Sorry about your hawks Yummy, but it's time for a changing of the guard in the West. The Hawks have played ton of extra hockey the last 6 or 7 years and have lost some key components. Interesting to see where the West goes from here. I'm expecting Anaheim and Nashville to have it out, the Sharks are looking good but tired, and Edmonton is showing it's lack of experience

It got annoying when the Wilds failed to score on their 1000 chances in OT. Seems that happens alot. One team fails to capitalize, the other scores.

Honestly, they've exceeded every expectation I had for them this year. I have no idea how much longer they will go, or what to expect. This "run" feels much different than the 05/06 run.... They seemed much more confident back then... Yet they're a better overall team this time. Odd.
Reaching the top 8 feels very satisfying though. I'll just enjoy it a game at a time, hope for the best and just see what happens. On paper, they are very closely matched with the ducks. I guess we will see what the playoffs hold for either team.
I will be in LA for the start of this series. I'm trying to convince wifey to go see a game in Anaheim.

Brutal but good series, Chara is an absolute war horse!
So awesome that MacArthur scores the series winner after almost 2 years out
with concussions. And Nicholle Anderson, wearing the only red
sweater in the arena - sweet!

Sharks looked old and tired, Edmonton is definitely the Cinderella story this year. Also, conrats to the Domcha Leaves, they gave the Craps a hell of a series.

Too bad for the Leafs, but really, they went up against a serious [regular season] powerhouse. I don't think anyone is really surprised they lost.
The fact they beat the Caps twice and overall gave them a good run for their money was a lot more surprising. I consider the Leafs as still a rebuilding team. They were pretty good this year in a very tough conference, but I think they will only improve over the next year or two. At least their young guns got some experience in the first round.
It's crazy to think of the Leafs as a powerful team, going forward. It's been way too long

Well, a crazy fact is 3 of the top performing regular season teams (Jackets, Wild, and Hawks) are all now golfing with the eventual Cup winners, the Kings.
So, there's a bit of a weirdness there...and the fact that the Preds were the first #8 seed to wipe out the #1 seed in the opening round. OUCH.
I'm looking forward to the Ducks/Oilers matchup and the well, Caps/Pens. The rest while are compelling, I'm sure, the must-watch TV for moi are both those series. On paper (JUST ON PAPER), the Ducks seem to overmatch the Oilers esp. on their blueline and depth at center. Then again, we thought that too with the Sharks and we all know what the Dwarves are doing now (golfing with the previously mentioned 4 teams). Kesler up against McDavid is going to be interesting...and a test on the kid's patience. Good luck, Oilers!
And the Caps well...
I think they'll go up 3-1 in the series only to watch it unravel...because well, Capitals.

There was quite the "fire Coach Q" yammering among some of the fan base.
I'm like, wow...you want to fire one of the all-time leaders in wins and multi-Cup winner coach because he had a bunch of kids and depleted depth to work with...? It's not like the Hawks were the Kings and missed the playoffs a couple of times already...
Oh wait...but, Kings missed those ON PURPOSE. Cuz, Deano is never wrong. And never in cap hell.

Hey, I didn't draw that! It is funny though!
Let's see how the start of round 2 goes tonight. Like I said before, something feels different this time around, as opposed to 05/06. They're a better team overall, but I have less confidence in them, and I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe they just gelled better last time... we didn't put a up a lot of goals in round 1 and that in itself is worrisome. McDavid was shutdown hard through all 6 games.

Looks like Carlyle's strategy is to have Kesler shadow McEdmonton's line...
Can't stand Kesler...hope McAlberta pwns him in this series.

Hey Ottawa, I call BS!!!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottawa_Senators
The team that won the cups is in St. Louis, you were formed in '92
Ottawa had been home to the original Senators, a founding NHL franchise and 11-time Stanley Cup champions. After the NHL expanded to the United States in the late 1920s, the original Senators' eventual financial losses forced the franchise to move to St. Louis in 1934 operating as the Eagles while a Senators senior amateur team took over the Senators' place in Ottawa. The NHL team was unsuccessful in St. Louis, and planned to return to Ottawa, but the NHL decided instead to suspend the franchise and transfer the players to other NHL teams.

Fifty-four years later, after the NHL announced plans to expand, Ottawa real estate developer Bruce Firestone decided along with colleagues Cyril Leeder and Randy Sexton that Ottawa was now able to support an NHL franchise, and the group proceeded to put a bid together. His firm, Terrace Investments, did not have the liquid assets to finance the expansion fee and the team, but the group conceived a strategy to leverage a land development. In 1989, after finding a suitable site on farmland just west of Ottawa in Kanata on which to construct a new arena, Terrace announced its intention to win a franchise and launched a successful "Bring Back the Senators" campaign to both woo the public and persuade the NHL that the city could support an NHL franchise. Public support was high and the group would secure over 11,000 season ticket pledges.[7] On December 12, 1990, the NHL approved a new franchise for Firestone's group, to start play in the 1992–93 season.[3]

@ Sens and Oilers...
Wow, it's still a long-shot but an all-Canuckian Cup Final...? That'd be very neat.

If this keeps up, Caps are just doing their annual thing...
OUCH. Still not too late to mount a comeback but to go down 2 zip and then head to Pittsburgh is um...yeah. Let's see what happens for the rest of this game.
