Oh yes, fair enough. They mentionned it’s the most powerful of its class. Also, the seats have available nappa leather. I thought the screen was touch but it’s not, it uses the touchpad only but the touchpad uses an intuitive 1:1 positioning system.

sorry - I think the longevity of a V-6 is better than a Turbo 4

I was hoping they would have a V6 also. I’m hoping they provide a V6 turbo option for the 2019 RDX Aspec because they did mention we would see V6 Turbos from Acura in the future. The trend now for auto companies seems to be lower the engine from 6 to 4 cylinder and use the cost savings to improve the interior.

I'm not sure twin turbo V6s will do much for Acura in terms of sales.
The typical SUV buyer are not looking for 0-60 in the 4 seconds. I would think they are more focus on the features, utility and safety features of the car. if I'm in the market for a luxury SUV then 0-60 in the low 6's or high 5's with plenty of features, storage space and sound system would be a winner. Right now the RDX looks like a winner over the X1 and NX300.
Now if you put a twin turbo V6 in the TLX with SH-AWD that's another story

Every year I wait to see if they will add Android Auto. Oh well, maybe next year when my lease is up.

I saw Apple CarPlay on a photo of the display so crossing my fingers.

This one probably has Android Auto. Actually, I'm willing to bet that it does. Apple Carplay is confirmed so I don't see it missing the Android option as it's available on the TLX, NSX and most of the recent Hondas. It's an Android based system afterall.

So this may be picky, but doesn't the LED screen there get in the way of the front channel speaker? Just a bit. Maybe the design is that the sound wave bounces off of it and the windshield and such, but it just seems a little strange that it looks like it is right in front of it. I am probably wrong and the speaker produces sound straight up and not right at you. Other than that, interior looks nice. If that little center display would retract when the car is off, I would like it even better. Something else to break I guess.

Convert those CDc to Apple Lossless format (m4a), copy files to IPOD and you will not miss handling those CDs. As clunky as the 2018 entertainment system generally is on the 2018, I'm quite happy with the way it supports the IPOD. The interface to support the same music on a USB stick on the other hand was really bad. The 2019 should improve both of these.

Non-sense! Honda knows how to build engines. I am original owner of 2008 RDX (turbo) with 160K miles. Powertrain has been flawless. There are nearly zero problems with Turbo in 1st gen.

I'm with you but if it's like other Android Auto implementations in HUD equipped vehicles, the HUD may not show the turn instructions when using Android Auto and only show them when using the native nav, which is a bummer because it's very convenient to have them in your direct line of vision.

When I watched the roll out they mentioned V6 Turbo in general terms, I don’t see RDX getting that, maybe a RLX replacement and maybe a TLX Type-S.

So it looks like the RDX won't have the engine stop/start feature that is becomming more and more common on new cars? I sure hope it doesn't as that would be a deal breaker for me. We looked at the 2018 model RDX's at the San Jose car show a couple of weeks ago and really liked them. I'm thinking my wife and I are going to like the 2019's even better when we get to see them in person.

I actually dislike the nav so much that I use my phone with a vent mount right next to the steering wheel.
The nav is slow with outdated maps (which I am not paying to upgrade since it's so horrible to begin with). The routing options aren't the best and it doesn't show traffic. So I just tend to use Google Maps or Waze.

So I have a 2011 RDX tech FWD, which I enjoy very much since I also have a 2004 Saturn Vue V6 (Honda powertrain), which runs like a charm, but is a 2004 Saturn. The 2019 Acura RDX just looks great upon first look, and others have noted, it seems to hit all the check boxes for what was needed. Two things, I could do without the metal chrome trim at the bottom of the doors. Just seems something to get dented and dirt in between the door itself and the trim. Also, does it have wireless charging? The newer cars are going there, and it is not a deal breaker, but the space underneath the touchpad/shifter seems to be ripe to put your cell phone to charge. And since it is buried, it will keep your eyes on the road from a safety point of view. I love the round dual exhaust ports at the back. Was going to buy an ATLP exhaust for my 1G just to get those, but didn't want to spend $1G on round ports. I think if they add the Hybrid mode to this as well, I may have to jump in.

You’re alone on that one. The 2019 RDX looks fantastic, possibly the best looking crossover right now. It’s built on an entirely new platform distinct from the CRV that is stiffer and lighter. The diamond pentagon grill and new jewel eye headlights along with the dragon tail lights and real exhausts (not just caps) says luxury. I believe the debate will no longer be is the RDX premium or luxury, the debate is now can vehicles like the Lexus NX match the RDX’s luxury features, performance and technological advancements? Acura just put other luxury automakers on notice with this new vehicle!

