I always turn in for every game 7 hoping they will be good down to the wire hockey games. This was not it. I left dissapointed before the game was even over.

Man that Dallas/Blues game was brutal. I turned the TV on about half way through and saw it was 5-0. It's nice to see Dallas made it as far as they did, but realistically, there's no way they would've gone any further, even if they did win yesterday.
And as for the Blues... I'm not particularly a fan of them either. But, I heard on the radio today that they've been in the playoffs 41 times now... and have never won. It'd be nice to see a team like that finally get a cup.

Well, at some point in this bazillion year rebuild, I'm sure the no-defense strategy will work.
If Edmonton does zip with the #4 pick and does NOT trade one of their supposed precious "core" players to get the proper d-man...I guess we can look forward to who the Failboats draft #1 overall next season then.

Anyways, just defies all logic. I just don't get how a team could've been THAT bad. Even horrid teams (i.e. the Dark Ages for my Hawks in the 90s) at least flirted with being competitive and were NOT #1 overall drafting year after year after year.
Again, change of management. Blame the dummies (MacTavish and Lowe) of yesteryear. You also can't expect new management to come in and have a new team that very season. They need to properly review each and every player before anything moves.
They got the coach they needed. They got rid of Schultz after seeing that it wasn't the coaching staffs fault. He really was a bum. They've made some beneficial moves already, like Maroon, who although is nowhere near being a top player, he fills a much needed void, past the first two lines, that they needed. He brings the grit with occasional scoring that they need.
Now they're hunting d-men. It's no secret. But they aren't going to go and move everyone right now. That would be stupid also. They're no waiting for trade season. It's also been said loud and clear that the "core" will be broken up. No one knows who is going, but someone definitely is.
You're expecting these wild trades and big moves right off the bat, which would be nice to see, however, it would also be extremely foolish of Chiarelli to do so. He was also bound by some shitty contracts. Now he's getting the freedom he needs.
So while it may "seem" to you that they aren't doing anything, you have to give your head a shake. I'm not sure how much faster you expect change to happen. I agree- there was at least 8 seasons of shit in there. I feel we've actually started to properly rebuild about a year ago.

Toronna tanked properly to get ONE #1 overall pick. They sold off vets and are embracing a full rebuild for the first time ever. Their plan.
