Okay, I caved. Traded the remaining 2015 TLX in for a RED A-Spec Elite SH-AWD.

I get the car serviced for her and even personally detail it for her. Some typical german car gremlins that can be very frustrating and disappointing. I have 94k miles on my 2012 RL and spend more time taking her car back to Audi with just 15k miles on her A3 Prestige. But I still love driving her Audi. And it is so damn sharp looking. Monsoon Grey with Tobacco leather seats.
My buddy has an A3 but with the 1.8T. It's nice but I didn't really care for it that much driving wise.

Thanks! I'll try to take some tomorrow.

For now, I only have this one that I took at the dealership next to the black 2015 I traded in.

Holy shit, the front badge size comparison is crazy!!

though to be honest... I think I like the new one better than the old one. At least in this side by side photo.

Congrats with the new car! If you don't mind me asking, how did the trade go? Any decent rebates now for current TLX owners?

To those of you who have owned Audi's, at what point would you say Audi made the change for better reliability? I'm looking at older Q5's and I want to be careful to avoid bad years.

Thanks

Test drove a new TLX yesterday, awd with tech package, their Aspec cars were only fwd and once I saw the seats partially in the fake suede/alcantara no longer interested in the Aspec. Really loved the awd, drove in sport mode but a bit disappointed in power delivery for amount of horsepower the car has. As comparison the A5 with the 2.0 Turbo felt stronger. But I really liked the leather and deviation stitching. One thing I hate about my current '13 TL is the horrible nav interface. Didn't play around too much with the nav yesterday on the TLX but salesman tried while I was driving and he even struggled with it. Not sure what that says about current nav on these cars. All in all if it was my decision I would be buying a new TLX with advanced package in AWD. Very nice car for the money.

They also had a new NSX in blue the buyer backed out. Once the sales manager saw my 911 he couldn't wait to try and push the NSX on me. Zero interest in the NSX. Acura missed the price entry point on that car, especially with the GTR outperforming it in almost every category and at a much lower price point.

One last comment I found a bit discouraging. Arrived around 2 on a Saturday and we were only customer entire time. Plus it appeared they had numerous new '18 TLX's plus a huge inventory of '17's which they are starting to discount heavily it appears. Would have hoped there would be a lot more interest in the new sedan:-(

Where are you located? Sounds like a different experience most of us have had with the dealerships who have '18 stock of TLXs. What were you trying to do with the NAV? While it does not have a bunch of 3D buildings like my former Cadillac CTS CUE (which had its own issues), it's pretty straight forward and is easy to operate.

The A-Spec looks like it sits a little higher than the old car. Is that just an illusion?

The pre-MMC model's logo is too small (and looks stupid with the big beak). The MMC is a little larger than I like but I don't hate it

My son said the same thing. But while the overall height and ground clearance don't seem any different from the old car, I think the redesigned grill and hood has the front edge of the hood sitting a little higher than where the old one sat. In side profile, the silhouette is a little less sleek, if you will. It makes the car look more imposing, and I believe the larger logo is appropriately sized for this new face on the car.

I'd love to pick up a set of A-spec springs though, for my current car.

That's an interesting idea. Have you had a chance to test drive the A-Spec yet? I find the ride is indeed fractionally stiffer while not giving up much ride compliance. With the wider 245 Michelins, this car definitely feels more planted.

Took my Sunday stroll. My dealer had around 5Aspecs. Blue, 3 black, and a grey. None
were awd. There was a white ASpec last week but that's gone. All had black interior. This is the first time I've seen the blue in person. It looks really good and it's growing on me. Black looks badass. Last week I thought the grey looked good, but seeing it again I'm liking it less. Like someone mentioned, the rims are too tonal to set them off. I was waiting to purchase until spring of 18, but I'm really getting the itch. I'm afraid it I take a test drive I'll end up buying it. I do want awd though. These are taken in Limerick Pa.

It looks better then I thought. It has a lot of dust and pollen on it from transport but as you can see it still looked really good.

Live in NE Oklahoma but dealer is in NW Arkansas. I believe I counted 12 of the new TLX's. I'm sure the Nav is much improved over the '13 model. But always use Smartphone nav instead of vehicles nav anyway.

I think he's talking about the overall roof height. In that picture you posted the red TLX roof looks like it almost lines up with that window frame while the old tlx looks lower than that window line if it makes sense.

Oh, I see. They don't seem any different to me. The impression given from the photo I took might really be just down to the angle. Would be interesting to know if there really is a difference.

