well technically they haven't revealed the specs yet so they could have been bluffing the whole time about hte graphics not being that great.

 

I think Wii's gonna FLOP - casual gamers aren't interested in it, while 360 and PS3 appeal to a much broader crowd

 

I disagree. I've seen that many casual gamers are more interested in it than the 360 or ps3 becuase they dont' have to pay out the ass for it, and it has a lot of pick up and play games that don't require more than 20 minutes to get any enjoyment out of them.

I think it's more the "hardcore" gamers that are less interested in it.

 

Agreed. Casual gamers are going to eat this thing up. So are a lot of old school gamers who want the ability to play old games through the console instead of an emulator on their PC. Not to mention, a lot of kids will be getting this b/c they are too young to have an expensive gaming unit and their parents can't justify the price of a 260 or PS3... which makes sense. No way I'd spend that kind of money on a video game system for a young kid.

The hardcore gamers are the ones who will avoid the Wii. Fortunately for Nintendo, there are many, many more casual gamers then there are hardcore gamers. I personally find myself in the middle. Casual b/c I don't play that often, but hardcore b/c I love the power and multi-function ability of the 360 and the Wii. However, I'm not casual to the point where I'll shell out the money for the Wii to play Mario, Zelda, Metriod, or games like that for the 18th time on a new system with a gimmicky controller.

But, there are millions of people who will... and that's why I think the Wii will take the early lead this holiday season.

 

That would be hilarious. Although I doubt they'd want the negative press about the graphics being almost equal to the Gamecube. I'm sure if they had HD output, they would have been showing it all along... but you never know with Nintendo.

But, I don't think that is the secret since enough specs have been released to know that the output is 480p max...

if they are bluffing and actually do run at 720p that would be one of the funniest moves yet and catch both other systems with their pants down... but i doubt that will happen...

 

As funny and cool as that would be it's most likely not the case. I'd say it's probably about the online features because there hasn't been much info on that yet.

Of all the specs they have kept secret, their output resolution is not one of them as indicated by the link I posted above... so the odds are it's something we haven't heard about yet.

So it looks like the game cube controller WILL work with the cirtual console games. means I won't have to buy classic controllers JUSt for the VC games which is a major plus cuz I already have 3.

 

so now i need to find 2 consoles, my mother thought i would be a good present for my lil cousins too...

i think i will be all set though... Targets near me have 60 or more coming in and i will be campin out...

Why aren't people as crazy and hyped out about Wii than the PS3? I haven't seen any pictures of people camping out for the Wii. I think the Wii is the silent assassin here.

 

because there are going to be twice as many Wii's at launch than PS3's so people aren't too worried about getting one.

also the ps3 has all these "high deff graphixxxx!! OMGZ!!" so people are all hyped about that, while the Wii has a different controller and most people are afraid of new things, so they aren't as hyped about it.

personally I'm pretty excited for teh Wii, and not so much about the PS3 becaue I've seen the xbox360's graphics after all the hype and was pretty let down and thus doubt the Ps3's graphics will be that much superior.

 

So, um.....what are my chances of getting a Wii on sunday morning, either at Best Buy or Target? They're near each other, and less than a mile from my home.

I can see them getting at least 50 units each.

 

Seeing hows there 2million units if you get there like an hour early you probably have a decent shot. When gamecube came out the target I went to had 116 units. Im not sure how many gamecubes were released 5 years ago though.

 

What colors are the Wii coming out in on release day? I want to get a black Wii and not a white one if I had to choose.

unfortunatley they decided to scrap the other colors and are just going with the white version... for now.

and yeah I saw a wii kiosk at the gamestop I preordered from a month ago when I was htere.

walmarts already have them in stock, i got to see the wii box when i bought my ps3

the one i went to already had 18 of them and were expecting to have 26 on launch.

 

Yea there will be 2 million wiis avaible sunday so they wont be hard to find like PS3.

 

so i am assuming that the wii wont have any people waiting in lines all across the country for it? the wii is for childrean though, gamers arnt looking for cloudy,puffy games.

you will probably be able to pick one up on launch day, but expect them to be sold out for a few weeks thereafter.
