ROTORA Big Brake Kits: CL, TL, TSX

This is an Acurazine Special Pricing Event for the ROTORA Big Brake Kit only. The pricing event will consist of the ROTORA Big Brake Kit (BBK) for the Acura CL, TL, and the Acura TSX.

Here is some important information on ROTORA’s BBK’s:

ROTORA’s calipers are made of billet aluminum alloy and CNC machined to ensure the highest quality. Rotora's high performance brake system enables superior brake modulation while improving overall pedal feel to ensure equal distribution of weight transfer when braking. To achieve this proportional front-to-rear brake bias, Rotora’s opposing piston calipers are fine tuned by increasing the clamp load to the optimal level while utilizing the stock master cylinder to retain overall front-to-rear brake bias. Rotora’s full big brake system design delivers excellent initial bite, exceptional modulation, and consistent pedal feel for street and track use applications. All systems are ABS compatible and direct bolt on replacement with minimal modifications required.

COMPONENTS/FEATURES:

-Rotora billet aluminum alloy 2, 4, 6, 8, or 12-piston racing calipers with sequentially sized piston bore sizes engineered to each specific vehicle. (4 piston calipers for Acura (F), 2 or 4 piston for Acura (R) )
-Rotora billet aluminum hat with “floating” disc assembly to reduce heat related stress and unsprung weight.
-Rotora one piece vented, or two piece heat treated directional vane disc system to improve airflow/cooling under severe braking. Slotted or drilled & slotted oversize discs up to 16” (330mm (13”) and 355mm (14”) for Acura’s) to ensure equal heat dissipation and increase thermal capacity while relieving the disc and brake pad surface free of excess debris.
-Rotora ceramic formulated pads designed for extreme street and track application with high co-efficient of friction and high temperature fade resistance.
-Rotora DOT compliant stainless steel braided brake lines to improve stiffer pedal feel and prevent brake hose expansion.
-Rotora carbon steel (SC45) mounting brackets (depending on application) and hardware.

OPTIONAL:

Standard Caliper Color: red or metallic blue.

Custom Caliper Color: dark blue, chrome, gunmetal, gold, silver, black, or yellow (lead time of 60 days depending on application).

will the front and rear kit fit TL-S oem wheels without spacers?

The front you need a 5MM spacer. The rears I don't know yet. If you do buy them you might want to get a universal 5MM spacer when doing the install just to be safe.

DUECE_DXJ 03-17-2006 10:43 PM

can you still use your parking brake with the rear kit?

With the stock 17" wheels you need a 5MM spacer. H&R is a good brand to use. I can direct you to a supplier who keeps them in stock usually. It includes everything you will need, including directions on whether you need to use longer studs or not. The 2-piece rotor does have its advantages:

- Aluminum hat w/ iron disc
- Cool more effectively due to less restrictive air flow
- Less prone to distortion/warping due to hat being separate from disc
- Hat can be reused so less cost on replacing rotors

Yes, PM me with your year, make, and model, what kit you have, what you need, and your zip code.

againstallodds1 06-21-2006 10:08 PM

Excellerate, I sent you a message about the BBK I ordered. Is it in stock, out in the mail?

Well the kit I have here is for the 99-03 TL, but the only difference for the 04+ is the brake lines. I had ordered a set but I was sent the wrong set so ROTORA is overnighting me the lines. They told me Friday I should see them and therefore you should have your BBK by early next week. Thanks.

They have not released the rear BBK yet. I believe ROTORA said they would do so in the fall.

aznxtallxboy 06-26-2006 02:10 PM

is there an end date for this GB?

ROTORA emailed me back about the status of the SS lines. They had a delay in some of the components that make up the SS lines and therefore they said I will see the lines on Wed. They will still overnight but the lines won't be ready until tomorrow. If I get them WEd you should still have the BBK before the weekend.

Hey excelerate....

Do the BBKs fit a 3G TL (2004) with stock 17's, or will I have to use a spacer? I ask because I run RonJons in warm weather (which are shaped to allow for a BBK), but plan to use my stockers during the winter.

Thanks!

againstallodds1 07-02-2006 11:14 AM

Hey excellerate, my girl put my BBK on yesterday, and I love it. Thanx man, nice mod, the only thing I just want to let everyone know, to avoid wasted time and phone calls is that my left rotor was in the right box and the right rotor was in the left box. Thats it. Everything was smooth, except the screws that hold the rotor in place. They are a bitch to get out. Be careful they can strip really easy.
Thanks Josh.

You're welcome. Glad to see you got it installed and now can stop with all that power you have. I don't know if they got switched or not but just to make sure: the slots face the front of the car not the back.

CCColtsicehockey 07-07-2006 11:29 PM

can you get two piece rotors at all for the front.

Excelerate 07-08-2006 12:04 PM

PM me for prices with year and model and zip code. I have some coming in stock in about 2 weeks.

$2000 is for the front BBK only but that is the 14" 2-piece rotor BBK. The 13" 1 piece rotor BBK is only $1250 shipped.

Check out post #12 on this link:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143249

It is on a 04+ TL but you can see the caliper color.

special-ed 08-28-2006 07:18 PM

are red and blue the only options? Is there zinc plating on these also? Thanks!

Excelerate 08-28-2006 08:21 PM

Well there are more options but you have to wait 60-90 days and there is a $300 additional charge for different colors. You can get black, gold, dark blue, silver, etc The discs are e-coated so the rotors do not rust.

pits200 09-06-2006 08:32 AM

Any chances these have come down in price to lets say,, ummmmm $1,100.

Excelerate 09-06-2006 11:00 AM

No, $1250 shipped is the lowest it will ever go. In fact I may raise the price b/c it is too low.

pits200 09-06-2006 11:30 AM

Ha, I wish our car had some competition in the market. My buddy and I just put upgraded his car to 14 inch slotted rotors and 4 piston calipers on his 99GT mustang.

Total cost = $520 for the whole front setup.

I will toss another grand into the money I want to spend on brakes and go buy myself a Sony SXRD for the football season.
