^ Have you listened to some of their conferences and the way they talk...? You'd think NBA was a contact sport that involved hitting on the head.

This wouldn't be so bad if I were a fan of a good college basketball team, but mediocrity reigns supreme for my Sun Devils.

Both sides are pretty stupid for letting it get this far. Owners imo are more greedy than the players right now. They should've taken the give backs from the players in this CBA and bargained for the system issue changes in the next one instead of trying to win it all right now. It would've been a bit more palatable for the players.
Hopefully they can resolve this quickly out of court rather than drag it through the entire legal process.

Lock out is over.
Well the lockout is over with the season starting on Christmas yay I'm sooo excited
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/72...tive-agreement
But honestly at this point I find it hard to care. Don't get me wrong, I was really looking forward to the season after last year, but I lost A LOT of respect for the NBA and these crybabies after all this crap. Especially considering all the people out of work in general, in addition to all the people who depend on NBA games to feed their own families (concessions, nearby resturaunts, etc)
I may eventually start watching again, but no idea when.

Lakers are trying to make big moves saying they'll trade anybody other than Kobe for Howard or Paul, not so sure if any of this will happen but I'll gladly except either with open arms.
I just realized the Lakers are trying to be the LeHeat of the West..nononono! Unless we can get a championship out of it.

^^they are still in the running for CP3 apparently, but I agree...its a long shot. I'd be happy to get either, and I'd also be happy to keep Bynum/Gasol/Odom and get some perimeter help from free agents.
FWIW, the Hornets are still interested in getting Pau, but I think a 3rd or 4th team has to get involved. Dwight and Hedo for Bynum and Odom seems to be the prevailing trade, but I personally think the Magic want/need youth in the form of draft picks. Next years draft will be really deep, apparently.
...
Clips are also in the running for CP3, but they don't want to give up Eric Gordon.
GSW wants him too, but they don't want to give up Stephen Curry.

I think there was a report he was their #1 option, but I just didn't see it. Might've been just a rumor circulated to get NOH to trade CP3. Doesn't seem like there's any mutual interest anymore, and orlando doesn't seem to be in a rush to trade Dwight like NO and CP3. New Orleans is saying they want to deal with the CP3 situation before training camp, so hopefully we'll see some progress shortly.
I think clips and GSW would be willing to part with those guys if they had an assurance of extension by CP3, but as of now, I don't think he's agreed extend with any teams (besides probably NYK), so it might just come down to who is willing to give up the most for which might just be a 1 year rental. It's definitely a gamble, especially because it kinda feels like CP3 has his heart set on joining his buddy Melo in NY.

Discussions for CP3 getting hot....CP3 to LAL , Gasol to Houston, Scola and Kevin Martin to New Orleans. I think Houston gonna get draft picks too....
#187
Supposedly, the Knicks don't have the assets to trade for CP3. CP3 doesn't want to leave the Hornets with nothing.
So realistically, I think its between the Lakers and Celtics. Celtics are offering Rondo, Green, and picks.
I think CP3 wants to play with Dwight Howard as well, so that may be a draw to go to LAL.

Yup...some of the pieces being moved in the Paul transaction:
The Chris Paul circus may be over.
While no deal has been finalized, two sources said New Orleans is closing in on a deal to send their franchise point guard to the Lakers in a three-team deal with Houston. The Rockets would receive veteran forward Pau Gasol in the deal, while the Hornets would net small forward Lamar Odom from the Lakers and shooting guard Kevin Martin, forward Luis Scola and point guard Goran Dragic from the Rockets.
The talks between the Hornets, Rockets and Lakers were first reported by SI.com
The Hornets had shown signs of leaning toward doing a deal with Boston as recently as Thursday morning, with Celtics general manager Danny Ainge determined to land Paul despite the fact that he didn't want to play there long-term. But according to one involved source, teams that were in the hunt for Paul were informed of this deal by the Hornets on Thursday afternoon.

Can't help it. And btw, Pau Gasol isn't chopped liver....GaSoft was the best power forward running for 2-3 years (3 finals, 2 championships, Euro Championships, Euro MVPs, Silver Medal, and an awesome W-L record since he joined the Lakers).
He lacks in confidence, but every team would want a guy like him.
I have nothing but gratitude for him....this wasn't Kwame 2.0.....

And let's not forget, LO was 6th man of the year, and with Bynum's balky knees, he was essentially a starter.
There are things to be said for both sides of the trade.

yea, definitely wasn't a complete swindling by the lakers, and even I have to question how much they really improved the team. Obviously, they can't be done, considering they're left without a PF, and without any bigman for the first 5 games (besides...character?). So they definitely have some work left to do, and hopefully they don't get someone at a extreme discount because "they're the lakers". Mr. Ex-Kardashian anyone?
They did get another superstar, and potentially a superstar to build the team around after the Kobe era. Sad part is, I am somewhat of a Lakers fan (at least grew up a Lakers fan), but I just don't like how they consistently manage to take all the headlines. Maybe I just like competitive balance too much, hahaha.
