Still, give the Oil cred for tying it in crunch time. So, to see the against the Thrashers is puzzling.

We agree Edmonton is officially the most overrated team in the League? Kinda crazy how all the experts had them pegged as a Cup Finalist.

Wow, Patrick...what a maroon. What a nintrumpoop. His idiotic penalty basically handed the Kings the game. 3 PPGs off the match penalty.

Game. Set. Match. Maroon.

Holy cow...Darren Dreger is one of the most trusted and reliable NHL insiders...so, he's never wrong...

He reported that the Oil was THIS close to trading Hall for..................

Cody Ceci!??

It was mere luck that Sharelli avoided shooting himself in BOTH feet and "upgraded" to get Larsson from NJ. It is now confirmed that Pistol Pete is one of the worst GMs in all of hockey.

WOW. https://oilersnation.com/2018/01/04/...lmost-a-thing/

I just watched a segment on Sidney Crosby during the first intermission of the penguins/islanders game. I've got so much respect for that guy.

Rangers were slow, left Hank unprotected and soooo many turnovers but Hank saved me from having to leave the looser. WTF is wrong with them???

0& there were more Ranger fans than Coyotes fans.

Watching Hawks/Oil tilt.

Seriously, this Oil team is more and more resembling the Denver Nordiques' first season with Patrick Roy as coach. Cuz, after that, the Nordiques were well, the Nordiques.

Oil are the same. Sharelli or someone in Edmonton really blew this.

Awesome game on Sunday night against the B's. Pens go up 3-1 in the first, then down 5-3 in the second, get a last second goal in the second to make it 5-4, end up tying it in the third and winning in OT after Toucan Sam Marchand misses his penalty shot with a minute left in the game. Malkin wins it in OT. One of the most exciting games that I've been to in quite a while, was a fun night.

Man, the freaking Bruins clutch and grab like no other team I've seen, every shift 1 hand on the stick and the other hand grabbing an opposing player, ridiculous! Over all, still was a fun game though

So, aside from the topsy-turvy of the Vegas Golden Girls being pretty darn good, I'd say the season has reverted to what we are generally used to.

...that includes the Oil yet again, contending for a lottery pick.

How many #1 overall picks does it take to get Edmonton into ROUTINE contention? Not 1. Not 2. Not 3. Not 4. Not McDavid. Not 5. Not 6. Not 7...etc. etc. etc.

Definitely more in quantity than who showed up for Dumb@$$'s inauguration.

Yep. We all know it's going to happen. Who's career are we ruining next year?

I heard a stat today... of our 12 forwards, 11 have NOT scored in 6 fucking games. Fuxk you chiarelli, and your shitty fucking trades.

fans have reverted to booing the oilers at home games again. Just awful. Everyone is pissed.

Just saw a list of all the skilled and high-end players Sharelli has moved out in his career as a GM to-date that has owned him since. Hory shet.

Still WTFBBQing that report about Hall for Sisi. WOW.

So, if a team is lucky, Sharelli will trade McDavid for a 5th round pick and etc. soon.

Having watched the last 2 games against Chicago, I will say this: The Oil look "slow". And I think the fact that Sharelli built this team to resemble the apeness of the Deano-This-and-Deano-That dinosaurs in LA that won 2 Cups before that got blown up is probably a problem. The better teams now are all freaking fast...and of the fastest is the newest and supposedly the team that only was supposed to float water: Las Vegas. They are freaking fast. Oilers...not so much except for McDavid. Combined to that is that Sharelli's dice-roll on that blueline has blown up. I don't see any competent puck movers who can get that rubber up to a McDavid easily. ONLY rarely you will have a time where he takes that puck and goes 0-60 in a 1 second and blows by a team (yesterday against Nashville in the 2nd). Otherwise, how often can that happen?

Cleftbomb sucks. Larsson is meh. And having no Sekarsis all season until now and not addressing that hole has tanked Edmonton. Again.

And it's disgusting. Another lottery pick.

So, Hawks start off the second half of the season like the 1st half...destroying a team by a bazillion goals. So, naturally, after yesterday's game, the offense will dry up and they will be middling again shortly.

The sad thing is... mclelland may get shit canned for it soon. Chiarelli will fire him before himself. I dint feel this is mclellands fault... maybe a wee bit... But 90% is on chiarelli.

you can't give a coach chicken shit and expect him to make chicken soup. There's only so much he can do from the bench.

Coach Todd's resume in playoffs isn't great but he's a respected coach around the League for a reason. Firing him is stupidity if Edmonton proceeds.

Mind you, I don't get what goes on in that Oilers' brass' thinking. But, hey...stock-piling high picks and ruining them is definitely one of the core strategies though.

I just realized, Sharelli et al just burned a precious year of McDavid's entry-level deal. And now, good luck trying to build a winner with both his and Drysightoes' contracts kicking in next.

They're definitely going to be in cap hell with those 2 deals going in, as well as some of their other long term deals in place...

Coach Todd hasn't done well in the playoffs, but, he always had sharks at the top of the conference for every season he coached. He was doing something right- his regular season stats are pretty good.

Show pity on us, yumcha. No one wants to be where we are. Fans are so upset with what is going on. I'm starting to wonder if the owner, Katz, gets involved more than he should. I don't know how else you explain so many bad trades. Unless chiarelli is just not suited for the job, and got lucky in the past.

I feel bad for fans like you. But, I'm an angry NHL fan because unless the system and dice rolls against your team, Edmonton yet again, will be taking a top player who they do not deserve. How many chances should an NHL team get at such incompetence...? It's one thing to see a franchise take that mega-player and turn things around like the Pens, Hawks, and even in some ways, LA. But, dammit dude...Number 1 after number 1 after number 1 after number 1.

I will have to read up on the new lottery system but please tell me Edmonton has zero shot at #1 overall and that it goes to the Yotes? Cuz, if not...yeah, it's not about feeling sorry for you Edmonton fans. It's about being pissed off that your team gets another high-end player. Only to watch the team destroy him.

Just read the revised rules. Shiet. Edmonton is CURRENTLY the 5th worst team. But, the position of 3rd worst is very easy to attain since 5, 4, and 3 are all separated by 1 point.

So, yes. Edmonton has a shot at the #1 overall pick again if they continue at their current rate this season.

The whole Edmonton fiasco can simply be described as...

I don't follow them much but Talbot being below average doesn't help at all. It's obviously more than the goalie but team confidence starts in the crease.

Taking that name-brand debate again, I'll say the reason Edmonton stinks is not Talbot. Goalies are a reflection of the team in front of them...Patrick Roy or Terry Sawchuk could be in net for the Oil right now and they'd have awful numbers.

100% agree & it's a double edged sword to say the least. A goalie's confidence relies on how well the team is playing in front of him (& in his head) but the team's confidence starts with how much of an anchor he is back there. If they don't think they can make the risky play or up the pressure consistently without fearing one ending up in the back of the net then the whole team is just gonna spiral into pretty much what we're seeing now, a disaster.

Did that make sense? .. I just speak from experience since I've been a goalie my whole life and confidence is a deal breaker. If you "think" the team doesn't believe in you, then you start doubting yourself & it doesn't end well for anyone.
