Great game, and dominating performance by USA!

Carli Lloyd absolutely took over that game in the first 15, that half field shot was ridiculous

Definitely was an entertaining tilt to the end

@ FIFA rankings. It really is a mystery how these are calculated, and just by looking at them, they are completely pointless...

The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking - Ranking Table - FIFA.com

Some standout WTFs..

Romania #8
Wales #10
Chile ONLY #11? Easily top 5.
USA down 7 spots to #34 after 5 straight wins.. 2 vs the number 2 and 5 ranked teams

I don't know if anybody saw the Mexico vs Trinidad game. But for the ref to give a penalty in EXTRA TIME OF EXTRA TIME.. that was unbelievable. I feel bad for T&T. HORRIBLE call. HORRIBLE. That game should have gone to PKs.

The ref should be fired.
The Mexican player who got 'shoved' actually flopped like Mexicans do so well, and deserved a yellow for the flop.
The Mexican player actually should have been sent off earlier in the game for a bad 2 foot tackle.

Disgusting call and disgusting way to end a game.

What another fucking abomination of refereeing decisions.

I'm ok with the USA losing to Jamaica. That call against Guzan for having the ball over the 18 yard box line was something that I don't think I've ever seen before and I know will never see again... because every single goalie does that. But in all, the USA didn't bring their A game and Jamaica was surprisingly up to the task and deserved the victory. Congrats to them.

As far as the Mexico vs Panama game.. well now we know the FIFA still has power and rigged this cup to make sure Mexico gets to the final.. you know.. so they can get all that money from the Mexican fans watching it on TV.

The red card against Panama was a fucking joke. Calling the handball pk was a fucking joke. Yes, the 2nd pk was an obvious penalty, but the game shouldn't even have gone to that point since the first pk should have never happened.

I feel very bad for Costa Rica and Panama, literally being assfucked by the CONCACAF higher ups doing whatever necessary to get Mexico into the final.

And those Mexican fans throwing shit all over the Panama players (not the first time I've seen their fans do that).. what class. Wait, I mean.. go back to Mexico. I thought Texas Tech fans were bad.. Mexican fans put them to shame.

And finally, to all of Jamaica: sorry you already lost the final to Mexico due to a pk that will be called in the 88th minute

Mexico fired Herrera. They say because he assaulted a tv reporter in an airport. I say because the team played like shit all gold cup, even though they won it.

In other news... more Blatter corruption

Sepp Blatter Admits FIFA Awarded 2018 World Cup to Russia Before Vote Took Place

Suspended FIFA president Sepp Blatter has indicated that it was decided the 2018 World Cup would be hosted by Russia before the voting even took place.

Blatter also revealed that it was "agreed" the World Cup would return to the USA in 2022 before UEFA chief Michel Platini angled for Qatar and changed the voting.

Talking to Russian outlet TASS (h/t Press Association Sport, via ESPN FC), the 79-year-old effectively admitted that the three bids that went up against Russia to host the 2018 tournament—England, Spain-Portugal and Netherlands-Belgium—never stood a chance:

In 2010 we had a discussion of the World Cup and then we went to a double decision. For the World Cups it was agreed that we go to Russia because it's never been in Russia, eastern Europe, and for 2022 we go back to America. And so we will have the World Cup in the two biggest political powers.

And everything was good until the moment when [then French president Nicolas] Sarkozy came in a meeting with the crown prince of Qatar, who is now the ruler of Qatar. And at a lunch afterwards with Mr Platini he said it would be good to go to Qatar. And this has changed all pattern.

There was an election by secret ballot. Four votes from Europe went away from the USA and so the result was 14 to eight. If you put the four votes, it would have been 12 to 10. If the USA was given the World Cup, we would only speak about the wonderful World Cup 2018 in Russia and we would not speak about any problems at FIFA.

BREAKING NEWS: Gianni Infantino is the new FIFA president.

Gianni Infantino has been elected as the new president of Fifa, having been voted in to replace the disgraced Sepp Blatter at Friday’s election in Zurich.

The Uefa general secretary beat Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa, Prince Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan and the former Fifa deputy general secretary Jérôme Champagne. The South African Tokyo Sexwale withdrew moments before the first vote.

Sheikh Salman had been favourite to succeed Blatter because of support from the Asia and Africa, while Infantino had the backing of Uefa members.

Voting went to a second round after none of the candidates received the required two-thirds majority in the first round at the extraordinary congress. Infantino led the first round, with 88 of the 207 votes cast, ahead of Sheikh Salman’s 85 votes, Prince Ali’s 27 and Champagne’s seven.

It was the first time voting for the Fifa presidential election had reached a second round since 1974, when João Havelange of Brazil became the first non-European president ahead of England’s Sir Stanley Rous.

A two-thirds majority (138 votes) was required to win in the first round, but a simple majority of more than 50% (104 votes) was sufficient for victory in the second round.

Infantino secured 115 votes to Sheikh Salman’s 88 to become the second successive Swiss president, after Blatter.

Yea. Honestly, USA didn't look that bad. I thought most of the match was fairly even. But yea, the 2 goals don't help. And I wasn't entirely on board with that pk handball... nothing he could really do.. in fact it looked like he was trying to get his hand out of the way.

Did you think it was handball at the end of the Paraguay/Costa Rica game? I missed the USA game but saw the 2nd half of this one. And that red card, what an idiot making that foul.

Didn't watch that game.

I watched the Ecuador vs Brazil game and Ecuador looks good/Brazil doesn't look that good.

As much as I don't like Mexico, they looked good yesterday.

Tonight's game Argentina vs Chile should be the best one yet.

I'd say USA is pretty much through. All they need is a tie.

Damn Uruguay is disappointing, didn't see that. But I also think no Suarez is a big reason why.
