The Bolts are peaking at the right time. But their only draw back is playoff experience.

The truth is the Eastern conference is so stacked this year all those teams need to be on the list, including the defending champs NJ, Philly, Boston, and Montreal. All these teams are within a few points of each other and any one of them can end the year in first place.

Also from the west I'd say Vancouver has a chance, even without Bertuzzi that maniac.
yes thank you fdl

please add Vancouver to ur poll plz tho maybe i will be the only one

I think it could be anybodies cup however I only added the top 2 teams in each conference. That's why I asked to post below. I have said this every year since Toronto was moved to the East... "I would love to see a Detroit vs Toronto finals!" I think Toronto did a good job of aquiring Ron Francis. It should be a great playoff season.

On a more personal note I hope Vancouver get bumped early. That crap Bertuzzi pulled is not good for the game. He's a goon. I hope he does some jail time.

It will be their last crack at the Grail - next year they'll have to play in a senior's league.

So...can my vote be changed to Toronto?

So far I still have Detroit vs Toronto as my pick in the Cup finals...that'd be an awesome series!! Chelios vs Belfour

I liked him up until that disgusting display. It was a chicken sh!t move. He fractured the guys neck! The good thing is nobody is going to be playing against him.

You know, it's been so long since a Canadian team won the cup, I should have left Ottawa out of the poll too.

Hockey has turned bad. I don't watch it anymore. Every time I tune to a game I see fights. The sport needs to change. It's sad.

Everyone talks about payback. But, wasn't the Naslund injury due to a legal hit?

If he sucker punched someone like that outside of the game he would have gotten jail time. Yes, you don't know how he broke his neck, could have been fall or the 4 guys on top of him, but he should be suspended and they should investigate criminal charges.

The punch alone made him drop to the ground face first. He could have broken his neck right there. He intended to hurt him and did.

legal or non legal...naslund still got a concussion..which made Bertuzzi retailiate like that...its part of the game...although Bertuzzi stepped over the line.

if a player gets cross checked face first into the boards...whoever cross checked him...next time he is on the ice is going to get a fist thrown at him...its the game.

I agree that hockey is the last sport to not have pansies, but the fighting is stupid...I'd rather see a good clean hit. I played for 11 years and remember when the NHL was very popular, then it expanded and got really lame. The NHL needs to change back to the way it was, less teams and better HITTING. Not more stupid bench clearing brawls.

Bertuzzi 'japped' him, well at least that's what we call it out here. NOW, how many times has that happened in hockey followed by a grappling and pile-on. If any of you guys think he had any idea the extent of his damage when he pushed him down your high. Accidental man, accidental in terms of breaking his neck. Hockey is all about 'paying your dues' from other games, cheap shots, etc.

Anybody read that article in FHM last month about the other league up in Canada where fighting is pretty much encouraged? Pretty interesting.

That's exactly my point. Yeah, sure anybody would seek revenge but he did it in an illegal way. Most players go after someone with a clean check or a legal hit.

Same thing around here with the hit Ulf Samuelsson put on Cam Neely back in the day. That hit was clean. Ulfie may have been a less-than-saintly prick when he played for Hartford and Pittsburgh (and whomever else), but that particular play was legal. Unfortunate, yes...dirty, no.

Going way back, I remember when Chris Nilan knocked all of Rick Middleton's teeth out with the butt of his stick...he got a 5 minute major. Middleton's teeth and blood were all over the ice, that was fucked up.

Yup. Hardly the proudest moment for Knuckles or any Canadiens fan.

Way to be a good Bostonian, Chris.

i think if they took fighting out of hockey it would be so much better for the sport, like say if you do so much as to drop your gloves and start fighting you are suspended for 82 games without pay.. this would keep the players from fighting and they wont be thinking about retaliation in future games and there will be much more concentration on the game itself. retaliation on bertuzzi wont be so easy, hes a beast! he better get some jail time..

go bruins

I was surprised to read that Bertuzzi made the allstar game last year and this year - not your average goon sent to take someone out.

They'll never take fighting out of hockey completely - the fans love it too much (ala crashes in auto racing) and the tempers run too high when people are laying completely legal hits on each other all game long.

Anyone remember when Dave Brown (Philadelphia) crosschecked Tomas Sandstrom (New York Rangers) in the head, and received a 12-game suspension that was appealed to 8 games, I believe? Yeah, that's a real deterrent. :shakehd:

Dino Ciccarelli spent a couple hours in jail, signing autographs no less, for swinging his stick like a bat at Luke Richardson's head/back.
