Cano Wants $300M Deal
Yeah. Because. He's got kids to feed.
From TSN:
From TSN:
If the Yankees wish to keep soon-to-be-free-agent second baseman Robinson Cano in pinstripes, it looks like it won't come cheap.
Multiple reports – including one from ESPN's Buster Olney – have Cano's salary demands at a 10-year deal worth a staggering $305 million.
The numbers may seem staggering, but, according to ESPN.com the figures are not unprecedented in Major League Baseball nor even for the Yankees.
The $305 million total is exactly the amount Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez would earn over the duration of his current deal, were he to hit all his built-in incentives. Cano has 27 home runs and 106 runs batted-in for the Yankees in 2013. The 30-year-old has racked up 204 home runs and 821 RBI with a .309 career batting average in 1,371 career games with the Yankees.
He has been selected to five All-Star Games over his nine seasons in The Bronx, winning two Gold Glove Awards, four Silver Sluggers. He has helped the Yankees qualify for the playoffs in every season he's played save two (2008 and 2013), winning a 2009 World Series ring.
Cano has already become one of just 14 second basemen in Major League history to surpass the 200-home run plateau. He was originally signed by the Yankees as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic as an 18-year-old in 2001.
He is currently in the final year of a six-year deal he signed with the Yankees worth a total of $57 million. Cano switched representation earlier this season, signing on with Roc Nation Sports – backed by hip hop artist Jay-Z. Prior to signing on with Roc Nation, Cano was represented by Scott Boras, the agent responsible for negotiating Rodriguez's record-breaking deal with the Yankees in late 2007.

They'd be stupid to give him that. They should let his ass go and use that money to sign several other players. The Yanks have too many holes in their lineup to blow their wad on this guy.
Won't matter anyway because my A's will still beat that ass!!

Well, that didn't take long...
Can't win a ballgame when you have 2 on with 1 out more than once and can't drive anyone in. Great pitching my Tampa last night, gotta hand it to them they were just the better team.
I guess I can't complain too much, the Indians went from ~90 losses last year to ~90 wins this year. Still would have been nice to have playoff baseball back for longer than one game...

Well, I predicted Pirates in 5, just didn't want to go back to the red birds, didn't really want to face Wainright either

Pirates got beat, they needed to close it out at home, I definitely did not want to go face Wainwright at home. Either way, 21 years without a playoff appearance is over, was still a great season overall.

Bandwagon homer says
Fenway is 101 years old, in 101 years the Sox have won the world series there 2 times. If you aren't 95 years old or older, I'm gonna say that's a once in a lifetime experience.
