Are you reusing stock top hats? $175-$200 probably the going rate. Since the coilovers don't come w/ top hats it takes a little longer. I am sure you already know.. you'll definitely need to align the car after. where ya located? damn, I wish I had a type-S

so the new coilovers dont come with new top hats huh.... is it easier to assemble the new coilovers with new top hats as a one piece install or something??
i heard you have to take your rear seat out to access the top mount of the rear shocks is this correct?
$200 isnt bad to pay someone i dont think its worth my hassel if its only $200 anyone know or have experience with a shop?
Thanks guys!

tein basics/super streets doesn't come with top hats so you have to take apart your stock ones and use the stock top hats onto your tein basics/super streets unless its a full coilover setup (Megan, Function&Form, Zeal, Tein Flex, BC Racing, Fortune Auto and more)
assemble that together then install.
Rear seats must come out for you to access the 2 rear nuts up top.

I'm taking my car to Qing's Rims and Tires in Rosemead to get Tein H Tech's installed for $120. If you buy the springs from them, they install it for $80. Not sure how much coilovers cost.

BTW, I got mine H Tech's installed this past Sat by these guys. Nice guys, but I would NOT recommend you go there if you have a TL. If you want more details, PM me and I'll tell you why.

yeah..he started banging away on the springs with hammer when he couldn't get it to fit into the top mount. He did have a towel in between, but I saw he chipped some paint off the springs. Luckily he only did this with one of the springs and not all 4. Like I said..never again. Next time I'm going to a place that's been vouched for on the forums like Evasive Motorsports or Impex.

He started to work on my car and I realized the guy had never worked on a TL before when he started taking my brake pads out after he took the wheel off. I asked him do you really need to do that do install the springs and he was like yes. But he was totally wrong because the brake pads have nothing to do with the springs. Chalk this up to one bad learning experience. Like I said before.. NEVER AGAIN!

Me neither..they were selling Tein springs so I figured they must have had experience with TL's. I even asked the guy if he's done TL's before I went there and he's like oh yeah no problem.

Here is the best part...after he was done with the front springs, he started to work on the back ones. 2 really scary things happened.
1. He initially put the rear springs in upside down. I told him it was upside down but he didn't believe me. Then the other guy in the shop came over and said it was upside down. Can you imagine if I wasn't paying attention and he would have installed the springs upside down? The thought makes me cringe.
2. After he put everything back after the install (back seat, rear deck lid), he realized he didn't tighten the bolts all the way. So he had to take everything apart again and tighten the screws. Can you imagine if he didn't realize that? I would be driving around with a loose suspension in the back.
So in total, I was at the shop from 9am until about 3pm (6 hrs). Needless to say, I had a sick feeling in my stomach after I left.

wow..............Qing's rims.... I would run away!!!!!! I 99.99% of the time never trust chinese people working on my car.... unless I actually know them personally.
Jeez, glad you stayed around and watched though... things could have gone very bad.

yea 6 hours for springs seems crazy long! did he try asking you for more money after he finished cuz it took him so long?
how long should it take some1 to install coilovers... i think sk8ter4life is guna help still so im hoping it goes smoother with some1 who has done it before and we dont have to break out the hammer!

haha yea i know i have installed many things myself over the years i just figured if someone was there that has done it before it would go faster... kinda like when you install rotors and pads the first time it sucks and takes you like 2 hours to do one side then the other side takes like 20 minutes thought havin some1 around would kick it down in times but your right i most deff will be taking part in this if not just doing it myself
