last night of league tonite. can't end soon enough. we clinched first last week though, so we can eat and drink the last night and not worry. other league we are middle of the pack. I'm gonna finish 202 both leagues. blah.
pro ams are really neat. I did two, you get to meet a bunch of pros. Ask your bowling alley for a pin, and bring a black sharpie you can get it signed by everybody.
yea this season SUCKED. everyone was minus 10-20 pins for the first few months. remember I posted awhile back they switched the lane conditions / oil patterns and nobody could adjust.
seems better now, there are a ton of 300/800s up on the big board.
I finally shot a 700 series last week. First all year. ugh.
So, this happened to me last night. First 300! still in shock. teammate took a video of shot #12. was so nervous, just wanted to hit the pocket. Luckily they all went down.
Sounds more stressful than mine. Right before my tenth frame my team stops me and says beer buckets empty. The bar is on the freaking other side of the building! Took me 15 minutes to come back and throw the last three.
Bowling is my sport! Been bowling for 25 years now. So far this year has been decent, but a bad night last night... I worked, as a mechanic, for the alley I bowl at and still help them out on occasion when something on their machines break. Well last night they had a broken scissors and the owner came up to me while I was bowling and asked if I could fix it in between games. I said sure it should only take a few minutes. Well as I was installing the last bolt, Flat Head cap screw, I sliced my thumb, on my bowling hand, wide open. Blood running down my hand as I am trying to tighten it up. Well after that incident I knew I was done for the night. I was throwing the ball very well in game 1 so I was pretty bummed I had to sit out. I tried everything I could to close it up. SuperGlue, New Skin Patches, Tape, Liquid Bandage. Nothing held unfortunately.
Who else is in a league on here? What kind of equipment do you throw? What average do you hold in your current league?
I throw Motiv. Used to be Storm but they have been making stuff that is too skid/flip for me. I did do a DEMO night last week and threw EBI equipment. The Mako, Tyrant Pearl, Game Breaker Phenom, and Side Swipe are all great pieces. I would buy a couple of those but I just made the switch to Motiv a few months ago and have 4 new balls already. Currently averaging 224! #Motivated
I'm not currently in a league but bowled 2-3 a week starting when I was 9 and through college. I actually met my wife because of bowling and we still go once every few months. She and I both throw Storm but I've had Track equipment in the past. My best set is 778: 245, 244, 289. Between the second and third game, I had 18 strikes in a row, but choked on the 11th ball in the last game, came in heavy and left a 4-pin My wife has shot one 300 but her set was mid-750s.
Now I want to get my own ball and go bowling more.
That was the third night of bowling for the first time since 2010 I believe. I used a different house ball every night, so I had no consistency to build upon. That just made it feel even sweeter.
Order 2 new pieces! Motiv United Revolt and Motiv Octane Carbon. Can't wait to use them for the last night of bowling. Tournaments are right around the corner so it isn't a bad thing to get new stuff at the end of the year.
Three weeks ago I went with a group of friends and was 230-pace with a 12-pound house ball () and I ruptured my bicep tendon in the 9th frame. I had surgery last Monday and will be in a brace for the next 6-8 weeks along with physical therapy. The soonest I can bowl will be 6 months. I'm really bummed; my wife and I were going to sign up for a summer league.
That sounds painful! I don't know how people can bowl during the summer. To nice out (usually) to be stuck inside. Shot a new season high last night, 280. Damn 10 pin in the second cost me another 300...
I use to do this all the time when I worked in a 12 lane house. I would never get passed 5 or 6. You have to be lucky and his form is horrible. Goes to show anyone can throw a strike, let alone a 300!
winter leagues are donezo. very frustrating season for my teams, we did not win. 5th, 5th, 7th, 9th. ugh. the lone highlight for me was my 300. taking a summer break to golf.
Bowled a Hi-Rollers Tournament this past Friday. Shot 684 with a few bad breaks. Team did alright, but we missed the cashout by 75 pins. Going back to bowl it again on the 26th hoping for better results. Still need to dust off the clubs and start swinging...
Believe it or not, summer has come and gone and you know what that means. BOWLING is back in session!!! Been at it for 3 weeks already and I can tell it's going to be a fun year. Week one shot a 676 after not touching my stuff for almost 4 months. Not too bad! Week two I shot 734 and just last night I shot 738. We establish an average after 9 games, so after this week I will be coming in at 238. Been flirting with the elusive perfect game a few times already this year. I really hope I can add to my honor score list, it has been far too long since my last one...
Good luck out on the lanes this year! Post some scores to share.
Well it's that time of the year again and leagues are underway. As always I don't bowl summer leagues and last week I shot 668. Not a horrible start to the year. I was given a ball from a friend and had it plugged and re-drilled to fit me a few weeks after last season. Has sat on the shelf since. I tried it last week, for the first time, and only got one game out of it before the lanes changed and lost all reaction forcing me switch to something else. Shot 258-191-219. Fast forward one week, showed up to bowling last night and the humidity was thru the roof horrible. The center I bowl at changed to Synthetic approaches 2 years ago and I hate them for the first 2 months because they are like trying to slide with street shoes on. Not happening! I had to change my whole approach and release to accommodate such horrible conditions. What ever I did worked out well for me though. Using the ball I just got I managed to fire off a 257-276-268 for a nice 801. Finally got the monkey off my back! This is my second 800 series and couldn't be happier. Been 11 years since my last one and have come close so many times that is sickening to think of it but that is finally over. Hopefully they will come easier and easier from here. I wouldn't mind adding a few perfect games too. Who knows its only week 2 and have 29 more to go. Could be a great year!
