Thankfully no Subban.
Unfortunately they let them hang around the D Zone and take the lead with 5 seconds left

The longest NHL playoff overtime game in history is the 1936 NHL Semis game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Montreal Maroons, which lasted 116 minutes and 30 seconds over six overtime periods. Mud Bruneteau of the Red Wings scored the winning goal at 16:30 of the sixth overtime.

The Avs need to show up on time to play and stop spotting teams early goals. None of them were even Georgiev fault in this game. He played stellar and the team didn't come to play in front of him. Disappointing that they could have been up 2-0 going back to Colorado. I get you can't win them all but the first two periods the entire team just look uninspired to do anything.

Rangers look really good. Canes are fun team and I like them but I suspect, they are not built for the playoffs...

Lots of mistakes & 2 weak goals by Igor. The first goal Goodrow assisted Carolina on was inexcusable.
If all the posts had gone in it would have been a 7-6 game for the Rangers.
Hopefully, they pull it together & finish it off tomorrow.

Igor looked human for the first time in the playoffs. Not sure I would be worried with him only looking human in 1 of 8 games so far

I will never understand how they can go from outplaying the opponent hugely, then looking like they have no clue how the game is played, they have done it all year.

I am thoroughly disgusted at the Nichushkin news last night. Literally a kick in the balls for the season. This is now three incidents in 12 months and back to back seasons he has derailed the Avs playoffs. I love the player but hate the person. I hope he gets help with his deamons and it will be a huge loss to the team to lose that caliber of a player but you just can't keep him around and rely on him anymore.

I was hoping for a close game and wow, Avs just look lost. Not sure how that was possible. Toews was also out too which may have been a factor. I expect Denver to win Game 5.

If you look at the statistics with Nichushkin in the lineup. They are slightly under .500 with him out and they are like .700 with him in the lineup. It is a insanely large change in the way the team functions. It is a bigger single change than when Rantenaan misses games and he is a 100pt player each of the last two seasons and had Nichushkin played the full season he was on pay for aroudn 75-80pts. The rest of the game he brings is just so important to the team.
I full expected exactly what happened once it came out before I even heard the additional news a little bit later of Toews being out.
It was a roller coast of a day for them. Getting Jonathan Drouin back in the morning to be icing the best lineup of hte playoffs for the team only later to learn Nichushkin was done for the year and Toews a little while later. This lineup was to be the best team they had iced since the cup win. Had Logan O'Connor not been injured for the season around the deadline I would argue even that it was better than the cup run. Our third line would have been as good better than half the leagues second lines.

Personally I just think it was the emotion of loosing him again for the entire playoffs and then adding on Toews as well just made it worse and such a huge mountain.

Again, I just think Avs are too deep to not make a strong comeback. We'll see. Just didn't realize Dallas was THIS good.

Proves though, the importance of defence and someone like Toews on that blueline.

Nichushkin was a Selke candidate fairly recently too. My impression of him is he's a bit like Patrick Sharp or Hossa-LITE. So, that's a pretty good player and lynchpin for the forecheck and also chipping in routinely with goals and assists. You need players like this to go with your Ferraris (i.e. Nate).
Again, I just think Avs are too deep to not make a strong comeback. We'll see. Just didn't realize Dallas was THIS good.

Hossa-LITE is a great way to put it. Perfect comparison. Just so all the small things right while still being offensively very competent. His forchecking I would say is almost elite. I don't think they can make a come back this year with all this personally unless Landeskog magically plays in game 5 which isn't happening. Just don't see them winning 3 in a row at this point. I hated the fact we were going to have to play Dallas if they beat Vegas which they obviously did. I would rather have played Vegas. I always thought Dallas and Colorado were the two most complete teams in the west.
I'd pick those 2 over the Oiler duo of McDavid and Leon anyday.

Wow, did Oilers somehow get smiled on by hockey Gods...though...it's debatable if Leon had a high-stick to keep that puck in the zone...
I had thought Dallas/Avs will go distance but, shoot, Nucks/Oil just may go 7...

Next jersey up, Igor 2024 3rd.
The real problem (IMHO) has been the dumping pucks. They have given up a slew of goals on dump outs across the net TO an opposing player! WTF?????
Then there are the dump ins, that are just giveaways & end up rushes back in to their zone & the losing battles on the boards/letting them hang around the O Zone for a month & that end up in the net. Igor is great, he is not a wall.

The Avs played like a team that was done sulking after losing a key piece and didn't want to start their summer just yet. Hopefully, that can improve on that with home crowd energy on Friday and push it to game 7.
I still think something looks off with MacKinnon though. Multiple times he couldn't pull away from guys in last nights game where you would usually expect him to have a step or two on them for a cleaner shot opportunity. I think there might be some sort of injury he is dealing with. The Stars are really not known as a speed team.
