finally made it."
