Pulled the trigger, my second TL
I had been searching all over the province for a while now. Finally found the perfect TL for me.
2006, 75 000 kms (50k miles), 2 owners, never winter driven. Manual, a spec lips and deck lid spoiler. Both interior and exterior are pristine. Not 100% perfect but definitely excellent.
Paid $12.5k CAD, so a little under $10k USD.

A good deal is subjective, your car was 3 years younger when you got it!

Seems about right though. I paid 8k for my 06 AT with approx 200xxx kms in the summer of 2014. It did have the full lip kit but the reason the price was lower in comparison was that the whole front end was basically sandblasted from highway driving so the car needed repainted. So it seems to kind of average out to around the same price point.
And pleas first thing to do on that car is remove them damn dealer stickers on the trunk , fuck that bugs the shit out of me when they do that

I respect your opinion but believe me when I say I looked around for a while and a low mileage type-s this clean would've been north of 15.5k easily. Remember these prices are in Canadian peso so I paid under $10k USD.
Those stickers are 6-10 years old, I'm kind of afraid at what I'll find under them :S

I have had a 6MT base...
and then a Type S MT...
I can tell you that if I ever went back to the TL, I'd be fine with either as long as 6MT.
In some ways, I actually liked the base better (blue lighting, aspec kit look).
I think you did great, especially saving a ton of cash for maintenance and some appearance mods.

My reasoning was exactly that. I wasn't chasing HP numbers and the butt dyno couldn't tell the difference between the TLS MT and the base MT. Now the only real thing (imo) the type-s has over the base is the quad exhaust. I didn't think it was worth it at the end of the day since I'm not looking to go in a really aggressive direction when it comes to looks on this TL.
The price difference will be kept for future maintenance. I know it might sound silly but I sold my last TL because of a rod knock that wasn't worth fixing given the car's overall shape. If this one ends up doing the same (which it very well could), I'm definitely gonna splurge for a rebuild since everything is in such great shape.

105K and a valve adjust, keep the clutch happy...and aside from the normal annoyances like maybe the dash crack, center console trim damage, cup holder door tearing, rebuilding the power steering pump, and accessory idler/tensioner assembly getting squeaky...
there's nothing more to worry about with these cars. I noticed more power with the TL-S because it was fully bolted on and dyno'd at 303 to the wheels so it felt substantially faster than my base. But my base was butter smooth and fast enough!

Lots of small things I need to do before I can sit back and enjoy this car. I'm hoping I can store it somewhere accessible so I can work on it during winter!
I must've missed it while I was gone though, why'd you sell your TL?? That car looked so good!

Saw this thing while killing time on autotrader a week or two ago... Really nice example you got there!
10/10 would get this if I were in the market for a base TL. Can't get better than this
Congrats!

Thank you, I kept seeing it on there for the past weeks and as soon as I got around to go see it I fell in love. It's got its defects though, small ones but I'm still gonna be busy until next summer

Change oil to synthetic (doing that today)
Timing belt, WP, spark plugs
Brake fluid flush
MT fluid
Coolant flush
Power steering flush
Front brake pads
Inspect bushings and engine mounts
Inspect/overhaul suspension (small noise coming from front left corner) (might get coils)
Decontaminate paint (already did hood, clay was black after 15 seconds every time lol, incredible)
Compound + Polish + seal
Restore + seal headlights
Remove old clear bra, might replace depending on paint condition under there.
Clean up exhaust tips.
Then I'll go on to mod it very lightly, wanna keep the OEM look.
