It has to be somewhat telling that LB and Wade weren't there.

Y'all know the real reason why there's a strike this year, right?
The rest of the teams don't want to play b-ball cuz they KNOW the LeHeat will win it. Hell, I'd be on strike too if I had to face them in the course of the season.
Uncle!

ya....I think their tournament schedule is more important there, not the regular season. I could be wrong...

I posted on this earlier, but Manila is one lucky city...
Kobe to join up with other NBA players in the Philippines. Apparently, it was just the 9 man squad headlined by Derrick Rose and Kevin Durant, then they asked Kobe since he was in the area.
IMO? Kobe heard these guys might steal his thunder, so he made sure to play. Other than say, Manny Pacquaio, Kobe's likely the most popular athlete in the Philippines.

MB.com - The Philippines must think this NBA lockout is best thing since lumpia as NBA Stars have arrived on their island country today. The nine-man team comprised of Javale McGree, Tyreke Evans, James Harden, and Rookie Derrick Williams have arrived and are waiting for Chris Paul, Kevind Durant, current NBA MVP Derrick Rose, and our Lakers own Derek Fisher. Kobe Bryant is currently wrapping up his China Tour in Shanghai and is expected to arrive on Friday, which would already be the second time Kobe's been to the island in the last 2 weeks.

I think that depends on the player though....
Kobe or Deron Williams, I think they would have an out clause. Sasha Vujacic (who signed with the same team that got Deron and wants Kobe) probably doesn't have the same pull, so no out-clause.
Plus, a guy like Sasha is probably comfortable in europe anyways (he started in the italian league).

Drifting
In wake of seeing that video of Jordan dunking recently. I want the league to start a owners/executives/coaches/commentators league. I think they're still under payroll during the lockout, so might as well use them. You can have like:
Mark Jackson
MJ
Larry Bird
Kevin McHale
Patrick Ewing
vs.
Isaiah Thomas... well he might not be under payroll, but might as well be working for Dolan. Plus I just want to see him on the court again with
Joe Dumars
Dominique
rehire Kurt Rambis (so we can have Rambis/McHale again)
Kareem
Add in guys off the bench like: Avery Johnson, Scott Skiles, Mo Cheeks, Laimbeer, Sam Cassell, Mourning, Dantley, Byron Scott, Brian Shaw, Robert Pack, Nate McMillan, Doc Rivers, Majerle, Alex English. I probably forgot a bunch of guys too.
Maybe can even recruit the ABC/TNT/ESPN guys: Reggie, Kenny, Chuck, Legs, Bowen, etc.

Team Owner
Man I heard Zo on the radio yesterday. This lockout is fucking ridiculous. Zo for many years throws his Zo's Summer Groove www.zsg.com where for charity he does a celeb basketball game, comedy show, fundraising dinner, and concert. They're going to have Dave Chappelle and DL Hughley for comedy and Alicia Keys and have had Usher in concert. But thanks to this retarded lockout they can't do the basketball game since Zo is a team employee. He can't even talk about the issue and was only able to confirm that the celeb game wasn't being held this year. Plus Wade in the last few years was added to all the photos and everything which they had to take down since players and teams can't interact. Way to go NBA

Hey all,
No offense to the Celtics or the Heat, but the real Big 3 are going to grace the cover of NBA 2k12:
Magic, Larry, and Michael are going to grace the cover of the next NBA 2k12.

Can you guess which one I'm going to pick up?

Now that the system has fixed itself, the LeHeat will win the next 20 Titles. So, expect the Big 2 and a Fifth to be on the covers for the next 20 years. I don't expect a different player on the 2K games until NBA 2K21.

NBA Select team vs. PBA Select team.
Sorry about the filipino accents. Most of the time they speak in English.
This one is part 4 of 9, but the rest of the links are over under the suggested links on the right.

Interestingly, many of the Filipino team are what's called 'Fil-Am' or Filipino Americans (like me) that grew up here in the US and went back to play. That gives you an idea of the talent and height discrepancy between the teams (the US guys weren't good enough to even sniff a NBA spot here after college). They're getting better over there, but you can't teach height....
I'd skip parts 1-3...its all opening festivities stuff. Suffice it to say, this was a major event for the Philippines.

Yessir....
Some observations:
James Harden was pretty impressive. He's much more athletic than he's given credit for...he's gotta get out from Westbrooks shadow IMO.
Derek Fisher was getting crossed up multiple times, by what's probably D-league talent (and that's being extremely optimistic). Thanks for the memories Fish, but please take a seat on the bench now....in a suit and tie, with a clipboard in hand.
Jevale McGee planked in the middle of the game, lol...
