The recall list is still expanding, so I'm not certain we 3G TL owners are out of the woods just quite yet.

Still no 3G TLs on the recall list. Here's a good read from Consumer Reports:

I remember seeing somewhere that our airbags are from TRW. Not sure if I'm right, but if that's the case, then I don't think we should be expecting a recall of our airbags!

Just checked oemacuraparts, and our SRS unit is from TRW, not sure if that's the right part, but who knows. No mention of Takata in the SRS unit parts section, though.

The list has been expanded once again, by more than double the existing recall (28M vs an additional 35-40M). The added make/models haven't yet been released. The added recall is massive. Here's hoping that the 3G TL continues to be excluded from the recall...

I can safely say that when my air bags deployed, no shrapnel flew at me.

I did get the bags replaced with OEM parts, but now im worried. :/

But you were drunk in the passenger seat, no? Or is this another Crabman escapade separate from the curb/tree incident?

Edit: nevermind, the over rev was the drunken passenger situation. I can't seem to keep proper track of Crabman's adventures

Well, that's good news, especially knowing that you're in a humid area....

I even tried to look up the part numbers that were associated with my repairs...
they are standard Acura/honda bags (which means they ARE from takata!)

It looks like as of today the 3G TL is still not included in the recall. It has me wondering how. It seems to affect every similar model to the TL. Accord, TSX, RL 2G and 4G TL etc. What is special about our takata airbags that they are the good ones? Were they not made in Mexico?

They are just replacing the inflator and not replacing the air bags. My RL was included for DS initially and just expanded to PS for which there is of course a back order.

i'm curious as it seems to affect 2nd Gen, and 4th Gen TL's.....i don't think Honda/Acura would change airbag OEM for a generation.......i suspect 3rd Gen TL's are affected, but they just need to round up the VIN's.

small chance, but i hope the 3rd Gen isn't affected (who makes OEM 3rd gen airbags then ?)

Yeah, that's seems strange that they skipped a generation and then went back to Takata....

Honda Airbag Info Recall

I'd have to believe that if 3G TL's had Takata inflators they would already be on the list.

Almost posted a new thread for this, but see I'm not the only one wondering...

Honda has a page I found specific to what's in the news today. 2002, 2003, and 2009-2014 TLs are on the list but otherwise 3G is still good to go!

Another reason for the superiority of 3G TL's:

Well, now even the replaced Takata airbags (with dessicant added to the gas cannister) are probably faulty. And in fact, any Takata airbag inflator is likely deadly.

This shit is scary, watch the whole video, but the demo of a dessicated airbag is at 1:02:18 if you want to go direct :

Just checked my VIN, no current recalls. So I guess at least some 7th gen Accords got the same airbags as the 3rd gen TL.

I have a customer who is a lawyer and one of the cases he worked on was the Takata airbag lawsuits. They faked their long term durability tests. It's not just that they used ammonium nitrate but that they intentionally falsified their tests.
