Yea I was pissed. Possible 279 that first game and I ruined it with one bad shot.

Ah, I hate new pins. They seem to never go down as easy as the beat up ones.

Funny thing is, I decided to use my older particle ball in practice on sunday and league this week. Seems to work, haha, at least until the lanes burn up.

Last night I was actually throwing it consistently in the pocket and I was getting shitted on by those damn 10's. Part of the game I guess. I wasn't the only one who bowled like shit.

I use the same ball no matter what. Stubbornness I guess

That's actually not so fast. I probably throw on average between 13-14mph, with the slowest being between 12.5-13mph. A fast shot for me when I do throw faster is about 16-17mph. The ball i'm throwing in that video is my current ball, the Brunswick Avalanche. I want to drill my new ball already, dammit!

I usually stay around 14-15. I guess it looked really fast in that video

My girlfriend has the Avalanche Pearl and HATED that ball. When are you getting the new one drilled?

I'll try to get some better videos this week if I can.

I'm going to try to drill my ball this week...Problem is I work too late, and by the time I can go to do it, the shop is closed.

^Call the bowling alley and see if you can leave at the front desk the night before so they can grab it when they open.

Just got back from bowling two games solo. First game I used a 12 pound ball that kept curving left and only netted me something like a 94. For the second game I switched to a 14 pounder and got a 148.

Nice!

When choosing a house ball, make sure it's about 10% of your body weight. So if you weigh 150, use a 15 pound, etc etc. Of course if you are 230 pounds, you can't use a 23 pound ball but you get what I'm saying.

Also the lighter the ball, the more chance it's going to bounce off of the pins and not actually drill through them. If the ball bounces off of the pins, there is a higher chance of the ball shooting a pin where it isn't supposed to g; in example hitting the 6 pin into the wall instead of having it hit the 10 pin.

Ahh easier said than done. I may want to drill it differently this time, so I would want to be there..

Almost had it last night!!!!! Started front 8, then I threw the ball like a girl and left the 7-10 split ended with 256. then the lanes broke down, 169-206 = 631. Avg is 205, high average in the league!

Front 8 and then 7-10?!? I would have been pissed! but 256 isn't bad at all. That middle game really killed your set.

Here's part of my league sheet:

I only have high average by 2 points

And we are playing against the 1st place team tomorrow night. Great.

Finally drilled out the Hy-Road.

Definitely more reaction than my Avalanche, and far more pin action. Not a good ball to close a 9-10 or 10 pin (for the way I throw it at least), I'll keep the Avalanche for that. There were no lanes available at the alley where I drilled the ball. The Monday night league I used to bowl in was there, and 2 teams didn't show up, so there were two lanes there with no one bowling, so I played all 6 men to finish 1 game (really 6 games for me). I was practicing more than anything, but I was jumping from lane to lane with no stopping in between. Games went something like this (High to low): 198, 190, 188, 180, 174, 161.

I like the ball. Aside from the fact that I started to get tired real quick, most of my strikes were Jersey (not what I really want, but a strike is a strike, right? ). When I concentrated on my shot and what I was doing, it went where I wanted it to go for the most part. At some point I did get 6 strikes in a row. I'm happy. Now let's see how good it is when it counts!

^That's awesome man! It's going to take a while to get used to it, but once you do, you should be killing 'em in no time.

I don't really want to talk about last Thursday night, it was that bad. I shot 210 first game, second game 154, and then 216 last game. The 2nd game I had five 9-spares in a row then I fouled, then spared that, then guttered first ball, then spared that, and then left a 4-9. It was terrible.

I bowled like shit thursday. Cut my ring finger open in practice and it was bleeding most of the night. Didn't break 180, let's leave it at that.

Shoofin, or anyone else in NY, are you going to the Pro-Am at West Babylon?

http://pba.com/Tournaments/Details/1637

$90 to bowl with the pros 9-pin no tap. So worth it. If you place high enough, you can win money.

Bowled 6 games yesterday, average 173 with 198 being the highest, and 160 being the lowest.

I need to get my strikes/game to at least 5.

Yea I put a bandaid on it, but it got ripped half off on the 3rd shot, so that didn't work. Blah. And I couldn't put my finger all the way in the grips with tape or a bandaid on it.

Not bad man! 6 games nowadays would wear my ass out quick!

A bandaid never works for me. Usually I just put pressure on it until it stops bleeding and then use a rosin bag and dry it out. It burns like hell but stops the bleeding

Due to a late doctors appt 45 minutes away on this upcoming Thursday, I had to pre-bowl for league. I went 199, 193, 208 for 600 even. 45 under my average

I go one week at a time...

The next tourney is at the AMF Garden City on 2/21 at 1pm. 987 Stewart Avenue in Garden City. I'm 90% for that one right now..
$1,000 Scratch Singles
$500 Handicap Singles
Guaranteed

Also, did you hear about the night tournament at Jibs on Sunday night? If I didn't work on Monday, I would have went. Just couldn't see myself bowling from 11:30pm to 3am to make some money. They also had a similar event at Woodmere lanes, which is where a bunch of my friends ended up going. One of my buddies also placed 3rd there too... They said the crowd at Jibs was a little too "ghetto" for them, so they went to Woodmere instead. I personally don't like that lane too much though.

