Got the CB-1s.. the new cans.. I'm a fan.

Straight to the point.. they don't beat (my dick) the XB5hundidddds.
The sound is closer to the XB500s than the AT50xs though.

Sound: Excellent bass.. if you're a basshead, these will fucking do.
Some reviews say the bass is tight.. not how I'd describe it. The low
frequencies will cradle you.. you'll fucking live in that range through
the whole song. It loses so much upper low to mid though... that's what's
disappointing. The middle freqs are noted as neutral in a lot of reviews,
I'd say it's barely-existent. The highs are sharp and that's definitely tight.
If these cans were a fucking rainbow.. it'd be super fucking brilliant
and vibrant except yellow, green, and blue are grayscale.

If you're going to listen to straight vocals or some guitar solo.. nix it.
Piano is okay, even cello, trumpet seems a little muted on the low to mid.
Snare drum.. fuuuuuk.. it's bleh.. snare, guitar, and vocals.. it really
muddies the water here. At the higher regions it's bright... but in the
money region.. it's almost mono.

I really like them though. I can still listen to debussy or tupac and
zone out. It's smooth.. it really does cradle you.. harmonnnnnnyyy.

Build Quality: They're comfortable......
but I have a big fucking head. At full extension.. they fit perfectly, but the
bridge presses into my head more than I'd like.
Shieettt.. the cords are pimp.. real monitor quality.
Cans are almost all plastic and faux leather. Being over the ear.. the cuffs will
absorb sweat and wear out. The upper band is actually leather, but the
rest is pleather.

My MDRxHundids are the
cheapest fucking cans I have and they're ultra comfortable so build doesn't
mean all that much to me other than comfort. They clamp pretty good. I can
invert them and they stay in place.. I'll probably wear them like this bc
my big ass head (ladies).. it's only awkward because the cord points up (wink).
They're also spring loaded.. I guess that's good (probably why they stay in place).

Leakage: Average for closed cans. These have big drivers so it'll extend pretty
far. Out of 100 on the PC.. 18 is the sweet spot for volume for me..
almost zero leakage. At 100.. it'll extend to at least 2 cubes down.
I think it's on par with 50x and the 5hundids in this region.


So.. if you really want super bright mids and highs and not into easy listening
and not a basshead... get the 50x or Soundtrues.
If you need that boom boom pow and like your EQ iii______iii ,
then these are your pick. Like I said.. I'm a fan. Money well spent.

Disagree, it's a closed venue of 100 max and you can't tell where the vocals are at
