Really thought that Spieth was going to pull it out for a while.

Rory should have run away with the Green Jacket. Friday he was lipping cups left and right. Kind of feel bad for the guy! It's amazing how the rainy weather made Augusta's greens pretty easy. Some low scores were posted both Saturday/Sunday when it got softer.
Flashback to the U.S. Open at Erin Hills when all the haters saying it wasn't a U.S. Open course. Go play it when there hasn't been any rain! This just goes to show if the greens are soft any one of the pros will rip it up!

So sad Ricky never seems to be able to make that last final push on Sunday correctly. Had he not faultered on a few holes he would have been at least 15 under.
I also don't like seeing the winner being 15 under in a Major. I really like to see them all struggle just to get 3 or 4 under for 72 hole event for Majors.

I was pulling for Fowler as well. Not a fan of either Rory or Reed

Fowler definitely fell apart, so did Rory, those Sunday pin placements are tough

I think a few pin placements on Saturday were unfair but other than that I thought the course was great. I am a big fan of links style courses as well. Personally as a golfer I get enjoyment to watch an occasional tournament where these guys really struggle. I don't want to see every tournament be -10 or -16 under for the win. I want to watch exactly what we just got. Who can survive the golf course the best. Koepka's performance was incredible. Also some history was made being only the 7th player to win back to back US Opens and they couldn't have been anymore different. Last year he finished -16 under to win it and this year was a torture test +1 victory. The guy has a complete game to take on any course when he is on.

course was a par 70 with 4 par fours (or more?) with @500yds or more.... wonder if they called the course a 72 if the golfers would still be complaining. Koepka would have been a -7 FTW.
Couple tough pin placements, but the golfers were being babies. If you roll off, that's the breaks. It's golf. Seems like they just want to go in there and have everything predictable so they look good on TV.

Phil taking that penalty was hilarious but I didn't blame him. Fleetwood missing that birdy putt on 18 with the chance to make history was gut-wrenching, but still impressive that he shot 63 on that course

Yeah I did notice a bit more yelling from the crowd than usual. I mean you always hear it here and there on tee shots but it was like on every shot almost it seemed this time.

Been waiting for a while to see someone break the 63 record at a major as it has come up a lot in recent years. Really though he had a chance the way he was playing Sunday but just wasn't meant to be I guess. A 63 on that course is damn impressive.

I saw his interview and didn't hear him say anything like that? You could see how bad he wanted the 62 and was crushed when he didn't get it.

I mean you can't really single out Tiger unless you have something against him.
By the same standards Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Sergio Garcia, and Jason Day also had great performances....

He is an expert at his job. Are experts in your field of work wandering around uninformed of unusual situations and outcomes and/or unable to quickly adapt to them?

USGA admits Shinnecock Hills not up to par Saturday at U.S. Open
.... we would admit, well-executed shots were not only not regarded, but were punished,” said Mike Davis, USGA executive director.
“We would say that it was a very tough test, and really too tough this afternoon … It got too tough today in some areas. If we got a mulligan, we would have slowed the greens down this afternoon. ....

Tiger vs Phil head to head for $10mill

Two months ago at the Players Championship, where Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson were paired together for the first two rounds, Mickelson suggested he and his rival-turned-friend Woods skip the tournament stuff and play a "high-stakes, winner-take-all match."
It would appear that the two players are ready to put their money where their mouths are, as a report from Golf.com's Alan Shipnuck suggests the two legends are planning a head-to-head match for $10 million.
In fact, the match is so close to being a reality that it almost happened on July 3 in Las Vegas. "We're working on a different date," Mickelson told Shipnuck. "I thought it was done for the 3rd but obviously it wasn't." Tiger's reps, true to form, declined to comment.
Mickelson also said that both players would be willing to wear microphones to enhance the spectacle of the made-for-TV matchup.
Woods and Mickelson have warmed up to each other after years and years of, to put it kindly, a respectful distaste for one another. The two players, who have combined to win 19 majors and spent years perched atop the world rankings, played a practice round before the Masters and have both spoken about softening toward each other as they advance deep into the home stretches of their respective careers. Shipnuck's story details their mutual warming-up process, which he says began at the 2014 Ryder Cup.
Still, the budding friendship hasn't stopped either man from taking good-natured jabs at the other, jokes that in hindsight might have been made with this match in mind. Back at the Players, after he proposed the match, Mickelson wondered whether Woods "wants a piece of me." To that, Tiger repsonded, "First of all...big picture. How many times have we both won on Tour?" Woods, for the record, has 79 PGA Tour victories to Mickelson's 43.
"We'll play for whatever makes him comfortable," Woods, whose net worth is estimated to be in excess $740 million, also said.
Both players have had resurgent seasons, as Mickelson picked up his first win since the 2013 British Open at the WGC-Mexico Championship in February. Woods, who did not play at all in 2017 as he recovered from spinal fusion surgery, has five top-12 finishes in 11 starts and is all the way up to No. 67 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Happy for Tiger, it's been a long 5 years watching him struggle with back issues and such. Was bummed he couldn't win the FedEx cup there at the end, but it was exciting to watch
