Lanes always seem to be easier sunday morning.

Nice, you got a sick lead in the average. I'm 2nd in tuesday, 201 to 207, but I'm only ~ 250 pins back. I really need to shoot a 700 soon.

^Do it. It just sounds like you have one game that really holds back your potential set.

Well, didn't have a great series, but I was clutch and we took 8 of 11 points. Sometimes I'd rather shoot 170 and win than 220 and lose.

3 weeks left in the half. "easy 11" next week (weak team) but we'll see. Then double position weeks.

Shot a clean 208 (dutch thru 6, couldn't double, ugh), 161 (3 splits YAY), 190 (double and count in 10th to WIN IT BY 6 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO). I'm the anchor.

Average dipped to 200, but I'm solid 2nd...that and $1 will get me a cheeseburger at Mc D.

Slightly frustrating year so far. I haven't really improved, even with the synthetic lanes they put in, and it's past the adjustment period IMO.

It seems to be either 100% mental or 100% mechanical. I get lazy on some shots and miss easy spares (4 pins). Or I just feel like my head is in the game, but I'm not throwing it the way I want. Kinda frustrating.

I think it's just matching my ball selection to the condition. I kept switching balls last night. I think I will leave the early rolling one at home, it either hooks too much or I can't get a great read from it. I'll go back to my medium strength benchmark ball, and the two skid flip balls, so I can get a better controlling reaction. It's funny, the ball I thought went the longest, doesn't. It's the newest one I bought that goes the longest. The other one reads a little earlier, which is helpful sometimes. I feel I can pick up my ball speed a little with it.

I was throwing from 15 to the 2 board with the early rolling ball for half a game. Not my shot at all. Haven't had luck with it on the synthetics, back in the bag it goes.

I bring three balls to league... I would bring 4 but I don't have a 4 ball bag and that's too damn heavy. I got rid of my 3 ball bag, and am using a 2 ball bag and a 1 ball pouch. I do have a 2 ball tote, but that's a pain in the ass to carry 4 at once.

^Not a good night, but not terrible. I miss the 4 pin more than any other pin. I easily give up 50 points a night missing that pin alone. That middle game really killed you. I usually get 2 or 3 strikes in a row and then split and have that happen back to back giving me no room for a comeback.

And wait you only get $1 for having 2nd highest average? I get $50 for first place

Unlike you, I use one ball all of the time no matter the lane conditions or for shooting spares. I'll get out my sanded ball for bowling on Sport or PBA patterns, but that's about it. I have one 3-ball bag that's an upright standing one and that's it!

LOL I was being facetious with the $1 because 2nd place average doesn't get jack in my league. Not sure on the first place prize its anywhere from $25-$50.

Sorry for the late update.

Thursday night I shot 644 (237, 193, 214). I was throwing the ball wonderfully but I wasn't carrying for shit. The second game I went turkey, pocket 8-10, strike, pocket 7-10, and then punched out

Now I have a 2 week break until the next league night. I really need to practice.

Ditto...Been a crazy week..

Took 5 points this week. Bowled 181-181-174 (average is 171). Took the first game by over 100 pins (we were all on our game), second game by about 70 pins (still on our game), and lost the last game by 5 pins (My A Bowler with a 201 avg bowled 156 - Must have been the chick in the other lane bowling with her b/f with the petite body and large breasts distracting him, because I definitely noticed it but wasn't as distracted by it ) - I am a bit shocked that I bowled as well as I did on G2 and G3, as I started the games with the first 4 frames opened and finishing with either 8 or 9, with most of the open frames either being my stupidity or a split

Hope I'm out of the slump. Shot 680 sunday in practice.

Shot 204-247-202 yesterday.

Apparently watching slo-mo videos of Wes Malott helped.

Shoofin-not a bad set man! Over your average is always a good thing. Every week I just want to average 220 for 3 games. If I do that, I'm happy

Rounder-Nice bowling man! The thing about practice is that the lanes are usually beat down oil therefore the shot is easier than fresh oil like in league.

I bowl 2nd shift, so sunday mornings is usually a fresh shot...

Lanes were pretty dry yesterday, I felt like I had a really good look and every shot could have carried. If I didn't strike, I left a 10 pin or a 4 pin generally. Too many 9 - tho Coulda had 30-40 more pins if I didn't miss my spares.

One teammate shot her high game, 259, and the other teammate left FIVE pocket 7-10s. (got lucky and kicked out a pin on three of those, so technically it was only twice, but it was gross). He was swinging the whole lane, and the ball was running out of energy. I was playing up like 12 out to 5 and it was working way better.

