First - You're a mod, use the Quote function.

Second - I didn't say that and I'm not advocating for its use. I pointed out that it wasn't a preference thing, it's a geographical thing. If you want to look like a backwards American xenophobe by denigrating people over how they pronounce a damn word, I suppose that's your business

ohh jeezus, lighten up. Of course it's a geographical thing. I was speaking of the country we live in-you walk in to a U.S. BMW dealer and say "coo-pay" and you're going to look like you're a Euro-trash snob. Over there, we would get those looks. I never said it was the only way to say it world-wide.

Oh, really? I saw you were asked about Clarkson pronouncing the word in the European manner and you lumped him in with your "douche" comment. That hardly seems consistent with your position now.

You said 'anyone', correct?

Pretty sure my nine-year old and seven-year old haven't. My sixteen-year old, maybe. They're a pretty prudish bunch, language-wise; they take after their mom in that respect.

Some tidbits regarding the 2016...

For anyone that’s thinking BMW has lost its way with cars like the oddly-shaped Gran Turismos and the blasphemous front-driving 2-Series Active Tourer, this promo video for the 2016 M6 range should restore your faith in the blue and white roundel.

The cars have just been updated for the 2016 model year, along with the rest of the 6-Series range, and bring to the table revised styling as well as a longer list of standard equipment.

Unfortunately, there haven’t been any upgrades to the M6 powertrain, which remains a turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 delivering a peak 560 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, with the latter available from just 1,500 rpm. Those seeking even more power can opt for the car’s Competition Package, which boosts output to 575 hp.

As a bonus, we’ve added a second video showing a version of BMW’s M4 equipped with many of the car’s available M Performance upgrades. And with an all-new M2 just around the corner, M fans have never been more spoiled for choice!

The BMW 6 Series coupe is dead - Autoblog

On the heels of news that Kia killed the Forte Koup, Road & Track reported the death of another two-door coupe, the BMW 6 Series. We confirmed this with a representative at BMW. He provided an official statement that said production ended back in February, but he didn't provide any information as to why the model was discontinued, or what the future holds for it. He did confirm that the 6 Series convertible and Gran Coupe are still in production, but couldn't comment on whether they may be discontinued in the near future.

The disappearance of the 6 Series coupe means that the midsize luxury coupe segment is all but abandoned. The only vehicle left is the Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe. And if luxury buyers don't want that, they'll have to either upgrade to the huge, expensive Mercedes S-Class coupe, or downsize to something like a BMW 4 Series, Audi A5, or Cadillac ATS.

We don't think we've seen the last of healthy-sized BMW coupes, though. Over the past few months, we've seen BMW testing a new coupe that could be either a new 6 Series, or perhaps a return of the larger 8 Series. The use of either nameplate is quite plausible. One is already in use, and the other has come up in trademarks and alleged BMW model documentation. In short: stay tuned, coupe lovers.

8 Series Returns

During a BMW meeting today in Munich, the chairman of the BMW board Harald Krüger confirmed that the BMW 8 Series Coupe is slated for arrival in 2018. Today is a very good day.

Later this month, BMW will show us a design concept at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, which it says will give an “exclusive look” at the upcoming coupe. In the meantime, here’s a sketch that doesn’t really tell us much.

“The BMW 8 Series Coupe will build on our tradition of luxurious sports coupes and add a genuine dream car to our line-up—a slice of pure automotive fascination,” said Krüger. “The 8 Series Coupe will underpin our claim to leadership in the luxury segment. I can tell you today that this will be a true luxury sports coupe.”

This news comes right after we learned that the 6 Series Coupe has been discontinued, leaving an executive coupe-shaped hole in the BMW lineup.
Rumors of the 8 Series’ return have been circling for years and it looks like it’s finally happening. BMW currently does not have a luxury flagship like Mercedes does and it’s about time the 8 Series changed that.

Only one car has borne the 8 Series mantle before—the big grand tourer built from 1989 to 1999 that famously came in V8 or V12 flavors. The original 8 was a technological powerhouse, but ultimately a failure in the marketplace, doomed by the rise of SUVs at the expense of coupes, its monstrous price tag and its complicated nature. In the years since it’s become coveted among enthusiasts willing to put up with its many quirks in exchange for its bold looks and power.

We’ll see if the new 8 Series can do it all better.

After my recent German shopping experience (albeit for a 4), affordability is a thing of the past for the big 3. It's a little depressing.

It is absolutely awful...someone at BMW needs to be fired over all these "GT" models:

2018 BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo: BMW's not-quite-a-wagon, rebooted

une 13, 2017With its 2018 6-Series Gran Turismo, BMW has rebooted its not-quite-a-sedan, not-quite-a-wagon five-door hatchback.