Jib sucks, I will never bowl there again, ever. Even though they redid the whole place.

Sunday afternoons are usually no good for me.

Shot 185-177-248 last night. So many 9 counts, and 2 splits to end the 2nd game. Meh.

If you are interested in the Pro-Am, the deadline to submit payment/form is Feb 23rd... You can meet all the pros and get autographs. I got a bowling pin full of signatures the last two years. Meet all the guys, Walter Ray, Pete Weber, Mika, Patrick Allen, Chris Barnes, Parker Bohn, Rhino Page, etc.

Bowled tonight with the new ball - when it really counts.

Played the 1st place team, and this week was a positioning week. We are currently in 3rd place. I personally can't stand this team, it's a bunch of overly cocky older men that think their shit don't stink. Always commenting or snickering under their breath... Granted they play well, but it's more their consistency that gives them their scores, not talent IMO. This is probably the 4th time we played them, just about every time we played them, we lost all or took only one game. This week we took the 1st and 3rd game along with the wood, 5 points total. We lost the 2nd game by only 12 pins. Normally when we lose to them, we lose by a significant amount. This time our wins were by 67 and 59 pins. I couldn't see where that put us because someone took the stat sheet off the counter and I couldn't look up the situation. Anywho I shot 172-176-223. At some point the idiots snickered "what happened" when I went on a strike spree (6 in a row), because they've seen me bowl many times in the past and I haven't showed them much of what I'm really capable of. The last 3-4 weeks for me were bad, barely breaking 170 (2 weeks ago my high game was 159 before the ball change ), so tonight's scores were refreshing. Hopefully i'll be more consistent and will be able to blame the ball for my improved playing

No you actually bowl with them. They give you tips and stuff. It's awesome. $90 for 3 games plus a prize package, plus it's also a tourney so if you score high enough you get some money. My friend won quite a bit last year.

If it wasn't RIGHT BEFORE Passover, I would go. The only day I would be able to go is on Sunday, and it's the eve of the holiday, much is going on at home so it wouldn't be possible for me to go..

Shoo, tourney is saturday...

Shot 236 (clean) - 203 (3 missed 10 pins) - 247 (clean). Won all my match points Should had a 700 tho. All my spares were 9s except one 8. Almost no tap 900 which would be good for that tourney, haha.

I'm 10 pins lower average on thursday than tuesday... kinda weird, but maybe the one side of the house is harder, I duno.

I noticed your bowl.com stats, you went from 198 in 2007 > 201 last year > 213 this year. What did you change to improve 10-15 pins in one year?

^I honestly don't know. I went from bowling up to 20 games a week in 2006 and 2007 to bowling only 3 a week now and my average has gone up.

I think a lot of it has to do with my attitude towards bowling. Compared to how I used to be in high school, now I try to have fun and not stress myself out so much about how I'm bowling.

Also I don't rush the ball down the lane like I used to. I used to pull the ball back and push it forward instead of just letting it fall with gravity. I don't throw it as fast too. I've overall become more relaxed about bowling. Of course I get frustrated when I don't do well, but I've come to expect that. It's just part of the game.

By the way I'm totally re-doing my room, so I took down my bowling scores and such from the wall and I started looking over them. Here are a few I found interesting:

4/30/05--164 average--9-pin No-Tap Tournament--241, 287, 265 = 793
6/13/05--197 average--League Play--227, 159, 245 = 631 (first 600 series)
8/6/05--177 average--League Play--235, 228, 222 = 685 (first 650 series)
9/11/06--195 average--League Play--245, 244, 289 = 778 (first 750 series)
10/29/08--202 average--Practice on Fresh Oil--237, 246, 256, 223, 256

My average was 177 on 8/6/05 because it was the 2nd week of league and I hadn't bowled very well the week before.

Stats for my Monday night Winter League 2008-2009
125 games-3
150 games-14
175 games-30
200 games-31
225 games-18
250 games-3
500 series-5
550 series-11
600 series-14
650 series-4
700 series-1
High game-258
Low game-138
High series-704
Low series-502
Low average-167.33
High average-205.28
Average of First Game-195.70
Average of Second Game-202.36
Average of Third Game-204.88

Most leagues at my bowling alley get a sheet with stats like I posted above. It shows every week that was bowled and includes average, handicap, individual games, total scores, high game, high series, high handicap game, etc etc. Includes a bar graph at the bottom as well. I thought it was pretty cool.

Here is my progression: Multiple averages in the same year are different leagues, same house.

Career: Hi game 289 non sanctioned. Hi game 279 sanctioned. Hi series 762.

I got lessons over one summer and I went to a pro clinic last year with Mike Fagan and Bill O'Neill. They changed my pushaway/setup and armswing, and I seem to be doing better.

oh and what you said here:
I used to pull the ball back and push it forward instead of just letting it fall with gravity.
That's exactly what they had me change. They said just let it drop don't muscle it.

Unspectacular night. 211-203-227 = 640.

Threw a few splits, missed a few spares. Felt like I bowled better than it showed on the score sheet. Felt like I had to work hard and no big games to show for it.

Team took 8/11, so we are still in first. I am tied for high average.

^Solid set man! Especially for missing a few spares. Hopefully I actually bowl my average tomorrow night
