Exclamation LA Area Honda-Acura Trans Swap.

Hey So I have a 2003 Acura TL Type-S. And surprise, surprise the transmission is failing. It's gonna cost me $2600.00 to get it rebuilt through a shop!

I love the car, it's a great car but I need to get this fixed and cheaply. A rebuild on my own is NOT an option. I'm pretty automotively handy but wouldn't attempt a trans rebuild on my own.

Is there anyone out there in the LA/SD area that has rebuilt one or would be willing to do an 06-07 Honda Accord trans swap for me. I've heard roomers that a swap works just fine and is a cheaper route to go. Is this true???

PLEASE HELP!

I heard you could take a Honday Odyssey transmission and that would work better because the Odyssey is heavier and then your tranny problems are solved permanetly.

Great price for a rebuild.

Please tell me more details. Was your CL drivable? Did they rebuild it with "stronger" parts? Better torque converter?

Sorry about the late response. I've been a bit too busy lately. But yeah the tranny is still holding up well have 140k right now. No problems after but I changed the tranny fluid to dw-1 recently. Every 15k miles. Problems I had were: didn't want to get in to 2nd gear sometimes and would redline sometimes. 1st gear mostly slipped. Was a hassle to drive there but made it manually changing gears and also live about 15 miles away. They just rebuilt it I didn't ask much details on it. My name is Steven btw and yeah you can use me as reference. Don't think he would remember me and it was for a 99 tl-p any other info? Just message me and also I could not pm you since your inbox is full

California Transmissions, they dropped a rebuilt transmission for only $1250 for me with a 2 year warranty. The car runs better than new. I used there Chula Vista location.

For anyone having the same problem here are their contact information and location as well as Yelp reviews.
