'06 Accord swap 3G TL

Alright guys so my Transmission on my 05 TL went out (I know Tragic ) but after countless hours of study i found out the accords 06 07 Non Hybrid tranny MIGHT work but after seeing a close comparison i decided to pull the plug and begin my hunt for a Good Low mileage accord tranny. i searched for two weeks an everyone seemed to have a 900 $$ with 30 day warranty roughly 100-140 miles and that seemed very unconvincing since 06 Acura tranny was 950$$ 135 miles and i really hated not driving my baby (TL) So before pulling the plug on 06 Acura tranny i checked my handy dandy 5miles app and shure enough the golden ticket was found. I had found a 105 mile 06 accord tranny i ended up getting tranny for 300$$$ bucks ( god bless america) The car suffered frame damage to car by being slammed into the rear by a drunk driver so the guy practically gave it away. Removing OLD TRanny was such a B***h had to remove lower frame but after a week and hella extra screws Accord tranny fit perfectly only thing changed was range sensor everything else fits perfectly on i was gonna do a DIY but i was more worried of my car getttin back on road. tomorrow i will post pics i have wich are not many But ive had the tranny on for a week and its working perfectly not one slip. Will keep posting on this ask any questions Cause i know original tranny sucks ass and its 2016 so im pretty sure tranny problems are starting to happen to some unlucky fellow out there Also i used 2 Jacks two remove tranny Side note lol

The run on sentences is real... .

I was interested in it until you took that factor away with your horrible typing.

Summary:

My '05 TL transmission died. I heard the Accord has a compatible transmission. I had a hard time finding one for a decent price with low miles. I checked some fancy handy dandy app on my phone and found one cheap nearby with low miles. I swapped it in, changed out the range switch, and all is good.

makes it so much more interesting knowing the back story...

on the flip side what is this handy dandy fancy pantsy app? I need a trans! 05AT quoted $2300 to fix. I may play the mad scientist and swap one myself since im basically gonna part the car out if anything.

I'm in the same boat as you OP. My transmission blew out while I was making my way down to College Station for my first semester at Texas A&M. So now I'm stuck here without a car and have to rely on my bike for transportation The problem is, I don't want another cursed Acura transmission and lack the skills necessary to do the Honda tyranny swap myself. I called a few junkyards and they said the 06-07 accord transmissions aren't compatible. So I'm guessing no professional mechanic will do the swap? This is a DIY only job?

@ mr. garrison Yep same here i did not want an acura tranny that was gonna keep failing. Honestly i would go with an 07 honda accord tranny because they are exactly alike but i got a 06 one which im fine with, also exactly alike. But id say get accord tranny and eventually someone will put it on, you could tell them its an acura tranny and swap the range sensor yourself, its a simple clip

@breezy Tl i know huh lol and yea man do the swap with an accord one its simple yet frustrating to get too, because once you get to the tranny youll see it sits exactly the same. You can go acura tranny but id advise go 06 there a bit better.

So the range sensor is literally the only thing that is different? I would definitely swap it myself, however I'm hundreds of miles away from my car and the repair is up to my family. So yeah I'm pretty much screwed.

I found a place that will rebuild my transmission for $1500, which includes a new torque converter. You guys think I should pull the trigger?

I'd be real careful with a rebuild. Typically a master kit rebuild on a 5 speed automatic is at least $2000. Plus you definitely want a shop that can also include the TransLab shift kit if you can find one. Makes a noticeable improvement in shift quality.
