All of you damn Yankees need to stop moving down here. Your crazy driving habits are pissing me off. Bumper to bumper traffic doesn't mean you have to be ON my bumper the whole time.

/rant

Anyways, Goosed. What brought you down south? Fried food? Warm weather? Job? Also, it sounds like you like the nickname "Goosed". Care to explain?

When I drive from NC to NJ I try to keep my distance from the car in front. Only trouble with that is, a driver next to me pulls in front. Hate that in traffic.
It was the warm weather but this past winter-what happened to the warm south. I hope to move back to Jersey in the near future.

Yeah I know exactly what you're talking about. I try to keep my distance until some asshat gets right between us.

It was freakin cold this past winter!

That's the problem with maintaining more than the prescribed 3 second (for me 4-6 second) following distance. Others think it's a gap -- well, it is -- and that my lane is moving faster. Wrong.

People behind me sometimes get their panties in a bunch, too, thinking that long gap in from me me = me going slow, when in fact I'm pretty much maintaining equidistance. Now THAT torques me a little bit.

But ... despite having better than OEM brakes ... I like having lots o' room in front. What realllllly gets me is all the clowns talking on cell phones while driving, quite a few of them clearly not paying attention to their driving (drifting, unsignaled lane changes, changes in speed, not giving right of way or letting others merge). There orta be a lawr.

I moved down because of a job, I am in the military and i am stationed at bragg.

"Goose" came from my name. my last name is degugas and this redneck friend of mine some how found a goose in there and it stuck. Now everyone just calls me goose and i put goosed on my tl because no one likes being goosed but I figure if I pass someone i should let them know they just were! jk I just put goosed on my tl.
I dont like being passed!!

Shut it Tyler. I have been in the car with you, you're worse than us. At least we are aggressive for a purpose. You're just nuts, honking at old ladies and riding people's asses haha. Come drive on the GSP (garden state parkway). There is 20 times the amount of traffic than there is on 540, 85, 40, 440, etc, yet everybody gets where they have to go in half of the amount of time

Me worse than Yankees?! HAAAAAAAAAA.

I'll end my rant there

But anyways, I've totally forgotten about setting up a Raleigh meet. I'm more focused on attending the National Meet next month. Once I get back safe and sound from that, I'll work on setting something up.

I've got a theory on that.

When we moved here, we were in an apt for 6 months while we found a house. The parking lot had plates from all over the place, IL, OH, MA, NY, TX, etc. Tons of 'em.

What I think is that mish-mash of driving styles is what causes problems.

I have no problems with New Yorkers when I'm in NY, because everybody drives "that NY way"; same in Boston, they ALL drive like Massholes; Chicago, same thing, etc.

But here, they're all jumbled together and it's mass confusion.

Oh lord, don't get me started on Garner. I swear I'm the only car in the Wake Tech parking lot, I'm surrounded by huge 4x4 trucks with antennas tall enough to walkie-talkie the moon and huge chrome balls hanging from the rear bumper.

Bearcat I agree 100%. NC, especially the Raleigh area, is growing like crazy. New developments and businesses are opening all of the time. People move here from north and south for a change of pace.

Sup everybody.. relatively new tl owner here. Raleigh representin(Ruff Raleigh!!) Anyway, Tyler I'm the guy that bothered you to go on a ride to hear your atlp exhaust. I'm down for a meet as well.

and also, you guys just pointed out what I've been wondering for a while. Why the hell are there so many people from nj down here? I'm originally from ny(queens to be exact) and every other day I meet someone here from nj but hardly ever anyone from ny. What's the deal?

Henry. I got your e-mail a few days ago and I honestly totally forgot to send a picture of the gas door. My fault man! Do you still need it?

You can't go wrong with the ATLP. Just make sure you get the NON-resonated version. Don't pay $1000+ for exhaust you can barely hear. Sometimes I wish mine was louder

Nah man I'm good on the gas door. I posted a pic request on the main forum and got it there. No worries though. Unfortunately the atlp is on backorder over at heeltoe so I'm gonna have to wait.

Good, safe driving techniques are the same all over the nation. It's the bad habits, aggressive behavior, uncivil attitudes that seem to vary from state to state. I wish people could get a mini-driving-lobotomy or retraining when they change states -- reset to newly licensed again. Well, I can dream.....

Yesterday a lady in a black Solara got all huffy because I merged in front of her (with signal, so she was warned) and she was accelerating to prevent me ... but failed. I kept up with the car in front , but I spoiled her 1.5 second following distance, egads.

Some people, I wonder if they're like that when not behind the wheel, they'd have no friends. I don't know ANYWHERE in which the #1 lane is the "speed up and not let anyone else in, and harass the car in front of me" lane.

One of my tricks is, if I'm doing something on the road that might aggravate another driver, would I do it if I knew I'd be getting out of my car and talking with the driver right afterwards? If I'd be embarrassed, I think twice about doing it. Wish everyone would.

Absolutely agree. While driving in Long Island (Suffolk County) a couple of months ago I realized why NY has much stricter firearm laws than the rest of the nation.

My biggest pet peeve, however, is what Spalding explained above, the "I'm going to speed up so you can't overtake me" manuever. This is only slightly worse than the person who decides to tailgate you at 80mph when you've just passed them doing 65.

Could be worst. I Could still live in Phoenix. Glad to be back home here in Raleigh.

Welcome back Jackie!

Yeah I can't stand when people speed up when you go to pass them. It's usually someone on a cellphone.

I can't stand people driving on the phone...if someone calls me when I'm driving I put the bluetooth in, or call them back when I'm not driving. I also can't stand people who listen to headphones while driving...um hello retards its called a car stereo and an ipod adapter. Its incredibly dangerous, not to mention stupid, and people who do it should have their licenses revoked.

Just moved into my apt in Winston yesterday. Lost my wallet at the food lion on university pkwy, but fortunately someone returned it (after taking all my cash, a whopping $8). Start work at the ballpark next week, so for now I'm finding my way around the city and stuff. Pretty cool town, imo.

Yeah driving on the phone is a huge pet peeve for me. I'll do my handsfree bluetooth but even then I don't talk for too long. I only answer it when it's someone important though

Driving with headphones is illegal. How the hell are you supposed to hear sirens with them in your ears?
