I don't think too many people get Time Magazine - Asia in the States. I think we're slightly outside the standard delivery area.
I'm sure I would have heard of him even if I wasn't married to a Filipina, but I wouldn't hear near as much about him.
If it wasn't for him and Apple de Ap, most of the world wouldn't know about the Phillipines.

lol...someone has to side with PBF. As for me, a fight with PBF is only good for a big payday...Manny Pacquiao has nothing else to prove. I say go for the 8th weight class against Yuri Foreman and make another history, but......the boxing public wouldn't like that. I guess its Floyd that will be icing on the cake. Oh yeah, rounds 8-11 of the PAC vs Cotto fight was just a preview of what PBF will do...
I wonder what Shane Mosley is thinking right now tho...I mean before the PAC vs Cotto fight he was saying that Cotto hits harder than Margarito and PAC doesn't have a chance. It could've been him in the ring with Pacquiao last saturday and it could've been him getting beat up and another legend sent to retirement.

I think Pac will have a very hard time with Mayweather though. Mayweather is a very defensive fighter while Pac is a very offensive fighter. Pac might get frustrated and make mistakes. Just like the Cotto fight where Cotto circles around Pac and you can see Pac getting frustrated and getting hit by Cotto when Cotto saw an opening, which is the reason why Pac hesitates on trying to knock out Cotto.

It really depends on his work with Freddie Roach. Its seems like they adjust better to changing conditions than any other fighter/coach I've seen. Pacquaio's changed from being a one dimensional fighter to one with very many tools.

On PTI yesterday they said that they think Pacquiao vs Mayweather is like 99% going to happen, mainly beacuse it would be the biggest paydays for both of them... I coulda sworn they said it would be $40-$50mil for each fighter ...

I knew Manny would beat the crap outta Cotto. Cotto is a guy who is there to be hit and he's not a smart fighter. Not only that he's taken a lot of punishment in his career Margarito gave him a beating.
Floyd-Manny is a win for Floyd who holds the stylistic advantages in this fight. He won't go to war with Manny but rather he will use his superior jab and reach to box Manny make him come in and counter him all night long. Marquez gave Manny hell countering him and outboxed him for two fights with the knock downs being the difference. Marquez got into trouble when he decided to brawl with Manny. Floyd will stick to his gameplan he's much better defensively than Marquez and he's bigger and a better athlete as well. Manny has never faced an athlete that is as good as him and never faced a fighter with as fast hands as him. Manny will be thoroughly outboxed and Manny's fans will be wondering why he isn't hitting Floyd and why is he getting hit. Offense sells tickets but defense wins championships and this will be the order of the day when these two meet.

I wonder after this fight, who else can be worthy of a blockbuster fight? Mayweather and Manny is basically boxing's best and pitting the two best together makes it looks like Boxing is laying down all its cards.
And give us the source on the official announcement PLEASE!!!!

ADVANCE.
Well I think Manny is pretty much going to retire after this fight or the next. I think I remember him telling Larry Merchant that he will stop after a couple more fights. I think this was after the Ricky Hatton fight, I'm not too sure. He's already on top getting paid bank, stop while you are ahead right? haha. I'm excited for this fight, cuz this will go down as one of the biggest or the biggest fight ever! We will find out. Can't wait for the HBO 24/7 episodes too... hahaha...

If the Philippines are democratic, then Manny will probably win the votes by a landslide. And of course if Manny takes office, there would absolutely be no time for boxing so a retirement would be for sure.
It's very hard to predict this fight. It's even hard to predict a knock out or decision. But Mayweather is too smart to get hit multiple times so I don't predict Mayweather getting knocked out.

Looks like its done...
manny Pacquiao has signed a contract to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. in boxing's biggest fight on March 13, a source with knowledge of the meeting told ESPN.com on Friday night.
Pacquiao and promotor Bob Arum met for two hours Friday to discuss the proposed deal, according to Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz, who told The Associated Press that "Manny has some additional requirements, requests, which Arum didn't think was a problem.
"The requests of Manny were so realistic that Arum doesn't feel it's a problem and it's pretty much a done deal," Koncz said.
Later Friday it became a done deal, at least on the Pacquiao side, when he signed the paperwork, the source said.
Mayweather had previously agreed to terms with Golden Boy Promotions, his promoter for the HBO PPV fight, but it was unclear if he had signed a contract.
The source also disclosed other aspects of the fight, which will take place at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds for Pacquiao's title and match the top two fighters in the world, pound-for-pound.
The camps agreed to a 50-50 split of the money, which could be gargantuan. Many experts expect the fight to eclipse the all-time pay-per-view record for sales, which is the 2.44 million buys generated by Mayweather's 2007 victory against Oscar De La Hoya.
Both fighters will wear 8-ounce gloves but each fighter will be allowed to select the brand of gloves he will wear for the fight.
For promotional purposes, the bout will be referred to as Mayweather-Pacquiao, but Top Rank will receive first billing over Golden Boy throughout the promotion.
However, instead of a full-scale media tour, there will only be a single press conference in New York during the second week of January. With the schedule compressed because of the March 13 date for the fight, rather than May 1, which the promoters and HBO PPV preferred, it didn't leave time for a lengthy media tour.
The fight is going to take place March 13 because Pacquiao is running for a congressional seat in the Philippines and the elections are in May, which would have been a conflict between his training and the campaign.
Pacquiao will spend the first half of his training camp in Baguio in the Philippines, where he also trained for the first part of his camp in preparation for his 12th-round knockout victory against Miguel Cotto on Nov. 14. For the final few weeks of his training, Pacquiao and trainer Freddie Roach will relocate to Roach's Wild Card gym in Hollywood, Calif.
The site of the bout has not been finalized. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has expressed interest in bringing the fight to his new stadium as have representatives from the Superdome in New Orleans. Also in the mix is the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, which has hosted several Pacquiao and Mayweather bouts. Arum has also received a proposal for a 30,000-seat temporary stadium on the Las Vegas Strip across from the Wynn resort.

Fight is likley off
I knew they wouldn't be able to pull it off.
Mayweather wants Olympic style blood testing for the both of them before the fight and Manny says he won't fight unless the Mayweather camp drops this demand.

This doesn't look good for Manny. Why in the hell would you turn down a 40 million dollar payday for a simple blood test if you have nothing to hide? This makes him look like he's on something.

Well, Manny did agree to have the blood test right after the fight. Manny is afraid that blood draws would weaken him. I thought he was on to something too but he did agree to have a blood test 30 days before the fight and after the fight.
I really don't know how much blood is drawn in an Olympic-Style blood test, but we should get more answers from the promoters.
