Just wanted to say hi and glad to be part of this forum. I just picked up my first Acura a 2007 TL Type-S manual. It was a friend of the families car that I've been waiting for him to sell for 3 years. It's a one owner and has 124k miles and he takes it to the dealer for all the work done which he has all the records of. It's been really well maintained for a 10 year old car. I love how much power it has and the sound is addicting. I'm a manual die hard so I couldn't get an automatic. I'm new to Honda cars but I've had plenty of Honda motorcycles. I come from Toyota and VWs for cars. I'll be looking for lots if maintenance tips here on the forum.
Here are a few pictures of the car
Also I just picked up my 2nd Acura a 1997 CL 3.0. Bought it for a daily driver \ winter beater for $500 I couldn't pass it up. It's really clean for a 20 year old car. (last picture)
Thanks everyone. I'm pretty happy with it so far. I originally bought the 97 CL to flip, but now that I love the Type-S so much I may keep it so I can keep the miles and snow off the Type-S.
I am in the Minneapolis, MN area wondering if there is anyone else around here with TLs or Acuras/Hondas in general that do any meet ups.
Thanks
Wow, that thing looks mint. Nice score, especially knowing the previous owner and that it was well maintained at the dealer.
I just picked up a second TL to replace my first, and I'm sorta regretting not waiting out for a 6MT. I really prefer it so much to an auto.
That being said, I feel like the TL auto box is pretty good. Been happy with my current one.

Not to make you rethink your decision, but the 6MT (assuming ACDelco Synchromesh Friction Modified MTF is used) is an absolute joy to drive and shift.

Yeah, I know... I wanted a really mint TL, and found one in the color combo I wanted and just decided to jump on it. I am already regretting it a little, but it might have taken me another 6 mos to find one that met all the criteria, and I couldn't wait that long. Just decided to pull the trigger. Plus, I may keep this one as a commuter, and just add an M3 or something fun to the stable in another year.
make sure you look into the gm friction modified mtf switch out, slave cylinder check valve delete, and if you really want to really enjoy the manual, look into hybrid racing shifter bushings, a heavy shift knob, and the comptech short shifter. all those mods together make the manual that much better!!

Thanks, yea I've been reading about the MT fluid switch out for the GM stuff that's my first priority right now. I do notice 3rd gear sometimes won't go in and it gets annoying hoping that will fix it. Also am getting the fuel cap warning and I found the info on that. Looks like a easy fix replacing the EVAP purge valve canister/solenoid.

yup both are pretty easy fixes, glad to hear you're been reading up and finding info. lots of people just want to be spoon fed but with a 9-13 year old car there's lot of info that's been posted in here haha.
i switched to the gm fluid even though my car was new back when i bought it, i'm pretty sure it will fix the issues you're having...it's magic

I had the same third gear issue when I bought my car back in May, the Synchromesh FM MTF fixed it immediately.
Damm that is an Great looking TL congrats on The Manual. Those are hard to find in Cali
I just bought an 07 TL type S too. I am not new to the Honda family but this is my first Acura. ITs my dream car. Cant wait to start the upgrading. Keep me posted so we can show the new mods.
Nice grab! Now just murder the wheel gap with some springs or coilovers and you're set.
Ugh; please don't abuse the car by tearing it up in that way. I know a lot of folks like the whole slammed look, but yikes, what a way to eff up a car.
^It won't ruin it if done correctly. Agree with you on "not slamming it"! But a slight drop is visually appealing, and can't be nice for handling as well.

I have to disagree, a drop, even a slight one looks like crap and does nothing to improve handling or the ride.

Welcome to the page and TL family. There's a couple MN specific Fb groups you should join. There was a TL cruise and BBQ a couple weeks ago. No one really posts in the regional thread on here anymore. 😜

i agree. When i was younger, dropping the height was the best thing ever. But having to drive near curbs, bumps, hills and ride harshness quickly gets annoying. OEM springs/shocks last MUCH longer too. Getting tires in 245/45 17 is a great way to close the gap and give the car a more aggresive look.

We all had that "younger" days lol, in all serious tho I just hate the bounce in the suspension and the hassle to return to stock for a quick sale once I decide to move on another car.

I agree.. Coming from German marques, there's too much "bounce" in the ride. Would like a bit firmer, and a bit lower. A 3/4" drop would be about perfect, visually, IMHO.
I know a lot of people are riding on the Tein sport shock / spring combo. I'd like to ride in someone's before I make any sort of commitment to do something, however.
OP can you please PM me how much you paid for this....looks real nice and clean....I say cause I am in similar boat having picked up a 04 TL and just saw a really clean Type S at a local dealer show up and would love t hear of what you paid for your ride....

Agreed I won't be dropping the car anytime soon. My buddy lowered his A4 and after driving it a few Minnesota winters here he has replaced control arms multiple times.
I will keep the car mostly stock as I do with most of my cars\motorcycles. I prefer the clean look.
Yeah, here in New Hampshire it is pretty much the same story; folks who drop their cars end up not driving them very much from December through March. The thing is, FWD snowplows don't work very well.
