The Knicks pulled off 2 Big trades today, Jamal Crawford for Al Harrington and Zach Randolph for Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas... This will free up a HUGE amount of cap space in the offseason to go after the likes of Lebron, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Amare Stoudamire, and some other big guys..

I wonder if the clips will keep all 3 bigmen. Seems like a lot to have like 35mil tied up in the front court. I'd like to see them try to work it out, rotate all three of them ala the Lakers. I think kaman might be the one that doesn't fit in the best, but obviously camby is not a long term solution. I'd much rather see them drop skinner, hart & maybe P.Davis than Kaman or Camby to try to find another 2 guard, unless ricky davis & eric gordon can really step up. I'd like to see DeAndre Jordan activated more often as well.

^As ridiculous as it sounds you have a point. It seems that all the teams outside of last year's Finals are waiting for Summer 2010. It's almost like you want to get frozen like Cartman and wait for that Summer.

camby will be playing against his old team tonight too. He didn't play in the season opener. And hopefully randolph will be playing as well.
still a lot of speculation about having 3 bigs for the clips, but w/ Gordon hitting for 25 in his first start, things might not be quite as weak at the 2 guard spot as people think.

heat also gave the clips the 3rd win of the season . Right now as long as the clips stay ahead of the Thunder in the win column, i'll be reasonably happy, but they still need to pull it together. Looks like the injury bug might start hurting them again though

Not sure if it's discussed yet...but, seriously...what's the deal behind the drama with Marbury and the Knicks? Who's the retard in this situation? Or is that a rhetorical question?

yea, funny that both teams feel they got gypped in the call. If it really was heat ball they should've had an easy bucket. Clips announcers showed the replay like 10 times saying dwade touched the ref and it should've been their ball.
in the end it's a lose/lose situation for the refs, and I don't like controversial calls that decide a game either, but I guess the clips luckily came out w/ the W

I don't blame marbury for wanting his money. No way he will get that much anywhere else, and he'd have to play another like 20 years to make the 20mil he's owed. But it is obvious that it's all about the money for him. He really stopped caring about the game a long time ago.
if the knicks really wanted him to play, they could force him to. I remember after the trades, d'antoni said there were minutes available if he wanted them. That's more an offer than telling him he has to play. I don't think they were justified in the suspension.
They should just suck it up and pay him, cause it is pretty obvious he's not going to play, and they are going to have to pay him eventually to sit on the bench.

I'm not a Marbury fan - don't like him, don't want him on my team, But in this case I have to side with him - he's got/getting screwed. If you are told from the beginning that you aren't part of the team, and D'antoni is putting scrubs in ahead of you, then what is the point of telling him you can go in now that a bunch of players are hurt. Just so your other players don't get tired? I see no point to it except to show a complete lack of respect. Which he is..D'antoni may talk nice but you know he is sticking it to him for the Phoenix days. And Marbury is right - Richardson and his teamates are bitches. Happy that Marbury is on the bench so they can get more playing time, and then bitching when he doesn't want to go in. What kind of nonsense is that? Noone is for the team - everyone is for themselves.
I do think Marbury should just take whatever money they offer and go - He's overpaid to begin with.

Yea I'm right there with you lowpost, Marbury is an over paied douche and I don't like him as a person or a ball player. Is he talented? Yes. But, would I want him on my team, NO!
However, is he really getting screwed by the team he is playing for right now and I would probably also refuse to play if I were him after the way he has been treated this year.
The Good unrelated news is that the Blazers beat the Pistons, and in an Ironic twist Alderage dropped 28 on Wallace, when before the game is an interview Alderage was called a young Rasheed.

sounds like there is some turmoil in detroit over that blazers game. I wish I got to see it. Prince sounds frustrated.
I'm hoping for a Prince/Kaman trade . I think Prince has the talent to play anywhere from the 1-4 position, and the clips have potential starters in thornton/gordon at the 3/2, but the talent drops abruptly from there, especially w/ ricky davis in his 'slump'/injured.
won't happen, but I can dream...too bad I hear kaman might be out for up to two weeks.