The black looks good. It helps tone down the grill. Probably does the same for the rear valence.

I just took another look, it's a optical illusion. The black ones' roof blends into the window making it appear lower. Regardless, really really LOVE that red color. It's so deep and shiny! Congratulations man.

Both cars look good I think the new grill looks great on all of the colours I have seen. I am curious what the new grill would look like if they had left the same shape and size as the old one, without the so called solid silver "beak".
Congrats on the purchase!

Thanks, guys. I don't regret the red actually. I just have to stay away from the dealership for a while in case I can't stop myself from getting a blue one as well!! LOL

When I got the black 2015, I liked it so much I went back and got a white one to go with it. Let's not do that again.

Not sure if this is the correct thread for this, but something I've noticed after driving the new A-Spec for a little bit. The car feels more "expensive". It's hard to explain. In a strange way, it feels a bit like my old 740i, only with air-conditioning that works. The weightiness in the steering, and the little improvements in the tactile feel of a lot of the switchgear contributes to a sense of serenity with substance. The A-Spec seems to be a really nice place to be, and you can't beat it for price as well.

Well done, Acura.

While it does look better in person, im still not loving it. The grille i can live with, but that logo.... sheesh. They should have made the bottom of the grille shorter, and adjust that logo accordingly

Nice pics. I saw the white & blue A-spec TLX at my local dealer yesterday. I took my parents car shopping for a MDX & down the row were the new 2018 TLX's where the front ends stood out a lot. They reminded me kinda like the Acura CL's for a bit. I saw pic's online & wasn't impressed but you need to see it in person. The white A-spec was the best looking. I currently have an '04 black pearl & my back is tired from keeping it detailed lol. This coming Tuesday most of the salespersons at my local dealer are attending training for the new 2018 TLX. I was waiting for 2018 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pros to come out but this new refreshed TL got me thinking. Both cars about the same in price. Decisions... decisions.
You are right Rockstar... the fold-away mirrors & remote engine start available in the ADV package need to be in the A-spec package. Don't know why a few options are ADV package exclusive. The surround camera view would be nice to get for the A-spec which the ADV package has. One other thing that should be an option is some type of upgraded brake calipers or just optional color.

I guess if you are used to the low end torque of a boosted 4, the linear power delivery of a NA V6 might feel different.

I have a feeling the sales rep didn't know how to use Apple Carplay/Android Auto yet? It's new to the TLX so perhaps he should get familiar with the system first...haha

If bang for the buck is the main priority, the GT-R or Corvette is your best bet. The likes of NSX and Audi R8 both offer something different. For instance, these two are way more comfortable than the GT-R, and has a midship layout which gives you a totally different feeling. The R8 also offers a V10 powerplant, while the NSX is like a mini 918 Spyder in a sense that it's the only hybrid super car in its price range.

blue A-Spec

Was down at the local Acura dealer today. They have just 2 A-specs (blue and red). Salesperson said they have not sold one yet but just got them in last week. Didn't drive one but the car definitely looks amazing. Sticker was just over 45K and they said at most they will discount 1K. I like it but after getting my 2017 v6 with tech for about 33k with fogs and rear deck spoiler. I need the price to come down a lot more. I will say the new front end is amazing and the new lines in the hood are really nice as well as the wheels. Sales person said overall it doesn't drive much different than the pre 2018 models. Don't like the inserts in the black leather but overall it's a very nice looking car. Just wonder how long till the pricing gets more aggressive. If the styling trend continues the 2nd gen will be amazing.

I can't answer that as these are my first Audi's. I should add though that a close friend of mine is coming to the end of a lease on his second straight S8. Not a single problem with either of them

Yeah, a few cool touches would be nice! I'm really pissed that they have not put the floor shifter in the A-Spec also. Oh, and add HUD to my wish list.

Right now I'm starting to follow the 440 Gran Coupe as you have noticed. Don't want to do it here, but would like your thoughts. I was going to order a 540, but the stupid side of my brain is telling me to not spend so much for reasons too long to go into here.

The 2015 had major problems which did not plague the later models so I have no doubt its a better drive. The 18 has the same powertrain as the 2017. My point only being that I don't think it's a 12k upgrade but when the discounts hit 5 or 6k on it then I am on it. Don't get me wrong, I love the car and think they really did a fantastic job on the upgrades they did add. Basicly with tax and other fees the A-Spec was pushing close to 50K versus a 2017 that you could get the top model as of a few months ago to 36K all in or less.
