Sure it will be easy for them thay had a full day of rest(which is anything but. They still go out and ride for 3 to 4 hours) after 15 days of riding and 1500 miles covered.

I totally agree. If Lance has to defend each attack by himself, it won't be hard for Vino and Kloeden to tire Armstrong out and have Ullrich put in the final touch.

i'll catch it live here on the west coast. i have another network (10G) upgrade from 2-6am
fast - there's some spectulation that disco was bluffing...doubtful... but we'll find out in a few hours.

Lance is the man! nothing like shredding the field, eh?
T-mobile was MIA. Basso was over a minute back. Lots more racing including the ITT but unless Lance/DC make some huge mistakes it'll be 7 for LA.

forgot to mention Popo! crashes earlier in the day and is still the last disco guy to stay w/lance. it was awesome to see lance tell popo to put the hammer down! great ride by disco!

I think that whole stage was a gimmick by the Discovery Team. I think they're trying to get the other teams thinking that they're in horrific shape for the mountains, but when the time comes, they'll push it into high gear and demolish everyone. Kinda like the way Lance played mind games with Ullrich the other year.

16:47 CEST
Horner, Julich and Botero are gone. Ullrich looks grim, Vinokourov stony-faced both just on Armstrong's wheel, with three other Discover riders left setting the pace. Mancebo, Valverde, Landis, Leipheimer, Rasmussen, Klöden, Kashechkin and Evans are all still in there.
16:51 CEST
Rasmussen and Valverde look relatively comfortable; Vinokourov has dropped to the back of the group.
Pereiro is caught.
Hincapie drops off, just Popovych left for Armstrong now.
16:54 CEST 11.5km/169.5km to go
Vinokourov is being dropped on one of the steeper sections (big climbs always gets steeper through villages, where the engineers have less space to play with), along with Pereiro who was hanging in there for a bit.
16:57 CEST
Popovych is putting in a kick, to launch Armstrong, and suddenly it's down to half a dozen: Basso is on Armstrong's wheel, but Ullrich is dropped - T-Mobile are out of it. Rasmussen, Valverde are up there as are Mancebo and Evans. Valverde moves through to take up the pace.

Tomarrow is going to be another killer day
Col de la Madeleine (km 55, HC climb, 2000m, 25.4km at 6.1%)
Col du Telegraphe (km 110, Cat. 1 climb, 1566m, 12km at 6.7%)
Col du Galibier (km 133, HC climb, 2645m, 17.5km at 6.9%)
55Km of climbing with a average gradiant of 6.1% or greater.
For thoes of you that don't have an idea of what that is like. Think most of the hills in San Fransisco of 25km.

today was one of the best tour stages i've ever watched, and tomorrow will only be better!
Great ride for Lance today, Rasmussen too. Iles Baleares for the win, who would have thunk it.

and boy what a differance. went on a 3 hour ride this morning, and wasn't sore anywhere for the first time in years.

Looseing Triki yesterday will hurt Lance a little, but I think the team is strong enough that they should be able to over come it.
Although that is a crappy way to have to go out of the tour. Crashing on the uphill and hitting his head hard enough that he was disoriented.

It'll be interesting to see how everyone is feeling. today was brutal. t-mobile blew up the race and isolated lance but he was equal to the task. how about kloden chasing down vino on the final climb??
#114
Anyone else get the feeling that Ullrich and Kloden don't like Vino.
Hopfully. Lance needs to win at least one stage this year. Not like 2000 when he won the jersey without winning a single stage.