It's a model that was previously known as the 5-Series Gran Turismo, a tall hatchback that with above average room for humans and their cargo. While the outgoing 5-Series GT did so at the expensive of styling, the 6-Series GT appears to be slightly more toned-down. If anything, it's more like a 3-Series Gran Turismo on steroids.

No, it isn't as subtly sexy as the 6-Series Gran Coupe, a low-slung sedan, but the GT is designed to be more versatile and practical with a maximum of 65 cubic feet of stuff-hauling capacity with the second row folded forward.

MORE: Read our 2017 BMW 5-Series review

The 6-Series GT launches here in the United States first as a 640i xDrive, nomenclature that signifies a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-6 engine rated at 335 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque underhood and an 8-speed automatic transmission that shuttles power to all four wheels. But despite its all-wheel drive and relatively tall 60.6-inch height, the 6-Series GT isn't really a crossover. Instead, it's the closest thing to a mid-size station wagon that American buyers are likely to be offered.

2018 BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo

BMW says that the 6-Series GT will be available with several option packages to help buyers personalize theirs. The most notable is arguably the M Sport package, which includes a special styling kit inside and out, unique wheels with a choice of performance tires, and the ability to step up further with a roll-stabilizing air suspension and a trick active steering system.

The 6-Series GT lands in BMW dealers this fall with a starting price of $70,695 including a mandatory $995 destination charge.

Your BMW 6-Series "primer"

The 6-Series GT is the next step in BMW's rework of its 6-Series lineup. Recently, the German automaker scratched the slow-selling 6-Series coupe, leaving only a convertible and a four-door sedan.

Here's a look at what the 6-Series lineup will look like for 2018... at least unless BMW decides to try something new again.
  • 6-Series Convertible: A sleek, four-seat droptop with a price tag in the six figure range
  • 6-Series Gran Coupe: Despite its name, a four-door sedan with a low-slung roofline and seating for four.
  • 6-Series Gran Turismo: Today's introduction, a large hatchback that's actually more related to the 5-Series sedan than anything with a 6 on it.
  • M6: A high-performance model available as either a convertible or a Gran Coupe.

jeezus fuck that's godawful. We were behind a 5 GT coming out of Montreal Sunday. My wife looked up and said "WTF is that thing?!" I told her it was BMW's shit replacement for the 5 wagon. This 6 GT would send her around the bend, me too as a matter of fact. You're right, someone at BMW should be shit-canned for this abomination.

^ Stop reminding us that you like 3GT

Why do they have to call it a 6GT? i mean it looks nothing like the upcoming 6 series. It makes more sense to continue to call it a 5GT.

i thought the Even #s are supposed to be Coupe...

Ive always been critical of their stupid naming system...why have a 4 series gran coupe? technically why have a 6gc...except i like those better than the 5 series...

An even more head scratching decision they made was calling both the FWD MPV and the RWD coupe the 2 series.

Obviously i understand why they have a 4GC since i have one

You know, you have people like me who loves the coupe's driving characteristics and looks (low and wide) but really need a 4 door for practical reasons. 4GC is the perfect solution. The fact that 4GC contributes to 50% of the all 4 series sales shows that there are plenty of people who are like me.

Now, they do not have it call it a 4GC but you can't call it a 3 series either since everything about it is based on 4 series.
You can't replace the 3 series with 4GC either. While there are plenty of people who love the idea of 4GC, but it still suffers from interior space issue because of the roofline and etc...

Now GT IMO is completely useless. a Wagon will be much more pleasant to look at. Obviously, you dont agree

My friend who leased two 550GTs back to back would disagree with you. Of course he now leases an X5M. His wife is on her 2nd 3GT lease, however...

I like the 3GT because you have more 2nd row seat space then with the wagon by a lot. While still getting a nice amount of cargo space with the hatch. While smaller than the 5GT...I like the lines better. Sharper drop in the rear looks sportier.

He would disagree with me... but i got a lot more people who agree with me (sales #) than his support group

While i understand the rear leg room advantage (i was shocked when i first sat in it) but i think the reason why people dislike the GT is the same as why we hate the Accord Crosstour. A lifted 4 door hatchback is never good looking. That is why they are not selling.

The reaction on the BMW forum to the previous GT and this new 6GT is pretty much identical as how we reacted to Accord Crosstour....

The Crosstour was shit because it wasted space, imo. I never liked that thing. I think BMW has formed a much better implementation. And I dont think my friend was blind to sales numbers, he just really loved that car. And his wife loves her 3GT. Thats said, I think he likes his M more...

Are the designs as sleek as Audi's versions? No...but I think they have more utility to them.
