I haven't said much but, seriously, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop with these Cubs.

It should be interesting if the mets get into wildcard and win the wildcard as we swept the cubs last year. I know it was last year and the teams are different but the mets are hot and I'm sure that will linger in the cubbies minds

Woke up to this yesterday. Very sad for our Cuban community and he personified rags to riches but in the Cuban style that many families here went through in escaping Cuba in a boat. This guy unknowingly saved his mom's life in one of the 4 attempts to get to America by boat. Brought his grandmother over also and was expecting a baby with his gf. Plus as a baseball player holy shit. This guy was on his way and I loved that with all at stake he still had fun and loved the game. One of my friends was close to one of the other victims also.

Jose was suppose to pitch yesterday but got pushed to Monday vs the Mets as his last outing he threw a lot of pitches so he was given an extra days rest! Cant help but think if he was in his normal scheduled start he probably wouldnt even have been on that boat that night!
I was looking forward to watching him pitch versus my mets tonight. He was so awesome to watch on that mound. Reminded me a lot of Pedro. Still had a whole lifetime ahead of him.
I hope they have a very nice ceremony for him at the game tonight

What upsets me more are the children that were fans of his and how they're upset they lost their Pedro Martinez or whatever player we grew up admiring at their age. I think the closest thing to this might be when Roberto Clemente died but he already had a long career and I don't think I was alive when he died.

Being that the vast majority of Miami is Cuban, it's really sad. My co-workers aren't really talking about it but a lot of them aren't Cuban. However people with older Cuban parents or younger children are really affected. Dan Le Batard was interviewed on Sportscenter this morning and had to stop because he couldn't stop crying. He was mostly affected since his mom was a big fan of Fernandez and she was really upset as she was also one who escaped Cuba and still has relatives there.

Having to live in South Florida for the majority of my life, This hit hard, Jose and Stanton would be the only reason why i would go to a Marlins game. But beyond baseball, Jose is the role model you would want any kid to look up to. Like Doom said, his obstacles defecting from Cuba and not having his grandmother not being at his games. Its just really hard to see that he is passed on. I am still in shock as we speak and only could imagine what his whole family is going through right now.. His passion for the game and smile will sorely be missed..

Damn man. Im not sure how I feel about the game tonight . Of course I want the Mets to win but id be happy if the Marlins got a W too
Ive been reading that they may vote him for the NL Cy Young! That would be amazing. Jose was certainly my favourite pitcher other than Thor but he was a lot funner to watch thats for sure.

The Fish/Mets game was pretty special...you'd need to be a heartless @$$ not feel a lump watching that.
Definitely a memorable game.
