2018 TLX A-spec: 4" inch exhaust?
So Acura has gone back to displaying it's exhaust... 4" inch tail pipes? I haven't seen it in person, but from footage from several source for the New York Auto Show the 4" exhaust really looks like "port holes" in the rear facia for more normal 2.5" or 3 inch exhaust. I only mention this because the presenters seem to being up the design cue as if it adds to the performance.
The 3 major upgrades I admire are a 30% faster infotainment system which now include Apple/Android, better seats, and revised suspension. Folding mirrors are an added plus, as well as other minor styling updates. The new grill is ok, but the new 19" wheels are pretty snazzy.
I'm interested to hear about the new pricing. If it's ~$43k for a V6 FWD A-spec, it think that would be the sweet spot. Would I trade up from my free-and-clear 2015 TLX Tech? Ehh, probably not.

The entire exhaust isn't 4" in diameter. The exhaust tips might be. But the hole in them likely is 2.5" at most, matching the rest of the piping. It's just an optical illusion. They're not the first, nor the last to do this.

4" tips on the TLX, Really? Must be one hell of an engine they slipped into the A-Spec when no one was looking.
4" openings. Some guy on a BMW forum is complaining because nobody sells 102MM (4") "Fart Can" style tips for his 335/435. Factory performance muffler tips are 3". Had 4" side pipes on my BB solid lifter cam Tri Power Stingray.

What's so crazy about it? I'm betting it's exactly like this:
4" at the tip, then slims down to 2.5" or 2" for the actual piping. It's not that unusual.
this picture isn't the best example, but gives you an idea at least.

But what do I know I am just an old fart way behind the times who still remembers the phrase, "if it don't go - chrome it" Its sort of an analogue to precision performance.
BTW I do like the red in the seats. If BMW had that red would have ordered in the 440

Not a complaint, just an observation. Differences of opinion are what make forums go round. Same, same forums are just boring.
I am sure a lot of guys will think 4" finishers will make the car look extra powerful & sporty without effecting gas mileage. Win - Win for the TLX

I haven't seen a test drive yet, so I wonder if the actual exhaust note is effected.
This just reminds me of the 90's when GM put "faker" exhaust tips on many cars, and you'd look underneath and nothing was attached. Not a complaint necessarily - just an observation. I'm an engineer and come from the school where form follows function.
