NBA: 2011-2012 Season News and Discussion Thread

Clippers were 8 up in the 4th, I thought they would close. Griffin showed some hustle after loose balls but he and CP3 looked banged up late in the game. Frickin Grizzles couldn't make their free throws at the end, I thought Clippers still had a chance. They blew it by not fouling after sinking that tre at the end though.
Big game 7s for Hollywood today and tomorrow. OKC and SA getting a lot of much needed rest, with the truncated season they are probably loving every minute of it.

That said, I hope both LA teams win.

This was one of many bad calls by the refs last night
Evans technical for a high five

The most valuable franchise and the franchise with the most hype this year, playing more games than anyone. Any wonder that these revenue sharing franchises are playing more than the others? Kinda makes up for lost time and revenue with the lockout, eh?
I'll take off my tinfoil hat now....

I'm disappointed in the lack of hype for the Clippers/Grizz game 7 today. Must be Mother's Day getting in the freaking way.
Fucking awesome game, probably the best in the season. There wasn't any whining, flopping, or bitching. It was just rough, physical basketball that reminded me of the 90s games. They collectively decided it was time to stop fuckin' around and play like they want it.

So, a question for the LA fans here. Are the Clippers and Lakers sorta like the Cubs/White Sox thing for MLB...?
What I mean is, you cheer for one and should not cheer for the other? Sure, the Clips and Lakers share the same court. But, just wondering how it works.

I understand that other teams hate Blake because of his dunks and nobody wants to be "posterized" but this has been brought up several times earlier in the season. If people are going to dunk, it is what it is.... it's part of basketball.. but to pull this shit is just f'd up

I think refs didn't realize what happened because right after it happened, everyone else had already started running upcourt.
I think Z-Bo will be fined quite soon though.
Some, like Chris Webber had said, think it was a boy-cries-wolf situation. Blake is notorious for flopping like a trout on dry land; do it enough and the refs will think anytime you're on the ground is a flop. Refs did not give a damn about flopping this game, which I liked. But Blake losing his balance because of that punch was definitely legit.

he better be fined or suspension (beginning of the next season), because otherwise, it's basically saying to the rest of the league "It's okay, as long as you get away with it"

My view is that most people that were Laker fans first and that had a passing interest in the Clips as the 'little brother' team don't mind rooting for them. They were never a threat, so there was no harm in doing so.
However, the diehard Clipper fans that weren't Laker fans to begin with tend not to like the Lakers pretty much for the same reasons everyone else does. I don't find many Clippers-first fans that enjoy the Lakers success as I do for the Clips.
In a series, I'd ultimately take the Lakers...these roots for me go DEEP (fanship passed down from my dad, 10 championships in my lifetime, yada yada). But i think its pretty cool the Clips are in it too. Love CP3 more so that any Laker right now.
I feel the same way about Kings/Ducks and Dodgers/Angels. I root for the home teams, but ultimately, I'll be a homer for the traditional LA team (Lakers, Kings, Dodgers) when push comes to shove.
Sorry...long answer...

I have to admit that I get super excited about the Lakers, but not really about the Clippers.

I cheer for both also, and nobody really cares. As I explain it, I am and always will be a Laker fan first, but I am an NBA fan second. I enjoy watching every game and every team, usually, maybe not a Bobcats game last season. Point being, I do enjoy watching Clipper games, but I don't have the same vested interest in them winning.

The score will be a few points less lop-sided, that's all. Just a few. Still expect at least a million in terms of differential.
