great finish today, i thought McEwen had it!

also great to see Voeckler in a jersey again this year, that kid has some serious heart, and with last year's experience, i think we'll see him at the finish line.

Hmm was searching for it there and still can't find it. I did see an audio steams link yesterday but didn't see the tour de france on it. I'll have to check in the morning, they might remove the link during the day when other programming is on.

So disappointed at OLN, I enjoy hearing good ol' Phil Leggit, Paul Sherwin, and Bob Roll, it used to be a tradition to watch them until they yanked the programming.

I remember talking to someone and their son went on a trip to France with this US group tour. You pay money and they take you all around France bicycling and they do some of the routes in the mountains that the pros take. Man that must be nuts! I wish I had the website linked.

Good find, I remember reading his journals last year but totally forgot about it this year! Great getting a real first hand account of what goes on.

Team Time Trial tomarrow.

Should be good. Discovery next to last than team CSC.
Lance should be in first after this and probably Hincapie second.

Wow what a nice biter that was!!! great ride by the DC and CSC. Feel horrible for DaveZ though.

That puts an additonal 20 seconds on Basso and 30 on the TM guys.

WOW amazing drama at the end. CSC would have won if it wasn't for the fall. What a horrible way to lose the yellow jersey.

Yeah, it would have been really close if he hadn't fallen.

T-Mobile did a lot better than I had expected.

Man, Zabriske looks really beaten up. I haven't seen the clip yet, but I'll be watching the rerun tonight on OLN.

You've obviously never crashed a bike at anything over 10mph.

ROAD RASH sucks and hurts like hell. Picking pebbles and shit out of your skin that is left (This is the main reason that cyclists shave their legs, easier to clean and bandage, and you don't get it quite as bad. The pebbles on the road will grab the hair on your legs and rip it out by the root causing even worse road rash and pain.) .

Yes you don't break anything sliding the way he did, but I will tell you from experience that it is pure agony.

Man when I was a kid I was running full speed and a kid tripped me from behind and I slid hand first into the asphalt and man, my hands were freakin tore up, blisters formed, skin was peeled, rocks and other crap was all in my hands. Nasty. Then the peroxide, ahhhhhh. Can't imagine at 30MPH...

How could to tour officials do this.

The basically forced Lance into the yellow, even though he didn't want to wear it becaus the unofficial code is not to don the Yellow jersey if you get it because of a crash.

CHAMBORD, France -- Lance Armstrong didn't want to wear the leader's yellow jersey in the Tour de France on Wednesday -- until race officials asked him to reconsider.

The 33-year-old American set off in his Discovery Channel uniform as the cyclists began a pre-race ride, but race officials stopped everybody before the starting line and asked him to wear it.

The six-time Tour winner started the day opting not to wear the leader's yellow jersey, citing "respect" for Zabriskie.

"There was no problem, just a little confusion in the beginning, having not started in the jersey," Armstrong said. "I didn't feel that it was right to start in the jersey."

Tour director Jean-Marie Leblanc got strict about the rule book, which states that the overall race leader "must wear" the yellow jersey.

"There was no negotiation," Armstrong said. "Jean-Marie said: 'You don't start in the jersey, and you don't start tomorrow."'

Before the stage, Armstrong wanted to follow an unofficial tradition by not donning the jersey.

"In light of the tradition of the last 30 or 40 years, no one really takes it if there is a crash" involving the race leader, he said. "We decided to leave it empty today."

In the past, Eddy Merckx and Greg LeMond both refused to wear the yellow jersey after the previous holder -- Spain's Luis Ocana and Dane Rolf Sorensen respectively -- had crashed.

Zabriskie was touched by Armstrong's wish to not to wear the yellow jersey as a sign of respect for his unlucky compatriot.

"That was a nice gesture," Zabriskie said.

"When he told me I said 'I hope they don't kick you out of the race' and just after that they told him he had to put it on. He wore it but I appreciate what he did."

Zabriskie needed stitches to close a gash on his right arm, but X-rays on his right knee, elbow and wrist showed no broken bones, CSC team spokesman Brian Nygaard said.

Before the fourth stage Tuesday, Zabriskie led Armstrong by 2 seconds in the standings. Discovery's team director, Johan Bruyneel, said Zabriskie was unlucky with the crash, and his riders weren't going to take advantage.

"It would have been likely that Zabriskie would have kept the jersey," Bruyneel said. "You don't take the jersey from somebody who has crashed out."

I can see both sides of the coin, in the end, it's the gesture that counts anyways, and DZ surely knows Lance was sincere, and i'm sure that's a boost to his morale after yesterday.

Great win for McEwen today, he's by far my fav sprinter, his wheelie skills are 2nd to none

If Lance's teammates can't help him out, he's in big trouble. T-Mobile, with Jan, Vino and Kloden, will eat him alive if Lance has to fend for himself through the mountains.
