Rented a 2016 A4 quattro automatic in Chicago last weekend. That CVT ruins the car.

I'm surprised they use CVT since their DCT is widely praised

 

CVT ruins every car. Even a "good" CVT is shit compared to an auto.

 

Only CVT I drove extensively was a '13 Maxima. I didn't love it, but it was still fun to drive.

 

The CVT in my civic isn't bad

 

DCT is new for 2017 on the A4. It's great. However, it also makes another 30 HP over the previous gen.

 

I didn't have an issue with my CVT in the 13' Accord. In the sport I just paddle shift that shit all the time... really missing a manual car....

 

it isn't good either

im curious how the long term reliability will pan out on those transmissions. Honda seemed a little late to jump on the CVT bandwagon. Maybe they figured out how to make them last. I dunno.

 

When I get the oddy next year, the touring oddy has 10 speed, Ex-L you get the 9spd.... price difference of about 6k iirc.... with cvt I can feel the hesitation (I guess you can call it that) but it's not too bad. I have warranty anyway, so let it go out.
