As constructed, I suspect your team has giant holes as well. Chicago's is easy: Blueline is toast. Keith and Seabrook both are no 1st-pairings anymore...they need to be 2nd and 3rd pairing respectively. In place, a high-caliber puck-mover who is responsible and not stupid.

We can't be successful giving up that many shots each night. What's even worse, the lack of defense isn't translating into a stellar offense.

You're asking if the team that acquired the best d-man in a trade now suddenly has problems...? It depends on what shot the player is from and if it infringes on the destination team's current d-corp. There are alot of factors and not a matter of fantasy hockey. Which team are you referring to?

Rangers traded McDonough, they were defensively poor with him, now they are horrible at best. They got draft picks basically that have not played a game in the NHL.