That’s not it. I agree with that and even said that numerous times on here. My point was that he has a “tendency” of becoming extremely fanboyish and sounding like an ad. I.e “dragon tail, tail ligh”....I know that’s what Acura is calling them but give me a break.

Four years ago after owning 12 Acura's over 25 years between my wife and I we switched over to Lexus. She has a 2015 RX450h and I have a 2017 Lexus ESh. Can not beat the reliability, cost of maintenance and gas mileage. She was looking at a 2018 newly designed NX. We heard at first it was getting HUD and a panoramic roof. Found out these are only available outside the United States. I posted on the Lexus NX forum a link to the 2019 RDX with a title the NX killer. We will wait until probably fall for the hybrid which I will estimate will have more horsepower than the 4 cyl turbo and get guessing 30 mpg city and 32 highway. Love everything about this RDX including the grille, interior, shifter, center console, android auto, HUD, panoramic roof, no two tone seats etc... As stated above Acura hit it out of the park on this one.
#34
Well, I bought a 2017 RDX because I had little confidence that Acura would be able to deliver on the next generation and I liked the idea of V6 with a conventional 6 speed automatic. While they did move to the turbo 4 as most predicted (interested to see how it performs in real world driving) all the other doubts I had especially around moving to a CVT did not materialize. The new RDX looks good and I will certainly be looking at these in a couple of years when I switch out my car for whatever is next.

Not gonna happen - the Aspec will be available at launch, whereas the V6T is a few years out (likely coinciding with the Type S launch).
Halo models are never meant to be sales leaders, they exist to lure in buyers who ultimately get the more affordable version with similar looks (A-spec). So yes, most of these buyers don't care about hardcore performance, but a good chunk of em are willing to pay a bit more to improve the looks, hence the popularity of M-Sport, S-Line, F-Sport, etc.
The Acura exclusive platform was engineered to incorporate a V6, and given that a turbocharged (not normally aspirated) one was announced, it's probably a safe bet.

So is this car not based on the CRV platform? That sounds too implausible for me to comprehend. Both cars are nearly the same size and have similar proportions and seating capabilities. I understand that no other body panels are shared either interior or exterior, but calling it a new platform is too much. Is there a good enough reason to spend on designing a different platform when there CRV is so newly launched. Someone please explain it to me. I would assume something like VW and Audi using same platforms to create different cars.

As far as Audi, VW, and others, Volkswagen Group has a smattering of platforms, some shared between VW and Audi, others between Audi and Porsche, and some that are literally across the line usage.

From what I am hearing, not sure where it is coming from because I can’t seem to find solid proof. It is that the new RDX is using the CRV platform but has modified front and rear sections to accomodate a V6 engine and SH-AWD. However my issue is that when the 1G RDX came out official Honda press releases were calling it a completely unique platform too. Really the main differences were shocks, sway bars and some mild bracing changes. So no the 1G RDX wasn’t on a unique platform like Acura was stating and I also have a VERY hard time believing they spent all that time and money developing the (wildly) successful new civic, accord,CRV platform only to not use it on a model that represents a fraction of their global sales.
Iirc the CRV alone sells around 300k units a year (nevermind civic and accord sales), RDX is around 50K units a year....why would they possibly make a whole new platform for the RDX? It doesn’t make logical or financial sense. Also, I watched the official detroit release where Acura spokespeople were speaking (namely Ikeda) and they did mention the type S trim coming back however they did not in any terms state the RDX would be getting it. I have no idea where this idea that the RDX is getting a V6T engine is coming from. Then you have people throwing a whole bunch of numbers around (not their fault because reviewers are messing up like crazy) like 40% more torque, 150% or 40% more torque to the rear differential....etc.
Safe to say people are getting a little bit over excited and therefore rumours and false information is being passed on as real information. I just want to note that if someone can provide a solid link to where the new RDX platform was modified for a V6 please share, and I want to point out that this in no way means the RDX is getting a V6T....it could be keeping a naturally aspirated V6 as an option.

What happened is Honda applied for a patent for a new V6T. This makes complete sense as the other premium brands are using 3.0T V6's. It would be cool to see it in an RDX Type-S, but I won't hold my breath either. Much more likely to be seen in the MDX to replace the 3.5DI motor. As that motor is also used in the TLX & RLX it will likely show up in those lines as well.

Folks,
Don't get too excited too quickly. Yes, the improvements in the 2019 RDX appear positive, however, I would wait for at least one production year before jumping in. Acura/Honda have had major problems building quality transmissions in many of their models. The transmission judder in the RDX it a good example. Acura made no effort to find a real fix for the problem. I had to get rid of my 2014 RDX. Don't become part of Acura's quality assurance/feedback program!
