Now I have to wait until August 7th before the springs can get installed (alignment too). The dealer is booked solid unless it's an emergency or an inspection due. Crap.
Yeah, isn't there some other garage that services BMWs you can go to, Chef...?
When I put springs on my E60 M5 I used a shop that does BMW mods. I'm guessing there has to be at least an independent in the area that could do the work.

I gather they were cheaper than the dealership as well, Herr Mod...?
There's a shop 70 miles away or so called "The Little Speed Shop" who have a shop also at Watkins Glen Int'l. They're well-respected and the only other place I'd take it. When I called for an appointment, they said it takes 8 hours with alignment and "could I leave the car." No, I need to wait for it if I'm going 70 miles to have it done. That 8 hour thing raised a big red flag with me because every message board I've seen, the posters have all said it's a 2-3 hour job max.
ttribe: I was out billing hours but the car is paid for already.
It's easy to do with my phone because all I use is a cell phone. At the end of the day just go thru log and write down time spent with each client. It's not difficult really Colts, you get used to it.
I watched the install video yesterday; it looks like it literally takes 15 minutes or less. Every 650 F06/12/13 "chip" thread I've read about this product from guys with Teslas, Lambos and other exotics in their garage tout the remarkable increases in power/torque using this chip. The downside is the chip causes some abrupt shifting in Sport and Sport + mode but I can live with that I'm sure.
The shifting in my 650 is seamless nearly so I don't know what was going on with the vehicle you drove. Did it have the 8 speed tranny? I would simply unplug the chip on trips to the dealer or pull it out altogether. It's so easily installed I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Yes it was 8AT. it was during the BMW driving event thing. I dont think anything is wrong with the car i test drove. Even my car in sport+ and Sport auto would give me that "brutal" sharp shifting when WOT from standing still, the i could just feel that much more with the 650 because of the torque and the car has that DSG shifting sound too. not the same brutal as miss a shift in 6mt, but in a sharp/quick way. But under normal driving, it is smooth.
As far as the unplug, i was just curious since some people with JB4 are saying that the car's ECU stores the data even if you unplug it. I guess normally it would not be an issue as they have no reason to "investigate" when when something big happens, that is when they look at the stored data.
But they could just be BSing me...
backing out of spot with a curb stone that had fallen slightly in towards parking spot-as I turned the wheel right to clear the car behind, I heard a light "scrccccch" and groaned. That gets painted this week.

Yeah, that sound is cringing for any car owner. >_<
