Integra for customization
Integra for customization
I'm curious as to whether the Integra is the best Acura model to buy if customization is a factor that I'm considering? I'm a bit nervous because of the age of the Integra models but I'm not sure if there are any recent models that are as friendly to modification. Any ideas? Thanks!

Lots of Acuras have aftermarket parts available it all depends on what level you are talking about to customize. Just wheels, suspension, exhaust you can do to about any of the coupes and sedans. If you want to do a lip kit or something as well many of them have that too. Integra, RSX, TSX, and the TL can all easily be modified.

LOL Silicone Sapphire is a reference to a song by The Clash. Yeah, I don't really have a plan or a goal. A lot of my buddies upgraded their cars with racing mods. I never had the money for it before but things are a bit different now and I might be able to do some light racing mods but I haven't given it a ton of thought. Maybe just an upgraded exhaust. I'm not really into changing the look too much or anything - maybe a re-paint if it looks like crap but that would probably be further down the road. I'm not sold on Integra, I was just told it's the best for racing mods. Good to hear that the RSX, TSX, and the TL are easily customizable too. I can broaden my search a bit now. Thanks!
Don't repaint!!!
if the car looks like ass, move on. A quality repaint job is very expensive. Otherwise, if you cheap out, you get what you pay for, and I assure you, you will regret cheaping out on the paint. You're much better off searching and waiting for a car in just the condition you want it. RSX-S prices have come down to a point where even a mint example isn't out of reach. Unreasonable for a car of its age? likely. But still within reach.
You can buy a mint one for 10k, or you can buy a POS for 4K and dump 5-6k into painting it properly... And then fix everything else that needs replacing.
My exerience with desirable Hondas or Acuras is once again, you get what you pay for. The ones that are well taken care of demand a premium, but keep in mind, if you ever decide to sell the car, you can demand a premium as well. There is no such thing as a good deal on desirable cars. People know what they're worth and if the price seems too good to be true, they are likely hiding something.
best of luck!!!

Thanks - yeah, a friend of mine shelled out about 4K to get his car painted recently.I'd only do it if it seemed like the deal would be worth it but you're right - in most cases, not going to happen. I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled for the right one.
We're getting closer to your wants..... But it feels like I'm pulling teeth, here...
I understand the want to finally be able to mod a car...
However, that isn't a good enough reason....
Is it a toy? Is it a daily driver? What do you want from a vehicle??

I haven't had a car in ages so I'd be using it a lot - daily driver for sure. I'm doing alright moneywise but not super flush so I'd like fuel economy to be decent for the daily but I might be open to sacrificing that a bit if I do any sort of racing mods. Right now, the racing mods is a whim. I've never done any but a lot of my friends are doing racing mods and they seem like fun. It's still the car I'd be taking to work every day. It doesn't need a ton of room but maybe enough to get some of my DJ equipment around.
ahh! that's better!!
have you figured out how much you are willing to spend on a vehicle?
it's best to get a vehicle that fits your needs! something economical and spacious...
modding/customising would take a back seat...

Justnspace is right- if you give us a budget, along with an "emergency fund", we can point you in the right direction with regards to what to look for.
We aren't here to judge- not everyone has tons of money available to blow on whatever they'd like, but we can at least help you set some realistic and attainable goals

I did that a few years ago. My accord coupe was written off and at first I was looking at even pricier replacements. I ended up buying a much cheaper replacement and pocketing the rest... it ended up forming part of the down-payment for our first house
my suburb has police auctions, and I saw an 2004 acura TL on there with a first bid of $500.
car looked like death...but i mean, that would be another way to grab cars.
they were auctioning off some police tahoe's too! I want one!!!

I've got about $10K saved up but willing to save higher for the right car. As far as mods, they'd be down the line a bit but I was thinking of some strut braces for handling, maybe a cat-back exhaust upgrade, and tires. Maybe a racing wheel.
What kind of racing are you looking to do with those mods? They're basically just bolt-ons...
Just street racing stuff, nothing professional obviously. Some friends of mine customized their cars for speed. I've never done any customization but I've had fun riding around with them in their cars so I figured maybe doing some similar stuff to mine down the road.

Offer $11,500 for this and you will have a sleeper plus a chick magnet.
