A buddy at work completely agrees with you-#1 won't drop if they win, no matter what. I disagree though. Why do we care what happened last year? The reason I think it matters is because when it comes down to play off time, a 2 seed versus a 1 seed CAN matter. There is absolutely no reason the defending champs should get a free pass to #1 just because they win out, especially if their schedule is weak. Admittedly, if OSU wins out and beats MSU, then they probably deserve to be #1 (depends on if LSU and Ole Miss can go undefeated in the SEC West). However, I don't think OSU could beat MSU tomorrow. Not sure why they are a "heavy #1" other than your bias.
Edit: I also find it HILARIOUS your think schedules don't matter. It's almost as if you have forgotten the 2013 season completely.

Goddam A&M 's D needs to stop Arkansas' pass and run. I know their O line is massive but come on.. Hall and Garrett should use their speed and get in on that!

Arkansas played a hell of a game. Their only problem was their winning edge relied upon keeping the ball out of the other team's hands. I think the better team won.
There is no other option. "Best" is relative.

UCLA surprised me. I assumed they were overrated.
My same assumption about Oregon was apparently right though.

I agree 100% they don't matter yet. But then why do we have them? If they don't matter, they shouldn't exist. If they do exist, they have some impact, and they should be consistent.

OSU vs MSU will certainly be a good game. Their "big win" means less and less though. We will see them in Columbus soon enough.
And the schedule does matter. But not yet. Schedules are made years in advance. Until the season is coming to a close and we know where the cards really fall...I completely dismiss strength of schedules.
What you do have is everyone bitching about them. Why? Because there are two B1G schools on top right now. What's a SECer to do when that happens? Bitch. Bitch just like they did last year... and then had to eat their words.

I had heard that Buckeyes were cocky, and I already knew that you were cocky, but damn.
Yes, heavy bias. The polls don't mean anything when OSU can hardly handle an mediocre FCS team and stay number one. Anyone with any objectivity could see that.
SEC'ers bitching? I have one interest, TAMU. I couldn't care less that 8 of 14 SEC teams couldn't beat a dead horse. See my previous post in this thread. The league is mediocre and the East is awful. Still, I also couldn't care less that the Big 10 has two teams that are worth half a shit. Ole Miss would stomp OSU if they played tomorrow. That's why the polls don't matter. They have no bearing on who is the best RIGHT NOW. They care more about who was the best last January, and I can't imagine how that is relevant.

I wasn't going to mention strength of schedule, but here is why it really does matter. Kevin Sumlin and Texas A&M can pull a win on anyone in the country any given Saturday. But when you play Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Miss. St., Auburn, and Arkansas every single year, you are going to drop at least one of those. When you glide through your season with no real obstacles and go on to win two big games, you have only proven you can win two big games. Meanwhile, some other team on the sidelines has also proven they can win two big games, but they get no recognition.
I will admit that the playoff system has added that you win at least 3 big games.
Don't get me wrong, I believe OSU was the best team last year. Their offensive line and running back played lights out down the stretch. But what happened last year shouldn't matter. A decent number of teams at the end of this year will have won three big games and won't get comparable recognition if a weak conference team wins it all.

No that's not being cocky, that's being defensive. There's a difference. Don't fucking laugh at me or belittle my common opinion in the middle of a flowing conversation and not expect to get some flak in return.
The polls DO matter. And they AREN'T bias. Do you watch any non-game football programming, listen to the radio, or read any articles? God I hope not.

I'm surprised Ole Miss fell as far as they did. Florida looks legit.
Solid game all around by the Ag's. Now to prepare for redemption.

Florida has an easy road to Atlanta, but we will see how good they really are in two weeks when they go to Death Valley.

I wouldn't count on anything when you are playing Fournette. That guy is a beast. He reminds me of Adrian Peterson but with brute force replacing amazing speed. I am really not looking forward to playing him.

LSU has not played a team with as good of a defense as UF yet. Still, I expect him to rack up about 100 yards.

Besides MSU -vs- Michigan next week, I don't see any games worth watching in the near future. Too bad OSU gets to play both of them at the end of the season. I would have my money on either of those teams this week.

This week, nothing worth watching imo.
Next week, plenty to watch. A&M vs Bama and Florida vs LSU are both going to be 5x more exciting than Mich vs MSU.
Yea, Mich and MSU are ranked, but both SEC games will definitely be more exciting to watch. I dunno what it is, but imo Big 10 football is just boring to watch.

I meant B1G games in the near future. There are literally three that seem interesting all season and they all involve MSU, OSU, and Michigan.
There are PLENTY of other games that will be exciting this season.

Looks like Strong saved his job for at least another season.
Hoping Arkansas can beat up on Alabama tonight but not beat them.
There were two defenses in that game?

Florida's Grier suspended for a year for PEDs.
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-...174436999.html
Florida starting quarterback Will Grier has been suspended for one year after reportedly testing positive for performance enhancing drugs. Mike Huguenin of Gridironnow.com had the initial report of the suspension.
Florida coach Jim McElwain confirmed the report at his Monday press conference. Grier also spoke to the media and said he took an over-the-counter supplement. The supplement in question was Ligandrol, which is billed as a steriod alternative that gives the benefits of a testosterone booster without the side effects of traditional steroids.
"I took an over-the-counter supplement and I did not check with the medical staff before taking it," Grier said. "I really hope that people can learn from this, learn from my mistake. I'm really, really sorry to everyone. Just really sorry."
