Ugh, I wish we had a similar market for car parts here. No such luck at all.

Thanks!

The blue balls experienced by the nature of this project are unmatched - at least I can enjoy the subtle aesthetic modifications & small bolt ons.

I *absolutely* love the new S3. I don't care if you thread jack, post pics if you can!

If you have Facebook, you should check out the "WEST COAST S2000 PARTS FOR SALE" group.

Many sellers are willing to ship and prices are pretty reasonable.

I installed my new Milltek 3" exhaust on Friday night and I would say overall, I'm pretty happy with it .. just wish it was louder since the car sounds stock now . Not to worry, the stock downpipes will be removed later this year which will definitely give it more volume & braps

I will say though ...with turbo cars, width definitely matters - the car does spools noticeably quicker and I did gain some power in the upper RPM. Can't say I've ever been disappointed with more power .

It was an unusual weekend where I didn't have a lot planned, so I found some time on Sunday to clay bar and throw on a coat of wax.

I've been neglecting my S2k

I really need to clay bar & wax it, should be in the clear this weekend since it'll be raining .

Largest purchase of the build is out of the way

Injectors arrived yesterday, Walbro 450 arrives today.

Next is clutch & intake components like bi-pipes, 85mm MAF, new airbox .. whatever I can get my hands on.

I'm stoked.

I can't wait.

Obviously, lots of parts left to order - I'm still fumbling on what clutch kit / intercooler set I want, but the rest of the intake & exhaust parts will be used.

Coming along nicely.

Can't believe you scored a Milltek for peanuts......Their weld quality is not as good now as it was in the unit you scored, but they still sound amazing.....the mod gods were watching over you on that one!!

Thanks Mr Hyde!

It really was a great deal - can't wait till the OEM DPs are changed out for hi-flow 3" DPs

Have you dynoed your RS4 yet? How much power would you say it makes?

Attended Cars & Coffee on Saturday - I was the first to arrive and I was greeted by San Diego Audi Club, they must've had at least 40 cars ...

I'm kicking myself now for not bringing my Sony 5N & taking more pictures, but there was a *mint* '94 Audi S4 (URS4) with 130,000 original miles fully built ... it was absolutely gorgeous

I went to the gym on Sunday and snapped a few more:

Once the bank account recovers a bit more, I'll be on the lookout for more parts. I hope to have everything ordered before the wedding and installed by the end of the year.

Operation Blue Balls for sure.

The quality of that piece is first rate too. If you looked at some of their pieces for the B7; (welds, steel, etc) you'd swear they came from a different manufacturer.

Haven't really gone out of my way to get on a dyno, but if the opportunity presents itself I would do it. I have 2.75" downpipes, high flow cats, and exhaust. Also got the tune, and intake manifold spacers. That's about it as far as power adders go unless you go with a supercharger. That's a line I am not sure if I want to cross for a car I think I will be hanging onto long term.

Love it.

I'll be honest with you - I like the idea that it's a high quality piece of exhaust and will compliment bigger turbo chargers & HFCs, but as it sits right now ... not really

My old exhaust was pretty raw; burbles on down shifts and on the over run ... now it sounds basically stock in comparison.

No real updates as of right now other than ordering new fluids.

- 5 quarts of Titan Fuchs Sintofluid 75-80 for rear differential & transmission.
- 2 quarts of OEM powersteering fluid

My biggest challenge right now is finding used 3" high flow cats .. god damn CA smog.

Front differential & transmission share the same fluid, rear differential is separate.

I would go OEM, but Titan Fuchs Sinto fluid is essentially the GM Sychromesh of the B5 S4.

SRM K04+ Hybrids w/ inlets & SS oil feed lines - they're a bit dirty from all the packaging, definitely going to clean them before installation.

They looked great but after more inspection one of the wastegate actuator barbs broke off.

On the bright side:

The car isn't needing a set of turbos right now ..I contacted the seller and he's going to file a claim and send me a replacement within a few weeks.

Also, over the weekend I managed to do my transmission & rear differential fluid. Car shifts better, but it still feels like a 16 year old car some times...

Magnetic drain plugs ftw - all clean after wiping off a glob of fine metallic sludge.

Upgrade for sure. I don't plan on running E85 or meth, but 400whp / 400wtq are the numbers I'm looking for.

450wtq is when rods start breaking

Your car is going to be a blast to drive! Do you have to get a custom tune or will something from APR do the trick?

Thanks Adam!

It'll be a custom tune since it's not an all inclusive kit - from what I've seen (keep in mind, I am *not* a tuning expert - still trying to get a solid understanding), the tuner will run a rough map based on your turbo setup & make further adjustments based on the size of fuel pump & injectors, MAF size, which octane & fuel type, whether or not you'll be running meth or not, etc.

More features can be added like: launch control, sensor deletes, no lift shift.

Since I am running 91 octane with no meth injection, the priority is getting good intercoolers, keeping low IATs, and to avoid knock ...

Boosted cars are sensitive little beeches....

Tell me about it! I monitor each cylinder on my Cobb and it makes me paranoid the engine is going to blow when I get the occasional knock. When I had the MK6 R there really weren't any options for custom tunes. I don't know about much about the other Audi/VW platforms as far as tuning goes. It's going to be a bad bitch once you're done with the whole process process.

UPDATE:

So ... I rode in my first Stage 3 S4 on Sunday and lets just say, the boost bug has hit me hard. The car had Borgwarner OEM K04 turbos, 550cc injectors, knock off intercoolers, a rough tune and it was running lean. Lot of bugs needing to be worked out but damn the spool is immediate and it pulled hard.

Cannot wait.

I have more parts on order from the AudiZine classifieds
  • A rare / discontinued APR Bi-Pipe - this part replaces the narrow plastic OEM pieces that send air from the intercoolers to the throttle body - bolts directly to the throttle body and eliminates the failure prone throttle body boot.
  • Used rear view mirror (Autodimming didn't work when I bought the car)
  • "Toy Guy" Short Throw Shifter kit - reduces throw by 30%, updated / refreshed bearings, eliminates a lot of the 16 year old shifter slop (Much much needed)
In regards to my damaged turbo, the vendor sent me a new wastegate actuator which I plan on installing soon ... once I figure out how to properly balance the wastegate. The procedure seems pretty straight forward, I just need to get access to some kind of pressure regulator like a MityVac. The MityVac MV8000 I ordered only appears to do Vacuum for bleeding .. unless I'm missing something?

Anybody with any Mityvac experience here? Paging jawknee.

I'm not familiar with turbos at all to be honest so i'm not sure what you would need to do? What kind of questions in regards to the Mityvac do you have? It's great at sucking !

Positive pressure - need to hook up a pressure regulator to balance it.
