Raleigh NC 105K (Timing Belt) Service
Hello All-
It's time for my 105K service on my 2001 CL-S. I Actually have an appointment at Leith Acura, Cary, for tomorrow, 11/19, but they quoted me $1,700, so I decided to do some research here for other options.
Does anyone in the Raleigh area know a good shop that can do this for less? How about TAO Honda in Cary?
What about buying the parts myself and having Leith do the work? I have an excellent 19 year relationship with them, but $1,700 is just too much. (FWIW, tranny was replaced under warranty about 4 years ago.)
Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions!
Rob

Here are the labor costs quoted by Leith Acura:
540 Timing belt
110 Spark plugs
350 Valve Adjustment
990 Total
Minor service is about $130 (parts & labor)
So even if I buy the parts myself, the whole thing will still cost about $1,500.

Here's an update:
A big chuck of that $1,700 was the $350 valve adjustment (which another shop told me was not necessary) and the $130 minor service (oil change, etc.), bringing the total for the Timing Belt service to about $1,220.
I called an independant Honda shop that quoted me $1,250.
But here's the kicker: Leith Acura's service rep, much to his credit, saw that they replaced the timing belt in 2008, and said that given the low mileage I put on the car, I don't need replacement 'till 2015. Lots of shops would have taken my money and never said a word.

$540 is for the timing part only? $110 for spark plug that's over price though, the timing belt can hold until 110k mile,,so yours getting close so don't wait b4 u ruin the engine.

I took my 2004 TL to Cary Car Care for my 105k service and paid around $800 IIRC. They are right down the road from Tao Auto. Just something for you to remember in a few years when it's time for the belt
