it would be much longer than that. I refuse to be a guinea pig for Acura, or any make for that matter. I wouldn't buy a new model until it was on year 3.... that puts the new Type S at least 5 years away for me. We also don't know if the Type S will be launched right off the bat. It never has in the past. But that was also at least a decade ago, so who knows.

a badge and 15hp isn't going to make anyone buy this car.

nowww...if they brought back the 6MT...

they'd get at least 10 more sales, for sure

The 4GC is the family car in the series (Coupe, Convertible, GC) & like the convertible does not come with a 6MT as an option. If you want a play car to row your own with you are limited to the Coupe in the 4 series.

Would not be terribly surprised to see that option go away when the G series replaces the F's. They don't even have 6MT's available at "M" driving school anymore. The used to be a choice you made when you confirmed the date. Instructor said too many who claimed to be able to drive manual were frying the M series clutches. All are 7DCT now.

Wonder if those hoping for a 400BHP Type-S are going to be hit by the reality of the last Type-S power increase?

Still haven't seen any new Accords as of late and because the 2.0L isn't coming out until mid-December/early Jan 2018, I suppose the TLX retirement party can be put on hold for a few more months.

well, I drove the 1.5t accord sport about a week ago. I was lukewarm on it. It handled really well, but there was a surprising amount of road noise. My right leg kept hitting the center console and I didn’t like that either. I drove it back to back with a 2017 touring and liked that a lot better, but I was still thrilled to get back into my TLX

Most everything in Germany comes with a 6MT. I believe the 4GC is available in a manual, the dealer just didn't have one they could give me. Or so I was told.

But seriously, pretty much everything comes in a manual in Germany. You can get a fully loaded, top trim CR-V with a 6MT.

No joke.

It proves how stupid Honda executives are when it comes to US market, their largest market.

Why note just offer 6MT as an option, even if it has to be special ordered?

I swear to y'all...just seeing that 6MT in an SUV gave me a little one of those willy shivers that leads to wood in your pants.
I am moving to Europe. Murrica is so lazy they forgot they like using their left legs.

All you guys hating on the design, have you gone and seen one in person yet? I think in person the car looks great, the only thing that let me down a little was the design of the rear taillights, but overall I think it's handsome sedan. The fact that it throws down a 14.1 second 1/4mile with the 2.0T 10spd auto is completely wild to me.

I'm going in to the Honda dealer this weekend for an oil change - looking forward to seeing one in person.

I wish the 4GC came in a manual in the US. Just about everything else they bring here has a manual option but not the 4GC. No idea why.

The Accord is really growing on me. When compared to the A7, they do look very similar in shape... the A7 has some sleeker lines but I think what really does it for the A7 and not the Accord is the ride height and wheel size. The Accord rides visibly higher (as expected. Because Honda) and looks a bit more awkward than sleek. Easily fixable, though. I'm sure we will have coil over solutions in 6 months or less.

also, what did the previous V6 Accord run in the 1/4 mile? 14.1s doesn't sound that impressive... isn't that more or less what it always would come in at? Or am I out to lunch?

Agree with you 100% . Design in person and in picture looks great. Rear tail light I don't like, just as you.

Since the 90-93 Accord, 2018 is the best designed best driving Accord.

I guess when I think Honda Accord I don't think of a car that's a good set of tires away from a 13.XX 1/4 mile time. Think of it this way, once HONDATA gets their hands on the 2.0T they will kick out a reliable tune that's good for a 40-60+ hp and tq boost and this will be a REALLY fun sedan.

Yeah the overall stance is a dead giveaway but the HONDA still looks good.

On the manuals in Europe. Lived there for 8 years & generally we only had AT's on the high end company cars, the rest were all 6MT up through small engined 5 & E series. That said the take on AT's has greatly increased there over what it was. Not much demand here so BMW, pretty much the last holdout, is slowly backing away. Expect some cars "M" & "AMG" versions will have them for a while but a MT in every car line is dead.

No point when there is no demand. Would cost to much to EPA qualify & maintain a replacement & service parts inventory. Acura bailed on the MT after making a huge deal over it in the model 2010 TLX. Take rate for the 6MT was in the low single digits for a car which had already lost 50% of its overall sales. Don't think the take rate was much over 10% with the G3TL. Never very popular. Yes I had one & they had to ship the car in from out of state

I read somewhere the take rate of the 6MT 3G TL was only about 4.5%. Don't know if that is accurate as I don't remember the source, but it doesn't sound far fetched.

I think you will see 300HP Accord 2.0T 6MT quite easily

The CR-V is very appealing except for the CVT only transmission. I would seriously consider if the 6MT was an option.

People used to have to H swap and strip their Accords in order to get that 14.1 1/4 mile time. Now you're getting it with a full interior and street tires. I don't mind that all. I love the new body design. The wheels on the Touring, to me, look the best out of all the trim levels. We've been getting them in every week here and they look great. Especially in the different colors. Me, and a couple of other sales people, are waiting for the 2.0T to get here so we can take them out for a spin and try out the new motor. Can't wait. Sadly, from what I was just told by my manager, we won't have them til December some time

Maybe we're just getting old because that's the exact kind of comparisons I think of as well when I see a 14.1 sec 1/4 mile. That kind of time was never achievable in a Honda without either FI or an engine swap 15-20 years ago.

Exactly. I had a guy in a stripped out 92 Accord with an H22a swap with I/H/E keep up with my 6spd 04 TSX. That made me not even want my car anymore. Lol. I know there are more cars out there modded like that that can keep up with the TSX. That's fine. But just simple mods like those and he's able to hang with my car with a better motor made me realize, nope and nope.

I've seen 2 10G Accords on the road, while only seeing one TLX A-Spec.

Still does nothing for me.....Still looks like my neighbors Malibu.