Guy on the other lane was like "oh that was a bad shot" when I got a "lucky" strike, so I told him "talk to me when you average 200".

^

What an asshole to tell you you had a "bad shot". If all of the pins fell down, apparently it wasn't that bad of a shot.

And not picking up single pin spares drives me up a wall. Honestly if I 100% on my spares, I would probably shoot 700 each night

"If it wasn't for the 10 pin, I'd be a pro"

Yea he was joking around, but all my strikes are in the pocket, except the ones that go brooklyn But I decided to talk a little trash back. It's a fun league.

I had a "no tap 300" the 2nd game. Frustrating, I want that 300 this season!

I leave more 4-pins than 10-pins unfortunantly

I've had a few no-tap 300's before. Pretty fun but frustrating at the same time.

Just wait until you have 18 strikes in a row and don't shoot 300. That will piss you off. Trust me, I know from experience

Disclaimer- Do not bowl regularly. Perhaps 4X a year?
Went bowling with my GF and kids two weekends ago.
156! and she broke 100.

Soooo close to an 8.

800 is much more difficult than a 300. This fall season there are 7 300s on the board and 0 800s.

After I made my 7-10 split, people told me that it is harder to do that, than get a 300, and a guy said he would trade his 300 for the 7-10, lol...

I've seen people shoot a 300 first game and then not shoot 600 for the series. 800 is way harder.

I've picked up the Big Four and the 4-6 a few times, but never a 7-10. Sometimes when I spare the 10 pin, it'll bounce off of the curtain, pop back on the deck, and roll across to where the 7 would be standing. Of course it isn't there.

"4-6 a few times"

wow, that is nuts. I think its harder than the 7-10. Did you slide it over or bounce it out of the corner?

I slid it over. I barely nudged the 6 pin and it slid head first into the 4. Pure luck.

Guy shot a 290 on my pair on sunday! his high game.

I was thinking of some more trash talk today...what do you think of this:

"The last time you had 3 strikes in a row was little league."

Wow I actually bowled good (I know it's "well" but sports people say good) last night.

194-255-259 = 708.

Got the back 9 the 2nd game, started X / (7 pin didn't fall) X X X X then the stupid 4 pin, spare, then out. Shoulda had a 280... and I missed the series sheet, and didn't win any pots, either. Someone on another lane shot 279 the last game. 3rd series was 713 UGH. Avg is a 203 now. Creeping up, but I'm like ~ 270 pins behind the first place guy. (I want high average so bad).

Next week is the last week of the half (18 week halves). We are in 5th, but 2-5 is so close. First clinched last night (very exciting to watch and there are some sore losers in the league *cough hi average guy*), and if we sweep next week and get some help, we can move up to 2nd! If we sweep and the 2nd or 3rd place team takes 2 or 3 games we can move up to 3rd. But we have to sweep!!!

What's up guys! Daaang... This thread is still going strong! hahaha... My bowling nights are on Fridays so last week and tomorrow night are off! Sux cuz I don't practice during the weekdays making my next week's game the getting my rhythm back game. I hate that. Hey CLtotheTL32, I'm like you, I just use one ball and that's it.

The beginning of this season my average started at 177 and now has dropped to 166. I've been in a slump for a while but earlier this month before our stupid break I've been improving. Do you guys ever get into a slump? My grip was the problem so I adjusted that but hopefully I can break 200 soon. It's been awhile. Last series I bowled I got a 160,182,190, SO CLOOOSEEE! haha. Last several series were terrible.

Quick question guys... How often do you clean and polish your balls? My ball is pretty smooth still but never been cleaned. I've polished it once, but it's been awhile and my ball doesn't have the glow anymore. Just wondering what you guys do? =)

Damn nice set! Is that your first 700 of the season? And I'm glad to see you've gotten you 200 average back.

I believe my team came in 3rd place overall. I should be getting my cash money this Thursday

I'm surprised there are so many bowlers on Acurazine. People ask me what sport I enjoy the most and when I say bowling, they usually give me a weird look

Ouch I hate when my average slips that much. I was close to 230 for most of the season until the last 3 or 4 weeks when I've dropped to under 220. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with that average, but I like to be consistent as possible.

My girlfriend polishes my balls for me

Hahaha sorry I had to. Honestly I haven't gotten my bowling ball cleaned in a while. I just use the rag thing and wipe it off before I start the set. I don't wipe off the oil between frames either; I just bowl. If there is a pro shop in your bowling alley tell them you just want it sanded and cleaned the way it was when it was brand new

You can pick up ball cleaner. You should use it like every few weeks or so. I really should clean my balls. The ball cleaner pulls the oil out of the ball and refreshes the surface so it's like out of the box condition. http://www.bowlersparadise.com/shop/cp/ ebonite power wash or something similar.