The Pistons didn't play poorly that day by any means, Blazers just played better that day,but when both Roy and Alderage are on, its really hard to stop them. Oden does not even really need to score, just grab rebounds and block some shots on the defensive end which is what he did that night, along with 10 points to boot.

Yeah there have been Marbury rumors for weeks. I say stick with Chalmers and let him develop. Livingston is our long term project anyways.
As for Starbury. WTF. He's an employee of the NY Knicks. He gets paid $20 million which is 20 millionX more than what he deserves. If the coach tells him to play even though he "disrespects" him by not playing him in other games, then he should play. Why should a player undermine his contract and not play when told to. That's called employee insubordination. It's not like anyone called him an asshole, bitch, or nigger. He can't get fired because he has a contract. Unfortunately for owners, the collective bargaining agreement doesn't allow a team to cut a player for non-performance or insubordination. If they were in the NFL, that guy would've been retired years ago since he would've been cut the second he pulled that shit. I'm not against the CBA but I think the player and his agent have abused it to the Nth degree. I understand a player has to watch his own back and I whole heartedly agree that you should get paid as much as you can in the short time of your life that you can play. But Marbury is taking advantage of this. He already has the money and is sitting on it. I just hope that other players don't follow suit.
Plus I agree with Quentin Richardson's comments. In that game they needed Marbury since guys were hurt and tired. The players had to pick up the slack since he didn't want to play which affects team performance and wins. Imagine if you were at work/school and you have a group project and then when the project was due in a week one of you colleagues told you he wasn't going to do their part. That happened in my class in college once and we left the guy out of the presentation and he collected his F. He was like WTF and we explained to him how he never went to the group meetings, never contributed, and didn't turn in anything. He had nothing to say. Since Marbury can't be punished, of course his teammates will be pissed. If he doesn't want to play basketball he should do the right thing and retire and put more stupid tattoos on his head.

Doom-Heat have been playing like ballers lately, saw they won a barn burner last night.
Blazers play at the Knicks in about two hours, interested to see some Starbury antics from the bench and the new look team. This will be 5 in a row if we win again

Awesome that they outscored a high scoring team like GS. Of course I wasn't crazy to give up that many points.
Speaking of Oden did you hear that for some stupid ESPN reason, Lil Wayne has a sports blog. He's already calling Oden a bust. I was like WTF.

