Panarin has three assists so far in his CBJ debut, impressive.

Maybe you should cheer for the Isles too since they have a real native Beijing-born Chinese in their system. (still playing in the USHL, though)

This is the shirt I'm wearing right now. I have 8 of them that I purchased for like 50¢ about 10 years ago. I call them work shirts/paint shirts etc. They are comfortable.

I made the mistake of stopping through Pittsburgh wearing one earlier this year. That won't happen again.

So, Ovie with another 4 goals...Leaves and Rangers go ballistic and score 13 altogether...

Okiedokie. Hockey this year has just been insanity.

Pens have 19 back to backs, the most of any team in the league, including mostly home and aways. Saw today that Edmonton doesn't have a single back to back in all of October.... how nice for them

Ovy is obviously back on the roids, his goal production tanked the last few years after that roids investigation in DC where the Capitals were named, and all the sudden he's a scoring machine again

Hawks vs. the Leaves tonight. Should be interesting to see what'll happen given how high-scoring both squads have been so far.

If it were not for Forsberg, I would think the Leafs would've won this before it got to OT.

I dunno but Hawks seemed to take their foot off the pedal after going up 2. So, good on Toronto on not giving up.

Forsberg was definitely a game changer for the Hawks throughout the game.

Should be an eventful season if we can tigthen up defensively

I was admittedly more distracted by the Bears game since I wanted to scope out their new QB...

But, the Hawks/Leaves tilt started to go sidways for Chicago when players like Toews continually got tossed out of the face-off dot. I guess the new face-off rules will need to be practiced but that did NOT help the Hawks in the game to lose so many face-offs esp. when their Mr. Automatic at the dot kept getting thrown out. Playing with a 2-0 and then 3-1 lead had Chicago playing prevent-D which I hate. They allowed the Leaves to go on the attack more (and alternatively, the Leaves were losing and so, had to press)...

Having Anisimov, who is a nice player, back centering the 2nd line gave Chicago a significantly different look versus the one with Schmaltz who is blisteringly fast and a much better fit with Kane and Hartman. The latter would've been tremendously useful against such a fast TO squad.

Anyways, I like where the Leaves are going and were impressed regardless. They arguably have the pieces in place that if they continue to develop, will get them to be a contender. Matthews is going to be the face of USA hockey soon IMO (versus Kane).

Early still...but, Oilers are about to go 1-4 if tonight's score continues. Whalers are up 3-0 after 1.

I think the trickle effect of Sekera is possibly factoring into the team defense. Hockey is weird like that...how a key piece places everyone else in the right spot.

Or, maybe the Oil let the pre-season predictions get to their heads and thought the League would just "part the seas" and let them waltz into the Cup Final?

No, no... we had our "run" and are now back on the hunt for the first round draft pick

I missed last night's game, But, draisaitl was also out for at least 1.5 games. They moved that rookie Kailer Yamamoto into his spot not only was that retarded, Draisaitl is a major factor on that team. I love that guy. When he's with McD, everyone tries stopping him while Draisaitl dumps points in. With him gone it's just McD getting swarmed.

And yes, missing Sekera is big too. Much bigger than I anticipated. It seems we have no depth again. They lose a couple guys and they're getting Ls game in, game out now.

LOL, seriously dude...if Edmonton gets another #1 overall pick, I'll stop watching hockey forever.

They cannot be that bad with McDavid. Alone, that guy should be able to help the squad win a few games. I would suspect the lottery teams are still the ones anticipated to be (i.e. Vancouver et al). But, per Sekera, I think we talked about his injury being a large gap simply because of the pulling the kids will need to do in his place on the blueline. Klefbom and Nurse may be studs but d-men take a long time to develop overall and without a veteran, steady guy to help in the top 4, the entire spotlight is on them. That's like a project and losing a 25% resource...that's alot.

I did channel-surf to one of the recent Oilers games that they got absolutely spanked in...I always thought Edmonton would be speed and speed but Ottawa ran circles around them. And then it hit me...the big-bodies that Sharelli likes to have to maybe play against the Sharks, Ducks, and Kings? Well, they are also the slowest ones. I wonder if he put too much emphasis on size over speed? The best teams in the League now are freaking fast. And I was surprised to note Edmonton is just not that quick. Jokinen, Strome, Maroon, Lucic, and etc. are not the fastest guys out there.

Anyways, it's still early. But, I'm gathering the Oilers fans are getting a little nervous?

I believe Edmonton takes on Chicago next? Let's hope the Hawks are not the Hawks that let the Oilers trounce them a few times before.

Hilarious to see NBC dialing back their hype about Edmonton when all summer long they were hyping them as cup favorites

Mebbe the rest of the League took this premature crowning personally.

The thing is, on paper, Edmonton looks talented. But, if they aren't working hard or playing smart, they can be as talented as the SJ Sharks of a couple years back and still never win the Cup or get to the Final.

Sharelli may have overplayed his hand when he made the team as "heavy" as it is at the cost of speed. The League's best teams right now are freaking fast.

we do have some fast guys. McD, Nugent-Hopkins, Drake Caggiula, Kailer Yamamoto, etc.

But then we have anvils like Patrick Maroon, Lucic, etc. Nothing as bad as Jagr, though

Hawks are always such accommodating hosts. They make the League's worst PK look like the #1-ranked killing unit.

Pens place Niemi on waivers

Niemi

I was a big fan of his and hoped he'd work out as a backup, but after 3 horrible showings and going 0-3, it just wasn't working out.

Did you observe the team to play differently in front of him? The Niemi I know wasn't horrid despite what Deano would tell me...

And what's even crazy is that your Pens are letting go a FINLANDIAN. There goes your chance to 3-peat.

They played a lot more lax and almost nervous in front of him. I don't think it's all his fault, these back to backs after playing 200+ games the past 2 seasons are definitely hurting them especially with all the travel, but it's no excuse. He let in a number of goals that he should have had, just a shame

So, it's a combo of things: Tired team in front of the back-up because of back-to-back. Basketcase goalie because he knows his squad ahead are tired...

Anyways, hope Nemo lands on his feet. Good teammate and in the right team, he can be good...after all, he did win a Cup with the apparently, empty-net Hawks. Cuz, Deano said so.

You're welcome. And our GM once again makes a short sighted move because he can't manage a team in the post-cap era other than sign homers to long-term overpaid contracts.

derp.