Basically if you feel like the reaction is dying, clean your ball.

And everyone goes through slumps. bowlers, golfers, baseball players... I say just bowl through it.

I wipe my ball after every shot. I need to launder my towel, it's grey

CL - 2nd 700 this year. Shot a 705 in my other league.

If you want a ghetto ball cleaner use dish soap and water, it will remove most all grime and oil.

I've been rolling well, for me, for the last few weeks, average is just shy of 200 - what I'm most proud of is I have not missed a single 10 pin in 2 weeks. I've altered my spare game slightly and while I don't like the concept behind it, the results seem to speak for themselves. My high for the last two weeks is 233 my low is 178 and that is over probably 20-25 games in two weeks - while not biblical scores, I'm happy with the consistency. Additionally, when I bowl 10+ games on a Monday I am not myself for Tuesday's bowling - those who laugh at bowling as a sport should bowl 10 good games in a single night.

^Damn that's awesome consistency! I wish my high/low difference was only 50 or so pins. I always shoot a 170 and then pull a 260 out of my ass somehow.

And usually I'll only miss a 10 pin once a week or so, but it's just those damn 4 and 7 pins that I struggle at

Right on guys for the advices.

Damn, 10 games in one night? Then bowl again the following night? Seriously my arm would be jello after 10 games let alone my 3 games that I bowl a week. hahaha.

Yeah, this Friday is back to bowling night. Since all the holidays are over, I can get back to the norm. I just gotta remember my damn grip then I should be fine. I mean I'm not anywhere near you guys with the over 200 averages but hopefully one day I'll get up there. I know it's not about others scores but your own, right? Man, I wanna go bowling now! hahaha...

I haven't bowled in 2 weeks because of the holidays and such so I'm about to suck ass

And with 5 man teams bowling 3 games, my arm is shot by the end of the set. When I was younger I would bowl in tournaments that could be up to 12 games in one day

I just rolled 11 games and my 10 pin streak has come to an end low was a 185 high was a 220, I'm consistent and I think my scores are climbing a hair, but I just wish it were consistent just a hair higher

Damn 11 games? I bet you are pooped.

But still +/- 35 pins between 11 games is just short of amazing. Props to you sir

It's not the arm that hurts for me after a lot of bowling, it's my fingers and my knees. Also it doesn't help in this cold weather that my skin is cracking.

My arm/hand is now used to it, I get it in my hips/ass I'm a smidge over 6' and to get a nice release I squat quite a bit on one leg. I've filmed my throw several times and it doesn't look bad at all, in fact I think it looks pretty good. That said I tend to lean a bit and then do an off balanced left legged squat with my right foot tracking left and balancing me. I work hard to limit arm movement(when the ball is in my hand) to * < 180º this seems to reduce the strain on my spine and leg(s). I think if I had a higher body mass it would help, but I've been so busy with work and the weather is miserable out I do very minimal physical training these days. I'm about 175lbs(maybe closer to 180 after the holidays) and throw a 15lbs ball 15-21MPH with medium rotation, short of bulking up a bit I think I'll have to reduce how much I bowl or start swinging some kettle bells.

My shoulder and back hurt after 9 games or so. All of my muscles tense up and usually go into my neck as well.

I rear ended a guy when I was 16 in my dads truck. The seatbelt didn't hold me back and my air bag didn't go off, so I went right into the steering wheel. I never went to the doctor so my neck is always fucking up somehow

Call me Mr. Clutch, if only for today.

We swept, clinched 3rd Swept the last two weeks to go from 6th to 3rd, woot!

The first game we won by 7 pins. I had a X in the 9th and so did their anchor. He was up first, throws a X. I come back and strike as well. 2nd shot he leaves a 10 pin and I left a 10 pin too, haha. But it was over by then

224-211-198, missed two spares all night (stupid 4 pin, and the bucket). Couldn't strike the last game, but it didn't matter.

We play two weak teams the first two weeks of the 2nd half, so maybe we can have a better start. The first half we won ONE game in the first 9 games.

Yeah, my arms still get kinda sore at times. Its usually my left knee and my arm that gets tired. I don't throw the ball too fast either. I guess just after a long week of work then go bowling takes a toll on everybody. Over here in California, weather has been pretty good. I finally got back on the eliptical just to give my body some kind of work out. haha, hopefully I'll be good for Friday night's bowling.

Hey when people say they bowl scratch games, what does that mean? Sorry, I might as well ask you guys. I've just been bowling the regular 4 man team stuff.