RAPTORS FIRE MITCHELL, TRIANO TAKES OVER ON INTERIM BASIS
Sam Mitchell was fired as head coach of the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, a day after the team suffered the fifth worst defeat in franchise history, a 132-93 loss to the Denver Nuggets.
Raptors President and General Manager Bryan Colangelo called it a "difficult but necessary step the franchise must take."
"It's safe to say that after the debacle that we all witnessed last night against Denver - a 39-point loss - not to mention several other incidents this early season where we gave up double-digit leads or had mental breakdowns with respect to the effort on the court," Colangelo said in a conference call. "You come to a point where you realize some of the things you want to see out on the court are not taking place."
In an exclusive interview with TSN, Mitchell spoke 'Up Front' with Michael Landsberg on 'Off the Record' after the firing, and was asked if he was surprised by the move.
"When you have tough games and the expectations are high, and you're not meeting those expectations, then you can be subject to something like this happening," Mitchell told OTR. "It's not about being shocked or not shocked. It's unfortunate that it happened, but these things happen."
Landsberg asked Mitchell if he felt 17 games was a fair amount of time for the coach to put his stamp on the Raptors' team.
"I don't want to get into what's fair or not fair," Mitchell replied. "I learned a long time ago that the world's not fair and life isn't always fair. I had a great run. I have nothing but respect for the people at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. I have a lot to be thankful for. They gave me an opportunity to have a career in coaching, which is something I always wanted to do after I played."
"It's a disappointment that I wasn't going to get a chance to finish what I started, but I feel like I accomplished a lot of good things there. I think the players that played for me all got better. Even the players who moved on to other teams have gotten better, so instead of looking back at the disappointing part of it, I want to look back at all the good things that happened."
Mitchell also told OTR he did not want to get into particulars about whether or not he knew his job was on the line prior to being fired.
He did say that he had a chance to talk to a few of the players before leaving, but that he wanted to move on to avoid being a distraction.
"I felt like the best thing I could do was, once the decision is made, you need to get on out of there so those guys can move forward and continue to try to do the things that they need to do."
"You get a sense when people are being heard, or disregarded," Colangelo said about Mitchell's relationship with the team. "I have to say Sam has always had a relationship with the players...There comes a time when you feel that the best way to improve a situation is to make a change at the top and a change in the voice."
Mitchell did offer some gracious parting words to the city that has watched the ups and downs of the Raptors' squad since he took the helm four and a half years ago.
"I'd like to thank all the fans in Toronto, who always treated me well and supported me," Mitchell told Landsberg. "It's a great city and a great sports town and I wish them well."
"We appreciate all that Sam has done for the organization, applaud him for his successes and wish him nothing but the best with his future in basketball," Colangelo added in a statement.
In the interim, Canadian assistant coach Jay Triano will assume the position of head coach. Triano, the longest-serving member of the coaching staff, becomes the first Canadian-born head coach in NBA history. Colangelo said that Triano would likely stay on as coach for the rest of the season. The remainder of the coaching staff will continue with the organization.
"It's a little bittersweet," Triano said in a conference call. "Sam...gave me the opportunity to work with him, and was great to work with. When you're together for three-and-a-half years, as well as being coaches you become friends, so it's a little bittersweet that way. But it's an opportunity and I look forward to moving forward and seeing what we can do with this basketball team."
"I have a lot of respect for Jay's basketball acumen," Colangelo said. "He will be a fresh voice for the players to listen to."
The Raptors are off to a disappointing 8-9 start to the season, and have suffered back-to-back defeats on their current road trip - the Denver game, as well as Sunday's 112-99 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
"It comes down to an entire body of work that you study," he added. "You look at all the circumstances that may have gone into our failures and there comes a time when you can honestly say it is time to make a coaching change, and that realization was met over a period now of a couple of weeks, with finality of (Tuesday) night after the game."
Despite the Raptors' slow start, power forward Chris Bosh has posted MVP type numbers this season. He's second in league scoring averaging 26.6 points per game. The six-year pro is also pulling down 10.3 rebounds per game.
Mitchell was named the sixth head coach in Raptors history June 29, 2004. He posted a 156-189 (.452) record in his four-plus seasons at the helm of the Raptors. He garnered the Red Auerbach Trophy as the NBA Coach of the Year for the 2006-07 season. In May of 2007, he was awarded a four-year, $12-million contract extension with the team.
He also captured The Sporting News 2007 NBA Coach of the Year honours in a vote among his head coaching peers. In January 2007, Mitchell became only the second coach in Raptors history to earn Eastern Conference Coach of the Month honours.
Jay Triano is in his seventh season as a member of the Raptors' coaching staff. He became the first Canadian born and Canadian trained coach in the NBA when he served as an assistant coach to Lenny Wilkens during the 2002-03 season.
A native of Niagara Falls, Triano was the head coach of the Canadian men's national team from 1998-2004 posting a 52-42 (.553) record. He led Canada to a semifinal berth in the 2003 FIBA Americas Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Puerto Rico and to a 5-2 record, second best to the United States, in the 2000 Olympics.
Triano served as interim head coach for one game last season when Mitchell was away for a personal family matter. The Raptors defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, 105-82, on February 10 at Air Canada Centre.
Triano's first game as interim head coach will be Friday when the Raptors visit the Utah Jazz. Game time is 10:30 ET. The game will be broadcast live TSN and TSN HD.

Ill bet Oden could take Lil Wane in 1 on 1, until then he should shut the hell up.

Exactly. The point is they don't need Oden to score huge points. Let him come along slowly and heal up. ESPN should've closed that Wayne blog by now. I've seen those comments in 3 different publications.

I have Richardson on my fantasy team. He goes from #1 option to like 2-4 now. I'm sure Stoudamire and sometimes Shaq will get the low feeds. Richardson will fight with Barnes now for shots.
