yes, the head allows the club to "slide" through the grass which could tangle up a wedge and cause an inconsistent face contact. hold it a bit lower on the grip and use small stroke, as you would imagine the ROI in using a wood means the ball will move fast.

From the second cut (fringe) I use my 9 iron through my 5 iron. 9 iron for short chips and up to a 5 iron for long ones. But also I`m not against using my putter if it`s really short. You should use a three wood if the ball is stuck between the fringe and the grass.

Went to the U.S. Open in 1990 only because a friend of a friend was in the tourney, Mike Donald. But for sure will be at Erin Hills next year, it`s about a half hour from my house.

It was a great day, perfect weather, and great experience all around. I had been to the US Men's Open in 2007 and the Women's Open in 2010, but this was as just as fun as the others that I went to. Here's some pics that I snapped.

Soaking wet and muddy, but it was a fun but long day at the PGA Championship. We were on site from 8 am to 6 pm and decided to beat the crowds home. We walked 8 miles throughout the day and saw all the big names. Pics are below.
